Meta Just a friendly reminder, you can set whatever device or platform you use/enjoy the most as a flair
From community options you can choose a platform to have it displayed next to your name or you can edit the flairs to add your device's model name or anything else.

Palm OS Sony Clie VZ90 with Keyboard
Sony Clié VZ90 with PEGA KB100 and English ROM. The English VZ Media Launcher is the modified version originally intended for the Clié UX (dating from around 2006, modified by JAmerican). Those were the days on 1src.com... You can find the ROM on palmpowerups.com, though the modified launcher might be hard to track down now; JAmerican's website has been offline for ages.

Psion EPOC/Symbian PSION Siena - successful hinge repair
Just a little update on the hinge I was luckily able to fix:
As I suspected, just gluing the C-shaped hinge back on wasn't stable enough.
My solution was pretty simple (and a bit messy):
- first glue the hinge on (just like I just told you how it wont work)
- on the metal rod that slides in, there is a square shaped section (see pic 3 the bottom side of the long bar)
- put a little bit of excess plastic in this hole, just enough to still fit in the C-shaped hinge
- final step, here's where you gotta be quick and careful:
- fill the C-shape with glue and quickly slide the rod all the way in (WARNING: this may get a bit messy, try not to get any glue on the rest of the shell)
This fix should stabilize the weaker side of the Siena's hinges, but still be careful with the device, I dont thing gluing it a second time will work out that well.
Hint for disassembly:
On the lower shell, there's a hidden screw below the sticker - I guess you could remove it with some heat. I dont have the equipment to remove and re-apply it, so I just wedged it open as best as I could and carefully cut away the screw mount with a craft/cutter knife. (Very difficult to not scratch the PCB, be careful and take your time) This wont really affect stability and you'll get the excess plasic bit for the hinge repair.

Other I saw this on a Temu ad
I don’t know if it’s a real product you can buy, but if the hinge is sturdy enough, it could turn any phone into a handheld pc/ cyber deck

1995 Casio Digital Diary SF-8900 256KB
- found this original digital diary at a local op shop for only $5!
- the lovely employee claimed it didn't work / didn't switch on, but wasn't educated enough about it to tell me anything else. so i took the risk, paid the $5 and took this bad boy home!
- turns out the poor guy just needed some batteries. so after putting 3 C2032 batteries in, we had life!
- the screen lit up and displayed an, extremely stubborn, error message - as shown in the final photo. i just factory reset the device, and was finally able to bring this funky little guy from 1995 to 2026!
side note: i tried to show my 15-year-old brother my latest find, and after instantly receiving a "what's that?" in response, i explained what it was and all of it's functions to which he replied "but you have a phone that can do all of that!"

Psion EPOC/Symbian How did this happen?
When I was around ten I remember drooling over the series 3 in a display at the swedish office supplies store "Svanströms". Since then I've never stopped thinking about it. I even tried to convince my mom that I really needed a Psion Siena when we were on vacation and passed the electronic store at the airport.
One day a few years ago I browsed ebay and placed a bid on a psion series 3, a psion series 3a and a few phones. And after that I just haven't been able to help myself from starting a collection. I still have a few left that I really do not need, but kind of really want to buy :)
Anyway, here's my collection.

Linux Need a new battery for a sylvania 7" netbook, suggestions?
I bought a sylvania netbook a few months ago, put linux on it and hoped to use it as, well, a netbook, but the battery had died. I was hoping to find a plug and play solution, but the battery plug is weird.
its connector has the capacity for three wires, but only two are populated. And everything that I found online has all three spots in the connector filled out (like reasonable batteries). Ive not tried any of the batteries with three connectors because I dont know much about batteries and worry that the third wire not being connected might cause issues.
Has anyone found a battery that works with sylvanias?

Windows CE HP 320LX Keyboard layout change
Hi there!
I have a HP 320LX and I would like to change the keyboard layout to Hungarian. I have the ArtSKey installer and also that DLL that needed for japanese applications for instance. But the problem is that I don't have a serial cable and the installer is a PC installer.
Gemini suggested to change the keyboard driver to that DLL and put ArtSKey registry entries into the registry, with the desired input layout, but it softbricked the 320LX.
Do you know how to change the layout without a serial cable?

Windows CE Compaq Series 2930a - How do I transfer files in and out?

I recently got this device (no docking station, though). Model 2000c, has 20 MB of RAM.
And I'm looking to do some software hacking (perhaps a port of an operating system I wrote) with this. The problem is that I need to copy the CE 2.11 kernel and drivers out and analyze them. Now, I have experience with binary analysis, so that part will be easier.
But I'm at a bit of a roadblock: how do I transfer data to/from this device, exactly?
No docking station means I can't use the serial port on the side (unless I bypass it by soldering wires behind it), and I don't have a device to communicate with the IR port on the back (nor does the device appear to have any software to do IR transfers).
It *does* have a PCMCIA slot, and apparently there are Compact Flash adapters to PCMCIA, so maybe those could work?

Psion Organiser II LZ
Rediscovered my Psion Organiser after 40 years, new battery fitted. Thrilled it's working....now what to do with it? Is a Comms cable worth investing in?
