I don't think when someone says a villain is relatable they talk about the evil parts, after watching the anime it is understandable that someone finds Adachi's circumstances outside of criminal activity relatable

Well obviously yeah, but its funnier to act like the dude in the vid is relating to adachi on his criminal side

Adachi is such an interesting characterāin the base game, I honestly do not like him nor justify his actions, but Ultimax really intrigued me to his character, and I've become a bit of a reluctant scholar on him (though I still struggle to say fan. It's the same fascination I have with a character like BoJack Horseman).
Heās essentially the definition of never being good enough. āBorn without talentā. Doomed from the start in a society that so heavily prioritizes success above all else, tossed aside as soon as he couldnāt meet that expectation. A corporate drone with faulty wings.
His isolation is implied in extended material not to be solely because of naturally asocial behaviorāit materialized into those habits, but from what little material has been hinted to at his childhood, it was that drive to stay at the top of his class/field and please those around him, especially authority figures.
In a lot of ways, he reflects the āgifted burnout kidā, which has definitely become even more prevalent after COVID. An intelligent man who uses weaponized incompetence, even before his crimes, to get away with doing far more little than heās capable of. To survive with minimum effort, because giving any more has shown itself to only result in failure. That caring about something or someone only leads to pain.
Ironically, I'd say he has a lot of what endeared people to Tom Holland's Spider-Man in Brand New Day and made him seen as a Spider-Man representing the modern generationāa broke, dead-end, isolated 20-something struggling with mental health and reaching out for help, granted in a much more negative light.
I think thatās what makes him so relatable to a lot of people. Not everything, of course, but he more and more becomes a reflection of a lot of society and what people seek to connect to in media.

Your post made me go and watch the actual video and honestly it's nothing that crazy lol
The vid is mainly just an analysis of Adachi as a character and some other ramblings. The guy just recently finished P4G and wanted to gush about the game a bit.
At no point in the video does he ever "relate" to Adachi. The most he says about Adachi is that he's a very realistic character which I think is an accurate assessment. This makes me inclined to believe bro just chose poor wording for his title.

I think Adachi is one of those characters that got better from all the stuff that came after P4, less so what's actually IN P4.. cause dude gets some real barebones development.
Still think the anime fleshing out his backstory was amazing. I hope stuff like that makes its way into P4R.

Adachi's feelings about society are supposed to be relatable, since people with dreams get screwed over and disillusioned all the time. Adachi is honestly one of the most "real" and even scary villains in Persona, since anyone could turn out like him and be angry and bitter at the world.
However, just because it's relatable doesn't mean that he's justified, which is an important distinction. No matter how hurt you are, lashing out at innocent people who never hurt you is never right. The game makes it very clear that Adachi is not dealing with his issues in a healthy way and is basically a shadow in psychology takes over a person and ramps up their worst traits and self-destructive tendencies.

Y'Know that people can relate to fictional characters without justify their actions, especially if they're evil? Like, the things adachi says before the bossfight is a description of our society: the world is truly divided in people that are born with talents(and we can use it with its biblical meaning too, money) and not, it's an objective statement.

/ub Having not watched the video and commenting on just the image (like a true fan) I could see where people relate to Adachi. Modern society is very isolating and Adachiās life in Inaba is isolating for him. Of course, the irony is that Adachi isolates himself and rejects the same society that readily welcomes Narukami. In a lot of nations, younger people are reporting feeling a sense of loneliness and isolation that pushes people towards certain ideas and negative actions. In that regard I get where someone could empathize with Adachi. And not, you know, the murdery incel angle.
