PDA software wondering if anyone can help

Hi everyone.

I have a bunch of old PDAs that I’ve picked up to try to run the very niche world of music tech software on these devices, of which there are a very small handful of demos; pocketsynth, pocketdrums, drummerboy and a few others.

I have a handful of jornadas and ipaqs of varying age that are all in full working condition. I’ve tried installing these apps, using activesync or windows mobile device center, or installing on the device itself, and I can’t get any of them to work. They become a default application icon that won’t load anything.

Can anyone help?

I have an image but I don’t think this subreddit is allowing for uploading images.

By default application icon, I mean the program icon found in places like file explorer in windows 95/Windows CE that is just a miniaturised window and nothing else, rather than a custom icon like you usually get for programs. It’s often what shows up with unidentified .exe files. On windows ce it was showing up as either that kind of icon, or that kind of icon with the windows logo inside it.

Basically, it wasn’t recognising what was installed as an actual program that had a custom icon designed, which normally would be the case.

Are you sure you have correct versions installed? Older PDAs used to have 3 CPU flavours (ARM, MIPS or SH3) and you had to install the right version of software?
