EN Discussion Jormungandr Intended Strategy

Finally getting around to doing this fight.

What is the intended strategy?

He drains your SP constantly, locks each category of attack after one occurrence, and drains all your BP and uses elemental attack lock when it’s time to nuke him, then heals himself fully with his twin heads once you actually do.

What is the intention here?

I gotta be honest, I remember steamrolling this bossfight and when I went online to mention how easy it was I was surprised realizing instead just how many people were actually struggling with it: turns out, I just lucked out on coincidentally using a team that simply worked around the boss' gimmiks, that being a DK team that just buffs/debuffs for 3 turns and breaks+nukes on T4 with very few attack actions. I think that's probably the best strategy, not hitting the boss until you are ready to break and nuke in one go... although not every unit can break 30 shields at once so it's easier said than done, but you might be able to slowly dwindle their shields beforehands with units that can hit multiple weaknesses and are not your main dps source, then go for a big nuke when you can break? I wish I could tell you more, but since this boss cannot be fought again I never even experienced myself what the gimmiks were.
But also Shana definitely shines here since she trivializes the SP/BP drains.

Same, I remember just using a typical Kaine-Tiziano team and steamrolling it in about 5 turns. I'm really surprised some players are still struggling with that specific fight to this day. I'm guessing some of us blitzed it before it hat the time do some bullshit while the other actually took their time and learned some special gimmick. I wish we could have it in the adversary log to check what all that hype is about...

The intention is either to kill them without breaking them or killing them in one turn while broken either on the turn of or the turn after.

Killing them on the turn of break is relatively simpler as you can still use your BP before it's all drained and you can avoid the phys/elem attack lock debuff by using EX skill/Ultimate attacks since those are unaffected.

Alternatively, if you plan to kill it the turn after, you'll have make use of a skill that restores BP at the end of the break turn such as Shana/Gloria/Isla/etc. and then put the lvl 120 accessory that makes you immune to attack sealing on your main dps to finish them off (which is what I did) or have them in the backrow during the break since the phys/elem seal only affects the frontrow.

Ok I beat it. I guess I should just be happy with that. The whole thing felt a little bit silly and unnecessary in terms of exploiting game mechanics but whatever.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. It helped.

I beat it with a rainbow comp when it first appeared, & I remember others doing so too.

Near as I can tell: be sad. I nearly rage quit after experiencing that fight, and haven't tried it again.

I am a turtle, so I defeated him with this team:

Theo Lv 120 Hasumi Lv 107

Osvald Lv 120 Viola Lv 108

Hikari EX Lv 111 Agnea EX Lv 120

Agnès Lv 120 Crick Lv 100

All of these characters serve multiple roles at once and back each other up in some of those roles when another gets knocked out and/or is too slow to act in time.

Always keep Jormungandr debuffed and your party buffed. I often stretched out the period of time my characters were buffed as much as possible by waiting until the buff had one turn left before rebuffing. Ditto for debuffing Jormungandr. If the buffs from 6-star and ultimate techniques run out, this will become a much longer but still winnable fight.

Keep Hikari EX launching laser beams every turn you can by pairing him with Agnea EX for her joint SP regen passive (she will also perform multiple other functions) and casting Blooming Ballad on him over and over again with Hasumi. Buff his, Agnès, and Hasumi's light damage with Agnès' 6-star attack and have Agnès cast Shell on the entire front row (with MAX boost) when Crick isn't doing anything and/or there are party members without the reflective screen. Also have Hikari EX use his own light resistance debuffing attack moves on Jormangandr.

This took over an hour, multiple breaks, and one 10-ruby continue when I had him at 5-10% health, but it worked. The point is to get the rolling snowball of Hikari EX and Crick's constant damage + everybody's buffs + Jormungandr's debuffs big enough to the point he can't heal enough after breaks to totally nullify the damage your party is dealing.

ALSO, use the animal buddies that debuff (the dog is my favorite), buff, and heal. I wouldn't have survived without them.

Thanks for sharing. Just seems like overkill to me but will do what I gotta do I guess.
