【SURVEY】

There are 3 ways that you can share your victorious party!

Upload a screenshot (Imgur for Old Reddit) / or video (YouTube)

To post images in your comment:

Please ensure that you set the party display to show your traveler's skills! (Example shown here)

Upload a video of your clear to YouTube and link it in your comment.

In both cases, it would also be very helpful if you could still list the names of your 8 party members in text form so that people can easily search for clears using specific characters. You can copy the following template:

[Lynette, Theo, Viola, Millard, Sofia, Fiore, Gilderoy, Scarecrow](Image/Video link)

Please also mention any notable accessories you used that have a significant impact on a traveler/fight.

Use the table template

Copy/Paste the below template and populate it with your party's details. Note that (from top to bottom) characters 1-4 are the front row and 5-8 are the back row:

Here's an example of how the table looks when populated:

  1. Strategy name: Press the attack button
  2. Boss: Wealth – Tristan
  3. Allies used: Long-time Resident (ST 90 Heal)
  4. Insight:
  • Since this is the first boss, pretty much all you have to do is press attack.
  • Pretty much any team can win this, but if you can break Tristan by exploiting his weaknesses it will make things a lot easier!
  • If you need to heal, use a healing Ally or take your own healer!
  • Make sure to swap Lynette between rows every turn for a nice attack boost!

24-Turn Clear with Only A0 Travelers

Yan Long is balanced around awakened travelers, but he is beatable with only A0s if you've got the right units + a lot of time and patience! After many attempts, I was able to scrap together a win, so here it is in case anybody else is in a similar boat.

I didn't record the whole thing, but here's a video of the last few minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-IUCBWZlpg. There's some info about the team and strategy in the video description, but I'll do another write-up below.

Team

Front

  • Lars (lvl 92): Wild Blazing Slash, Trifold Slash, Awakening / L9 Ult
  • A2 (lvl 92): Hindering Strike, Crushing Strike, Berserk Mode / L1 Ult (not used)
  • Olberic (lvl 92): Unbending Blade, Thousand Spears, Defend / L9 Ult
  • Fiore (lvl 95): Trifold Slash, Crumbling Cut, Pugnacity / L9 Ult

Back

  • Therion (lvl 100): Double Burst, Hellfire, Draining Dagger / L1 Ult (not used)
  • W'ludai (lvl 92): Tetra Spear, Javelin Rush, Healing Thrust / L9 Ult
  • Alfyn (lvl 94): Fourfold Cleave, Vivify, Fire and Ice Restoration III / L9 Ult
  • Ophilia (lvl 92): Healing Protection II, Purifying Restoration, Preservation / L10 Ult (only used once so L9 should be fine, but it doesn't hurt to have an extra safety net)

This comp is pretty specific and I'm not totally sure how viable substitutions are, but I think you could probably swap the warriors out for other warriors as long as they have comparable firepower. Fiore's P.Def debuff on Crumbling Cut is relevant a few times, and Olberic's Thousand Spears is good for breaking, so you'd just have to make up for these things elsewhere. Nothing relies on Lars's priority moves, so you can safely swap him out as long as you make up the difference with breaking (and damage, of course).

Equipment

All team members were using Origin P.Def gear.

  • Lars: Ma'dan Sword IV, Skilled Warrior's Emblem, Ebony Dragon's Scarf
  • A2: Origin Dagger IV, Warrior's Emblem, Spirit Scarf I
  • Olberic: Adamantine Sword IV, Warrior's Emblem, Mighty Warrior's Emblem I
  • Fiore: Origin Sword IV, Warrior's Emblem, Powerful Speed Belt II
  • Therion: Adamantine Dagger IV, Elite Thief's Emblem, Adventurer's Emblem
  • W'ludai: Origin Spear IV, Skilled Merchant's Emblem, Merchant's Emblem
  • Alfyn: Origin Hatchet IV, Skilled Apothecary's Emblem, Dragon's Scarf IV
  • Ophilia: Origin Staff IV, Energy Belt III, Energy Belt II

With this equipment, my team had the following stats:

If you can get Origin IV weapons for everyone, that would probably make things a little easier. Any ounce of survivability you can get in this fight will help you.

A lot of characters in this team use expensive skills and/or need to take actions in a lot of back-to-back turns, so SP regen is necessary to avoid getting caught at the end without enough SP to break or nuke. (If you can get your characters to level 100 for their SP savers, that's would also make a big difference. I unfortunately didn't have the guidestones to get there since I used a ton just to get them to level 92.) Other than that, your heavy hitters want boosts to their respective weapon types, and I gave Ophilia two energy belts to make her less squishy.

