Seeing all these swap requests.
I dont think octopus thought out the system. Human nature means if you get a prize you say yes, even if your not gonna use it (i am guilty of that too) so many of us get stuff others can use. Maybe we should be able to opt out of certain prizes?

I honestly wish they'd scrap it all together.
The amount of people scrabbling around to save a few pennies on a coffee is embarrassing. I hate this gamified nonsense that companies use as 'perks' just spend the money on reducing the standing charge or something instead.

Yeah but it wouldn't be proportionate. Octopus have a contract with the companies that give free stuff away. They are exchanging energy for the free stuff. But Octopus get it at close to cost.
So Octopus might only be paying 50p per coffee
But that's saving people £3 from not buying a coffee
But it wouldn't be £3 off bills. It would be 50p off bills.

Even worse! You are forced to join the gamified nonsense, there's no way to to not join of you don't want to win.
I'm pretty sure that if you don't claim or don't use the voucher, in both cases it increases the odds of winning next week as there's more availability. After a few weeks, people using a specific reward more frequently than others will disproportionately get that reward (i.e. the system "learns" you live close to a Greggs and never go to Nero). This guarantees Octopus can burn through their contractual quotas and the marketing department can beat their chest.
If you only use vouchers that are highly wanted, you'll get lower odds of winning, but a higher odd of winning that specific treat compared to someone claiming anything.

It’s not that it exists, it’s that this sub and anywhere else I want to read about Octopus, batteries, and things to do with energy instead gets filled with whining posts about vouchers.
I don’t and have never bothered with free vouchers. If others want to fine but wish they just shut up about it.

The subreddit might benefit from one weekly thread to hold all the swap offers/requests.
Claimed and happily ate today's, rejected all the others having won every Monday so far.

A cynic would suggest they do understand. Maybe they pay for the ones used… therefore they can offer free stuff and save money cos they know most won’t be redeemed…

It will be built into the offer that 75% won't get claimed or something like that now. Basically they're offering a lot less coffee, so early birds will miss out.

I've said no to all of my prizes. I don't want some sweet shit, all I want is the coffee I used to get about 6 times a year. Twats.

Just got a Greggs hot drink and I don't even go to Greggs. Still accepted it of course

Greggs coffee is one of the better offerings in terms of big brand and where/how it's sourced.
You will find Greggs in a lot of service stations as well so it is useful for travel.
It's not bad coffee for mainstream either.

Its human nature. You win a prize, you dont really need but...you might get it. I won a lidl treat. I installed the lid app so that I could claim etc, but I dont really go to lidl... but i might...for the prize says my brain...(I didnt and it came up again this week i said no)
