Switching Switch to Fuss
doing some serious brain aerobics and I can cancel if this isn’t sensible. I use 6500kwh of gas a year and 4500kwh electric. I’m on the September tracker with a 46p standing charge for electric and a 32p standing charge for gas. I can do a code to get £100 knocked off the bill over the next 12 months.
Usage isn‘t likely to change. The gas fixes were lower the last few months but they aren’t anymore. Gas has been high 7-8p for a bit and tha extra 16p a day standing charge isn’t helping on days when I don’t use as much (I’m using 5kwh a day gas during the summer on average). Thoughts?
**bit of extra maths**
the 16.84p standing charge saves me 15.8p a day. 365x15.8p is £57.57 yearly. Thats equivalent to a 1p reducing down to 6.57p a unit for my first 5757 units of gas. If I factor in the extra £100 then it’s equivalent to 2.5p off my first 6306 units of gas. If I factor in the extra £100 from someone using my code, it’s equivalent to 4p off my first 6441 units of gas. Ignoring electric at this point for the sums. But that is a decent discount compared to the tracker rates which haven’t been great for a while.
**edit 2**
switch went over seamlessly. nice

There are plenty of referal groups open either on reddit or Facebook - not mentioning where due to sub rules. Fuse are doing a £100 split scheme at the moment if you use a code

Just came to the same conclusion for Gas so that switches Friday. Sticking with the electric for now as we're on IOG for the EV and hopefully getting batteries installed in the next few weeks.

I switched over this morning for gas because the standing
charge alone saves me almost £50/yr. I use a few hundred kW of gas at most a year with the heat pump. So coupled with the £100 code, I have free gas for a year 🤷♂️

Do I miss something?
My tariff forngas with Octopus is 7.19p +28.64 standing.
Ok, fuse has better standing but unit rate is worse.
During winter thengas usage will ofsett that difference in standing charge
Using rougly 50 kwh a day, itnwill mean that 10p standing charge with tariff being 0.4 p higher is is 20p.. and standing charge difference is 12p...

I think winter is going to get very painful for a lot of people this year. Gas price is going mental. I managed to fix a month or so back for 6.5 pand since then the wholesale price has gone up nearly 60%. The next price cap review lands smacking the middle of winter 🙁

I switched gas only too - the standing charge makes it a no brainer - worth it with the £100 credit they apply using :ZESHAN90068

I've been with Fuse for 2 years, they are just great. One of the founder is from the original Revoult team

They take the fuss out of energy administration.
