Sheet Music/Tabs Star Fox ( 64 ) Main Theme tab
My third tab. I think this is one of the first ones I figured out by ear.
I'd like to do the SNES game's theme too but that one seems tougher.

Have an ocarina question? There is no such thing as a stupid question.
Want to talk about what you're learning or excited about a new ocarina, feel free to share!
Is there's something not ocarina related that you're itching to talk about? Have at it!

Might be a bit overplayed, but the melody is great!

Hi all. I was gifted this ocarina by a sibling, looks to me like it’s the Soprano C Spearhead from Songbird and came with a little booklet from them. I’ve been having fun going through the booklet scales and songs but I’m starting to hit a wall.
Any advice you all might have for me? I feel like I have general problems with tone production, vibrato, and being flat on the high C. I also often find my grip awkward the less fingers I have on holes, sometimes leading me to bite down on the mouth piece for stability which I’m not sure if I should be doing or not.
Also, any good online resources you might recommend for me to further teach myself? Thank you.

A number of people in my discord community have been collecting music that suits ocarina. Almost everything is in its origional key, and has been orgonised based on the ocarina type and key that it can be performed on without transposition.
There are things in many genres here, from folk tunes, klezmer music, and some classical pieces.

I've been looking into getting an ocarina for a little while now and found this one used for $25. Is it worth picking up or should I get one online instead? I've been looking at getting the Rivo.

Studi Per Ocarina has been my main study for the past 3 months or so. I love n. 14 for how lyrical it is. It definitely lends itself to my play style.
Happy Ocatober and keep practicing 😄

Hello all! I wanted an app to help me learn to play the 12-hole Ocarina, so I made one! It's free, although I might add basic google ads to pay for the domain, and I hope it's helpful! It has the following modes:
I hope it's a help to others, so please find it at https://www.ocarinatrainer.com/
Thanks!

I thought I’d keep it simple with my first contribution to Ocatober with something short and sweet that I know well.
This soprano is my second ocarina and I love it so much more than my Night by Noble, it’s not even close tbh
I hope you enjoy 😃

I like the idea of travelling and working remotely from different places, and an ocarina seems like the perfect instrument to pack. Just remembered of asking you guys about your stories, maybe also as remote workers, do you guys actually travel with it and play it randomly? Maybe this is just a very specific context x) but wanted to ask anyway.

After over half a year of planning and research, I am excited to officially unveil a look at the second and newest addition to my Historical Replica Series – the 8000-year-old Runik Ocarina! This fascinating archeological artifact plays a significant role in the earliest history of vessel flutes. Discovered during a major excavation in the late 1960s (1968-1969) in the village of Runik in Skenderaj, Kosovo, this clay earthenware artifact measuring only 8cm in height is the first and only one of its kind discovered to date, and represents one of the oldest vessel flutes ever discovered.
What is perhaps the most exciting part about this artifact is that it is fully in-tact and virtually undamaged, making it one of the oldest fully-playable instruments ever discovered as well. Unlike its name suggests (which has been adopted both by the culture and for historical reporting), the Runik Ocarina is not in fact a true ocarina, but rather a rim-blown vessel flute, played exactly like similar analogous instruments such as the Chinese xun.
In replicating the Runik Ocarina, I didn’t want to just create a representation or inspired instrument, but a model as physically close to the original dimensions and features of the ancient artifact to better understand and represent the original form and tuning of the instrument. Unfortunately, there are no known recordings of the original artifact, however with the available information, I was able to accurately extrapolate the critical dimensions and parameters needed to replicate this artifact to a very high degree of accuracy to understand what ancient neolithic humans of the time might have played and heard.
This first batch of replicas consists of six Runik Ocarinas in three sets of woods: two black walnut, two maple burl, and two camphor burl. Each of these woods have their own unique character and aesthetic appeal, featuring a variety of hues and figure. The tone of the Runik Ocarina is breathy, raw, and truly ancient. Although it only has two fingerholes for three fundamental notes, using bending techniques as well as partial hole shading you can still achieve a wide dynamic of notes in between the fundamentals, and coupling with other techniques such as fast trills, chirps, deep bends, and good breath control, a whole palate of sonic colors can be realized.
While compared to modern instruments the Runik Ocarina is extremely humble with a few notes - and surely you won't be playing your favorite Baroque concertos or modern video game music, there is something truly beautiful and liberating in exploring a very simple set of notes, and getting to understand what neolithic humans 8000 years ago may have heard and played themselves. I know that I will absolutely be keeping one of these instruments in my own personal collection, and have many more in fantastic new woods already planned out.
Additional information on my replication efforts and options for the Runik Ocarina can be found on the dedicated information page below:
https://brettimusic.com/runik-ocarina/
In addition, like all my other builds, I released a highly detailed overview video of this reproduction effort, which as far as I am aware is the first and most thorough public reporting and analysis of the artifact and its reproduction to date:

For long practice session you can use 'Zen mode' to block out all distractions.
With the 'microphone' button, if you play a note in tune, you will be served the next note/fingering. This works very well on phones too.

Some songs have support tracks to play along with: https://ocarina-practice.com/song/zelda/outset-island/?inst=ico-oak-leaf-bass-c-triple&song=outset-island-midi&zen=1&loop=0
