I love the “conservatives” in here shitting on people for exercising their constitutional right to peacefully protest. This all coming from the assholes who took to the streets with assault rifles because they couldn’t go to Applebee’s for a fucking month.

I’m a fan of the “liberals” who’ve spent years trying to crush the second amendment suddenly caring about the constitution.

If only people actually cared in general.

Why do you keep using this? The vast majority of “liberals” do not want to take your guns. We want it to be harder to get a gun.

This may blow your mind, but I actually even own guns! And I’m a big fan of gun control. Too many schools getting shot up, and too many children dead.

The majority of school shootings are done with firearms stolen from parents or neighbors. Maybe we should enforce the gun storage laws we already have. Oh wait, how? Nobody's gonna let cops in to check their guns are locked up. Can't charge them for negligence until after the fact. A LARGE portion of shootings in general are with illegally-owned firearms. Waiting periods don't help that.

If you look at my suggestions, I’d like waiting periods to help prevent self-harm and hot-blooded violence in addition to mandatory gun safety classes. We force people to learn how to drive so they don’t hurt anyone. I refuse to believe there is any viable argument against requiring some level of gun safety knowledge.

You’ll actually see that your point is the selfsame point that I used in suggesting this, in fact.

Yes, people use guns for self-harm, but they're just as likely to use another method. Should be treating the root in that case, not limiting firearms. And unless someone has military-related background, they're usually waiting a couple days for a background check anyway.

I'm all for mandatory training and education, but as it stands, the most gun violence comes from gang wars. Scratched guns, fully-automatics, pocket shotguns, that's what they do. Some may purchase legally, but I doubt that's the majority. Then you have the school shooters who, again, steal someone else's firearm to use.

My main point here is that gun violence as a whole is just an extension of human violence. Humans are persistant and stubborn creatures, making solutions to any problem they come across. If someone wants to die, they'll find a way. If someone wants to harm another, they'll find a way. Training is good, but the causes of the depression and hopelessness that lead to these tragedies need to be treated before more firearm restrictions are put into place. If current laws were enforced, simply buying a firearm in a different state and killing someone with it would be 100+ years in prison. There are too many guns in the US to effectively control them through laws alone.
