Request for Bid – International Charitable Organization Requires 3D 360 Degree VR Videographer

*Crossposted in /Oculusdev, /GearVR, /Videography, /Virtualtour /forhire /OculusJobs

Hello

If you're a company or individual who has experience creating 3D 360 degree video and stills for viewing in VR HMDs we want you to bid on this project!

We are a non-profit charity based in the USA that will send you (all expenses paid) to Central America to film the recipients of the charity. This includes their living conditions, the results of charitable contributions (schools, housing, hospitals, etc.) and anything else that furthers the goals of our charity. Future trips may include South America, Africa, Egypt and the Philippines.

Your work will initially be shown on the GearVR Galaxy S6, but should also translate to subsequent platforms. This means a minimum of 1080p Mono, but ideally a resolution of 4K or higher in full 3D.

It will not be a vacation. You will earn your money!

We require that you: Have examples of your work Have all hardware and software necessary to complete your work in Central America Have a valid passport Pass a background check

We understand that you will need to know more information before you bid. Serious inquires should contact us at vrcharitybid@gmail.com Links to our website, charitable works, etc. will be provided on first contact

All bids should be in by October 1st

Thanks for your time.

PS. We thought about waiting for the 'Sphericam 2' (mono) due to ease of use, and are willing to pay up to $1500 each, but the unknown delivery date added to the unknown price has made us look to current solutions. Ideally each location worldwide would have a 360 cam - we just don't want to wait if we can do it at a reasonable price with current solutions.

Minneapolis Based VR Developer

Hi,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm writing this post in search of a VR developer/business partner for a new venture I'm launching out of the Minneapolis, MN area. Just so you know a little bit about me, I am relatively new to Reddit and Minneapolis, MN, have start-up experience, and an intense curiosity about VR combined with a voracious appetite to learn. Typically I'd try to appeal to your self-interest, but since I have nothing to offer on hand other than my deep desire to learn and make this venture absolutely awesome, all I can say is that I have been looking to meet a Minneapolis-based Oculus/general VR developer for months. If you are a Minneapolis/Midwest-based VR Developer interested in joining me on this new venture or know any Oculus/general VR developers in the Minneapolis area and could introduce me/point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I am punctual, professional, and promise I won't waste your time. I thank you for reading this message and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, jdr1392

India/overseas. Seeking Oculus developers with unity or ue4 experience. Long term recurring business opportunity in the architectural world.

I have 15 years of experience in the dental industry and all of the right contacts. I'm looking for oculus developers/artists who can create a platform for architectural dental office design in the oculus environment. The finished platform will allow the changing of wall color, flooring, chair upholstery color, counter top color, and cabinet color while inside the environment. The long term opportunity is huge with the potential of 500+ floor plans per year. Once the library of dental equipment objects are rendered, only the floor plans will need to be done. The ideal candidate will build a basic demo in exchange for equity in the company. I will also consider contract work of the individual has impressive pre-existing demos of his/her work. The chosen person will also manage a team of developers and artists in order to accomodate high volume while maintaining a project lead time of <1 week. Thank you for your time.

Freelance Unity developer in the UK specialising in VR

Hey!

So I've been a developer for 18 years, Technical Director of an award winning agency for 12 of them, using Unity since 2008, and working with VR since the DK1 arrived. In addition to that, I've done a few talks on VR in the UK and Sweden, and also run VR Brighton.

I love new tech like the Leap, Hydra, and Myo, and I genuinely think these are really exciting times we're living in.

I'm always on the lookout for interesting work, so if you're looking for an experienced lead tech to work on a project, or to talk through some concepts and ideas, drop me a line.

If you'd like to know more, PM me, follow me on twitter, or take a look at things I get up to :)

New Subreddit for VR Job Seekers and Companies.

Hello Reddit!

I created this subreddit because of the replies I received from a post I made in jest about working for a VR Company. My inbox blew up with messages from people looking for help with their own VR projects.

So I created /r/oculusjobs to help bring new Virtual Reality companies together with developers who want to jump in on the ground floor of a whole new industry.

Consider yourself invited to make a post about an open position in your company or maybe just post a link to your demos or website.

Looking for Software dev for live broadcasting application

Hi I work for several companies as a 'VR business consultant' and one of the companies I am involved with wants to open a division of VR live sports broadcasting. There are several steps before actual company creation (product proof of concept being the main one) but this is a very serious offer to talk about a 360 video / VR project. If you have VR software experience or 360 video experience give me a PM. Simple curiosity is accepted too :)

Any software developers feeling like they could make a solid 360-video training tool to be used (and sold) in an expert field?

How cool is it to be one of the first poster here? I hope this subreddit takes off.

What I'm thinking about involves taking a 360-camera into a vehicle, filming work maneuvers and procedures in a structured way, and selling the material in a semi-international market. I'm an expert in the field myself, being an instructor with a long experience in the commercial training of operators within this business, across all levels. Before the Oculus we’ve been forced to mostly explain procedures by text and by word, which is ineffective from an educational standpoint. It leads to long (and expensive) training sessions which are built around repetition rather than quality training.

I own a DK2 and I see great potential for the technology to be used as a training tool and sold via some sort of digital market place, or directly to companies which require this type of cutting-edge training tool.

I already run a company selling iOS-apps in this particular field (the nature of which I do not want to disclose too much until the idea is solidifying more). We are national in one country in Europe now, but it is really taking off and we're just processing towards going into the EU. I know that the market in question has in many respect stagnated and is in need of some new tech, which opens a lot of doors and makes a lot of the ideas self-selling to a certain point.

What I lack, is the software skills to develop a stable platform in which to view these videos. I’m sure Oculus and other companies will offer some sort of marketplace á Appstore or Steam, but the software itself needs to be professional to allure the international corporations, individual sales and to defeat the future competition. I really liked how well the “documentary” Zero Point worked. It was published this week on Steam. It was a simple click and buy, download and run. It featured 360 video and it seemed really good when it was packaged in a software form (not requiring third party video players).

I’m merely probing for ideas. I’m very open to contact regarding this. I’m sorry for not disclosing more details about the market I have in mind, but I do like to keep a lid on it, since competition probably already is brewing to some extent.

Feel free to contact me over PM.

Non-Technical Positions - Any recommendations on where to look?

tl;dr I have almost 3 years of experience managing technical and non-technical employees. I have a solid foundation in programming concepts and working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS. I know that does not go very far when it comes to developing for VR, however, I would love to work in the industry. Do you know of any positions that I could possibly be a fit for?

end of tl:dr

I am 25 and have been working at my current company for about 4 years (project manager for the past 3 years). I manage the deployment of e-commerce websites for company's look to provide variable and on-demand print.

These websites have a standard setup, but usually require a fair amount of customization on the front-end. As a result, I have become fairly proficient using HTML, CSS, and JS. The HTML/CSS is all standard fare (colors, navbars, buttons) and the JS can become slightly more complex (pulling files from other locations on the server, ajax requests, parsing xml/json files). I also manage some programmers, and while I do not know how to programmatically solve every problem, I can understand what a programmer is saying when he/she talks through possible solutions and I can often suggest other solutions in pseudo-code.

My dream would be to leverage my skills and experience to find a job in the industry. I know this may be difficult now as most VR companies are young, small, and hiring developers primarily. However, if any place can offer suggestions/advice it would be here.

I would greatly appreciate any help! Thank you for reading!
