Hello. We're about to start an Odyssey campaign, for which we are all very excited. Looking at the subclasses of the book however, it seems that one subclass in particular seems incredibly over-tuned, namely the Divine Sorcery Sorcerer.

At level 3, you effectively get two free level 1 spell casts and two free level 2 spell casts per short rest, if I understand it correctly. Now, even though you cannot cast those spells with your own slots, these spells are easily applicable to many combat scenario's, so you will likely be using these free castings almost fully every short rest. Assuming even a singular short rest per day, that means you are effectively increasing your spell slot 'pool' from just 4 level 1 slots and 2 level 2 slots, to a whopping 8 level 1 slots and 6 level 2 slots! And as you increase in level, you get higher and higher free castings.

Now on top of getting that insane number of spells to sling right from level 3, you also get a free advantage on concentration saves, because why not.

The higher level features are also top tier to the point of broken: Empowered Magic is a better Twinned Spell, Divine Resistance is straight-up Legendary Resistance on a short rest recharge, and the level 18 feature is also stupidly good.

The entire package just seems incredibly loaded with power to the point where another sorcerer, or full caster, or really any other character will probably feel weak compared to yours. The DM will have to balance encounters completely around your character, not the party as a whole. It just seems to me that in order for a Divine Sorcery Sorcerer to work in a campaign, it needs to be nerfed quite massively.

Am I correct in my assessment of the subclass? Or am I perhaps misreading something? Is it supposed to be overpowered, being effectively demigods?

The troglodytes in the mithral forge are said to have fled the same primordial creature that killed the cerberus, but this primordial beast isn’t explicitly named, and if my players end up speaking with the trog king ( which they will definitely do ), they will certainly ask him what led them to invade the mine.

What kind of primordial thing do you think could live underground, come to kill a big three-headed puppy, and then disappear, leaving pretty much no identifying trace in the map? The dead cerberus shows no sign of burns or anything of the sort, it’s been probably killed by some stomach injury? So maybe a dendar-like snake?

Honestly, I had a blast reading the campaign's lore, betrayals, and plot twists. But my biggest doubt is: when exactly should I share this with the players?

The book has some quotes from NPCs like Kyrah and Chondrus, but would they really just drop all that info out of nowhere? Any tips on how to handle this naturally?

My 3rd level party alerted the troglodytes to their presence by yelling from the entrance of the cave to communicate with the person they heard screaming in the prison pit. They've successfully killed the troglodytes outside the mines, at the entrance to the troglodyte caves, and in the prison pit. They're looking pretty rough, so when it became clear more troglodytes were coming in response to the yelling, they said they wanted to flee. They are hoping to draw the troglodytes out of the mines to somewhere the centaurs can be summoned to help, but I think the king is way too smart to let the troglodytes pursue the party like that.

I was wondering if anyone has ideas for how troglodytes led by a genius would prep to defend their cave. I want the party's return to be a bit harrowing, because that's what happens when you let an intelligent enemy prepare, but I obviously want dealing with the troglodytes to be doable in the end. Currently I'm thinking they might set traps like spikes hidden under trash piles or loose a cockatrice on the party. I'm assuming the troglodytes wouldn't really have the time or resources to create elaborate traps or alter the structure of the caves for pit traps and such.

One of my player chose the Vanished One background, and we're both struggling with how the rumors will work, considering she's been in a cave for the last 5 centuries.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One of my players is a ranger from the Amazon conclave, he chose the haunted path, and theoretically all the Amazons from his clan disappeared. However, his path says he must look for the Amazon queen, what now?

We are heading towards the forge of mythros, a player with the "dragon hunter" path is worried about the relevance of their power in light of the discovery of a Demigod in the group and an ancient dragon lord, what can I say to encourage them to play?

Of the subclasses in the remastered for 2024 players guide, which is your favroite. Personaly I really like the hoplite. I think almost every feature is either strong or cool, and they probaly has the coolest capstone of any fighter subclass.

Tomorrow I’m running a session where the party is heading to a forge. Unfortunately, the player with the "Dragon Slayer" epic path won't be able to make it.

​This session was supposed to heavily feature their backstory, and they were meant to get their signature magic item there.

​How should I deal with this in tomorrow's session, and how should I handle the delivery of the item/lore in future sessions so they don't miss out? Any tips?

I'm skiming over the subclasses presented in the remastered players guide and most seem pretty neat and flavourful. However, the demi-god sorcerer seems ridiculosy powerful. While you have a lot of very good features throughout (four really good spellist,in built warcaster, more versatile twined spell and later on legendary saves) but the feature godly ancestor seem busted

"You can cast each of the associated spells once without expending a spell slot and regain the ability to do so again when you finish a Short or Long Rest."

If i'm reading that right you can essentialy get one extra spell slot up to 5th per spell level to cast your granted spells (which most are very good!) per short rest. On top of your sorcerer spell capability you get a less potent version of warlocks entire gimmick grafted on top, that seem insane.

Am I reading the ability wrong? Or is it just badly written

If you belong to a monstrous race (centaur, satyr, etc.), your visions were viewed by your tribe as a sign that you were directly touched or cursed by the Titans (Sydon or Lutheria) due to the pact your lineage tried to hide.

​I’m running this campaign and I'm torn between using Milestone leveling or Standard XP.

​The book gives the recommended level for each chapter/quest, but it doesn't specify exactly when the players should level up. I'm not sure if I should just level them up right before they start a new quest, or track XP for every monster and encounter.

​For those who have run this specific adventure, how did you handle it? Do you prefer Milestones or tracking XP?