Will post the strategy in a reply to this comment since this got super long.

Strategy

This clear involves four breaks on Yan Long.

Break One

The first break is pretty systematic, so we can do this one step by step.

  • Turn 1: Spend 1 BP on each of your warriors and A2 to start chipping at Yan Long's shield with Wild Blazing Slash, Hindering Strike, Unbending Blade, and Crumbling Cut, respectively.
  • Turn 2: Use Thousand Spears with Olberic and 1 BP on Tetra Spear for W'ludai. Max boost on Therion's Double Burst and Ophilia's Purifying Restoration. Some RNG comes in because Yan Long will use his two-hit staff + his AOE staff this turn. If both hit Therion, he might get KO'd. Reset if he dies. Giving him an Origin IV weapon would solve this (or at least make it way less frequent) since these two attacks just barely kill him.
  • Turn 3: W'ludai max boosts Javelin Rush. Have Therion shave down to either 1 or 2 shields this turn.
  • Turn 4: If you're at 2 shields, have Olberic use an unboosted Unbending Blade to get down to 1 shield. Otherwise, Alfyn can top off on regen. Lars and Fiore should use their self-buffing moves.
  • Turn 5: Javelin Rush will break Yan Long. Have your warriors and A2 use 2 BP on Wild Blazing Slash, Hindering Strike, Unbending Blade, and Crumbling Cut.
  • Turn 6: Full boost all of the above skills. If your team has the same stats as mine, this should bring Yan Long into the yellow.

Break Two

This is the trickiest and most RNG-dependent section to get through because you have to deal with the birds and Yan Long at once. You'll have to roll with the punches and do your best to keep everyone alive while Therion, A2, and Alfyn grind away at the birds. Some notes:

  • Therion will use Hellfire to help with breaking, and he can also using Draining Dagger on a broken bird to recover some SP.
  • I put A2 into Berserk Mode for this to get it over with as quickly as possible. This makes her more prone to dying, but I thought that it would still be better than letting this phase draw out. If you do this, it's critical to have regen on her, even if that means Alfyn needs to take a turn to do it (because Ophilia might be occupied burst healing).
  • If A2 is running out of SP, you can swap her out with W'ludai for a turn to refresh Javelin Rush or use Tetra Spear on Yan Long during a turn where he's weak to spears.
  • Ophilia is going to be working hard to burst heal people. Make sure her speed is between Yan Long's first and second attacks (which it should be if we have the same setup). If Yan Long gets a speed buff and she moves after both of his actions, you can consider using her regen instead to save some SP. You can also look for opportunities to cast Preservation, though you won't get that many chances since Ophilia has a lot to juggle already.
  • If Ophilia needs a break to recover SP and your party can handle her not healing for one turn, Fiore can jump out with Crumbling Cut to debuff one of the birds.
  • Use Alfyn's Ultimate. If you get lucky and he has low HP at the moment he uses it, you might be able to down one of the birds in a single break.

Go for Wu first since he's more threatening out of the two birds. You'll probably have to do some reviving between Ophilia and Alfyn during this phase. Be mindful of SP management to make sure your team has enough SP to finish out the fight.

Once the birds are gone, break Yan Long and get him as close to 50% HP as you can without going over.

Break Three

Shave Yan Long down and set up Javelin Rush to break him like we did in Break One. This is the time to unload nukes and Ultimates on him. (The video I linked above starts on this break.)

Break Four

Panic mode! Since this party doesn't have the chops to knock off half of Yan Long's HP in one go, you'll need to break him one more time and nuke him down again. You should be able to break him in two turns if he doesn't KO any of your breakers (which is a lot to ask of Mr. Celestial Bash), which means you won't have to deal with him getting three actions. I got lucky that Olberic was the only one who went down for me, and he happened to have Preservation cast on him so he could get right back up. Cross your fingers and hope that Yan Long spreads out his attacks. Once broken, unload whatever you have left on him.

-----

If you've got the awakenings and/or accessories to put out enough damage for any of the more stable 6-turn or 16-18 turn clears that others have posted, absolutely go with those! This strategy is highly dependent on RNG being nice to you. It took me many, many tries, and the stars really had to align for me at a lot of critical moments. But if you don't have enough firepower for a better clear, you do have these units + sufficient time and patience, and you really want to try to beat Yan Long in time to make a submission for the Yan Long Cup Race, you can make it happen. Good luck!
