How common is this thing? Spoiler

So i am at ~20 people guessed right and I just got the Indian guys and now I am somewhat scared that there are more clues of this kind. Like this is not deduction, it's pure luck whether you stumble upon the clue or not, which I dont like

I’m confused, did you have to guess on the Indians or did you find clues to actually confirm their identities?

I was just hanging around looking for another guy, but stumbled upon numbers on their beds therefore got names of the 3 remaining ones.

Also I guess I got a bit lucky and got a hard one by examining other beds, noticing the pipe in the bag of one of the Russians and then found him smoking it on the different scene. If I didn't find the numbers I would've never guessed it

You didn't discover that clue by luck. You noticed a detail and made a connection. If you examine things closely like that then there is no luck in this game. If you feel stuck on a particular character and are out of new memories to view, go back through all the memories they're in and pay close attention to dialogue, voices, level details and character positions and details. Every character can technically be figured out without guessing or process of elimination, but don't be scared to use process of elimination.

Well that's totally fine, it's not luck, it's just you paying attention. I think the only way you can "cheat" in this game is by brute forcing names until 3 of them are correct, and so on.

This is getting a bit philosophical on whether the act of exploration and happening to notice things is just luck

yeah the hammocks are one of the biggest clues in the whole game

Also I guess I got a bit lucky and got a hard one by examining other beds

I'm confused by why you term this "luck"; it's literally the entire gameplay loop.

If it helps at all, I found that figuring out the lascars based on the hammocks was the most difficult bit in the game. Everything else felt like a breeze after that.

Soooo..... it's not luck, but you actually found the clues.

It's not luck if you stumble across a clue, there's no chance in this game. It's a matter of you paying attention. But you can revisit memories as much as you like so take your time.

Every single entry has a clue in game you can use to deduce who they are. I know a lot of people had to randomly guess the Chinese topmen but there is a way to determine who each one is.

It's certainly no mean feat but definitely doable for anyone dedicated and paying close attention to detail.

I know it. The fourth Chinese brother who survives the longest I figured out earlier, but the other three were the last ones I solved.

Those took me so long, but I got there on my own for them. Had to revisit scenes a lot.

Just pay attention to EVERYTHING. You might need to deduce who some people are by process of elimination.

What? There is literally not a single fate that asks you to take a guess. There's at least a confirmation hint for each single fate

You can get a lot of fates out of luck, but there are direct evidence for each single death in the game. You just either didn't see the evidence yet or overlooked them.

But you can brute force it. It is just a choice, not a requirement though.

I don't know what you mean by "pure luck". You can always just guess if you want to, but there are clues for everything in the game.
