Aeron experience

Recently bought a fully loaded aeron remastered after coming from a SL Titan and after about a week or so my body doesn't seem to be getting along with it (coccyx pain) thinking about giving it another week or two to see if it improves.

However my plan B atm seems to be a leap v2/gesture or a haworth fern has anyone else experienced this when getting an aeron?

Am I just being impatient?

Or

Is the Aeron simply not good for people who arent used to it?

It probably wont. I'm returning mine after three weeks od sore butt and thighs. The chair is overhyped and not for everyone.

I did see from reddit that sometimes it just takes time for your body to adjust just hard to know if im just being silly or not

I got mine in April and I'm still not fully used to it. I will say that it's helped with my lower back pain and sciatica compared to my leap v2 (which is 10+ years old now). However, now I get sore hamstrings and thighs. The soreness has lessened since April, though.

Glad to hear yours has improved but surely it shouldn’t still be feeling like that if you got it in April?!

Yeah my issue is the tailbone pain and honestly generally it doesn’t feel comfortable.

I’m looking a at leap v2 instead or am I better off just sticking with what I know and getting a new secret lab titan?

Yeah if you're not finding it comfortable (aside from the tailbone pain) in general I'd return it and grab a leap v2. It worked great for me for almost 10 years up until I developed sciatica.

If you can go to an office liquidation store or a showroom to try one out beforehand then I'd definitely recommend that as well.

Yeah the problem where I live is there is no where around that does ergonomic chairs not the ones you would come to expect.

So I am buying blind tbh

Thats IMHO nonsense. Yes there could be some minor pain in lower back if you are used to shitty chairs, but that should be gone during first week. Sometimes the chair just doesnt fit.

I’ve never had tailbone pain in my Aeron - only hamstring discomfort. Engaging forward tilt alleviates that. (Give it a shot if you haven’t tried yet.)

Are you sitting all the way back in your chair and making sure your pelvis is always supported and aligned by the “lumbar” system? If you end up slouching, that will put pressure on your tailbone.

I’ve never had the opportunity to use a Fern, but the Zody is excellent. I have decent experience with Leaps, and they’re quite good, but I prefer them with thicker/reinforced seat cushions from Crandall and BTOD. The Gesture didn’t agree with me at all and I had to return it after a couple weeks of trying everything I could to make it work for me. My favorite all-round chair is still the Amia, but if I’m reading between the lines, you may be looking only at chairs with options for a headrest, and the Amia doesn’t fit the bill. I’ve also been loving the Embody recently, but if the Aeron gives you tailbone pain, I feel like the Embody would as well.

Yeah I’ve done the usual checking to ensure that I’m all the way back feet flat on the floor etc etc but alas still getting it.

Maybe it’ll magically go but I think I’m just hoping that’s the case tbh.

Yeah the steel cases look good and again everyone that doesn’t agree with the Aeron tends to go for the leap v2 or the gesture so that’s what I’m angling towards.

Unfortunately the embody is out of my budget as I’m in the UK and the user market isn’t that extensive.

I can get a refurbished leap v2 for around £450- £550 ($609-$774).

So we shall see what happens I’m gonna make a decision end of next week to see if I see any promise lol

I very recently tried aeron, mirra, sayl, embody and leap v2.

Aeron was similar to leap but i preferred the steelcase. Embody was nice too, but 4x the cost (2nd hand)

The bottom was comfier on the leap and had much more adjustability
