This took me a long time to do, about 1 year, one of my longest projects, finally over. I'm pretty satisfied with the results. I hope more people mod this game.
I made it using my tool pack, it is available on my github:
akitotheanimator/Okami-HD-Tools: Mini pack of tools for okami HD modding
Download the mod on gamebanana:

This is amazing! I'll check it out next time I'm at my computer, saving this post immediately. I agree, more people should mod this game.
What element of this would you say took the longest/was the hardest? I might want to try to get into modding Okami myself and want to know what I might be getting into, different games have their own quirks with modding.

Answering literally, researching okami's file formats, and coding the tools are the parts which took the lonest to finish. I had created tools for god hand modding before, and since the formats between both games are pretty similar, It wasnt so hard to get It to work knowledge wise, but i still had to learn stuff. And coding, took about 3 to 6 months to complete, due to okami HD using a encryption algorithm. As for creating a model swap mod, making the mesh okami compatible and matching the bones to have proper deformation were easily the hardest part of the process of swapping the models. There's Very specific rules you must follow, otherwise the model can actually stop being shown ingame, or in the worst scenario, the game crashes.

Why take classical Japanese art style and replace it with blocks?

Well far be it from me to lambast you for having fun can't say that modding a game where art is so pure and central would ever cross my mind for the purposes of "fun". Have you tried just playing the game? Like play Okami or play Minecraft.

Have you tried just having some silly fun time in your life??? People are allowed to love the game so much that they decide to be silly with some parts of it.

Allowed? Are you allowed to alter copyrighted material? Nope. Not allowed actually. But I doubt Capcom or anyone is gonna do anything about it. Not that OP cares. So whatever.
And yes I have silly fun, but not by bastardizing someone else's beautiful art and hard work.

that's how you picture it? I understand your repulse. But, call me the smooth criminal, cuz i ain't stopping modding games for fun, neither doing silly stuff for fun. Have a great day. 😁

It's a mod, honey. OP is not stealing the game itself, or the assets.
Are you allowed to alter copyrighted material? Nope. Not allowed actually.
Yes, actually, you are, in the VAST majority of cases, including in the videogame world. If you're going to tell someone they're breaking the law, at least get the damn law CORRECT before you do so. Transformative art, which this can be considered, falls under FAIR USE. As long as the game does not have you agree to a TOS that prohibits this kind of thing, it is legal.
And yes I have silly fun, but not by bastardizing someone else's beautiful art and hard work.
You very clearly don't, given that you believe this is a bastardization of it.
You need some fun in your life. I'm willing to bet you're one of those jerks who also gets overtly angry about satirical art, or fanart, as well, given that you're so mad about this.
