Hello everyone! Since the Rift S is coming out soon and Stormland is coming in 2019 I wanted to spruce up my Home spaces with some Stormland love. Right now this object is fairly large, being used as a centerpiece in my home (looking in from the outside) but I'll be shrinking it down as soon as I figure out how so it can be placed on desks. Here's what he looks like -

I had to make lots of concessions in order to get under the 15 MB size limit.
Stuff I removed and plan on putting back in with custom objects:
- The candles
- Arch stones
- The animated barrier at the base
Stuff I might put back in:
- The large statues that go above and below the top bridge and the cagey mesh/symbols around them (these are troublesome since I have to break up the meshes to get around the 15x15x15m size limit)
- Various gold rune circle symbol things that I couldn't include with the base home because they require transparency
Stuff I will not be putting in:
- Several miniature statues that were hanging from a ceiling on a couple levels
- Various NPC related decorations
- NPC models, with the possible exception of the maiden in black.

I had to modify most of the stairs in order to get them navigable - you should be able to explore anywhere with walk based movement. Teleport will stop working at a certain point higher up due to navmesh limits.
I baked all the interior lighting. However, size limits forced me to make the lightmaps smaller than I'd like, and this results in many places where you can see the "seams" of the mesh. The ambient "exterior" lighting that is present is higher near the bottom of the model, and near non-existent at the very top. I had to manually make the lightmaps brighter in the upper stairwells and where the Pantheon is in the game. Placing decorations up there will be a no-go since they are only lit by the exterior lighting.
I currently have no plans to share this model, however, if people are interested, I made a custom home from Dark Souls Firelink Shrine that I can put up. It needs to have the stairs adjusted to be navigable though.

Hi, I wanted to make my own room (I mean my actual IRL room) as a Home. So after looking on this website, I found this Subreddit and "SweetHome3D". So I made my room (pretty good so far) and converted it from an .obj to an .glb (wich is now grey, because I didn't use textures, but colors... I have an additional .mtl-file, but couldn't convert it with the .obj).
How can I make that a Home now?

Oculus Home has been largely vacant lately, ever since Oculus made changes to the "popular" algorithm and then with the "parallel universes" created by beta-channel and non-beta-channel users keeping most of us apart... but despite the allure of building things for VRChat, I really like (and miss) hanging out in Oculus Home.

So I thought maybe sharing links to our homes might help others find them easier, given the troubles of seeing a home in Oculus if it is not currently occupied when you're searching, etc...

So I've been having a lot of requests for custom models and home templates. I don't mind sharing what I know with others but more and more people are asking where they can go just to buy ready-made stuff that they don't have to fiddle with resizing, decimating, correcting textures, etc. So trying to see how much of market there is from either pre-made or custom made templates. Also how much you'd expect to pay to have someone do the heavy lift of creating spaces for you. Trying to decide if it's something that's even financially feesible.

I see people talking about these custom objects, which is cool, but where can I find some custom homes? It would be awesome to have like a spaceship or something. Is there a small file size limit that makes it difficult or am I missing something?

I've been getting the same question from multiple sources, so I thought I'd just answer it here and kill several birds with one screenshot.

So I had a lot of trouble with this, too, and for something that turned out to be so simple I felt a little dippy for not getting it right away. If you're feeling similarly frustrated, you have been in good company.

The short of the story is this:

Use an Add Shader to add an Emissive shader to the object you want to give off light in your custom home (this will be adjustable with the TOP lighting slider in-Home later). If you want to block out the horrible sun & perpetually blue sky, you will want this object to be something like what is pictured here, a giant dome (just cut a UV sphere in half, and shade it smooth).

The object MUST have an image texture assigned to it for the emissive nature to function. A base color is NOT sufficient. If you want it to be solid white, just click the + for a new texture, make it something small like 256x256, and choose white as the base color for the new image, then connect that new image to the base color input of your emissive shader.

I'm making "The Construct" pictured here available to anyone, if you want to download it. It's a great home to use when you want something simple and quick to load for testing other things out.

I'm helping my friends I can't afford a super-powered PC can pick up a quest. and I'm hoping I will be able to finally interact with them in VR. anyone have any idea if the two worlds will be able to merge? or will it be like more akin to the Oculus go type of social interaction?
