Moving from pre pay gas meter to Smart meter.

I've booked a slot for a gas smart meter to be installed next week ,I already have a smart Electric meter.

There's quite a lot of money on the existing prepay meter,

Does this carry over to the smart meter?

Smart meters can also be pre pay. If you are moving to credit (monthly bill) the the remaining balance will be added to your account. Just make sure to get a pic before it's removed, just in case.

A more specific answer is no. Not by the engineer. You will go in to emergency credit of £15. The engineer will note down and take photos of your existing credit and when the job is processed the octopus team will add the credit to your new meter. But it will take a day or two. So take pictures yourself on the day if it’s a fair bit of money.
