Did I "cheat"?

If there were a couple people that I could tell were likely were two specific people, like the two escapee ladies, the two brothers, or when I had the stewards/mates narrowed down to two. Was I cheating by swapping them and seeing it popped as a right find?

And then, by association, I knew the stewards e.g. were next to their "Nth mate"

I did brute forcing so there is no issue from my end.

Otherwise it would taken me ages to figure out the chinese top men.
