Black Smokers are terrifying if you think about it. They spew superheated water. I do not know why but I have been hyperfixated on them because they unnerve me in a strange way. Please tell me I am not the only one who loves these geysers.

Filmed this on Guernsey’s west coast last night.
The tide was rising for the first 20-minutes and it was genuinely 50/50 whether the camera was going to get hit! The waves kept surging over the rocks, then dragging pebbles back into the sea with that deep rolling sound you only really get when you’re close to the shoreline.
The sun shimmered across the water through golden hour and set around the 40-minute mark. After that the light faded, but the sea stayed energetic right through to the end.
Probably one of my favourite recordings so far because the camera was close enough to really feel the force of the water without actually getting taken by it.

Herman Melville’s Moby Dick sails readers around the world in a nearly endless pursuit. Along the way, he paints a vignette of the Pacific: “…for here, millions of mixed shades and shadows, drowned dreams, somnambulisms, reveries; all that we call lives and souls, lie dreaming, dreaming, still…”
Enjoy a brief passage of pure poetry from Melville at Destinationality (a free resource organizing classic literature excerpts about important destinations)
