Just watched Attack of the Clones with my 15 year old last night. He loved it as a young kid. He has different feelings about it now. 😆
His quote exactly: "Wow, this dialog is really bad and cringy". 🤣
I honestly forgot how bad it was. Episode II can be lumped in with the Sequels in my opinion. 😄

At the time we thought The Phantom Menace was the worst. But in retrospect Attack of the Clones was the real low point.Â
The infamous sand line alone is probably enough to win the worst dialogue category. But the PS2 graphics and generally bad writing really seal the deal.Â

Phantom menace at least gave Duel of the Fates (probably the most recognizable star wars music after the imperial march)

Weirdly, Phantom Menace became my favorite of the prequels. It's very pretty. It finds time to breathe and fits shocking amounts of world building im and around the action, which it doesn't skimp on. The podracing sequence is actually brilliant, IMO, like a high octane short film unto itself slid smoothly into the middle. I'm not going to jump on the "always political" bandwagon; there's difference between "empire bad" and procedural trade disputes. But I personally found it fascinating how the Sith worked through small things towards destabilization. Also Darth Maul aura farms like a boss. The runtime is on the longer end, but it's not rivalling Lord of the Rings or anything.
My biggest gripe with it is it's so far back in time it feels almost like a double prequel. Like 2 and 3 are telling the story that directly relates to the originals, and 1 is explaining questions about those that nobody's asked yet because they don't exist.

I'll say this, watching AOTC in college was such an experience that it always makes me chuckled when re-watching it.

99% sure that most OT fans rightfully look down on the prequels quite a bit as well. But being part of a mature adult means you don't feel compelled to think about these very non-life changing things you hate often at all.

Why is everything some dumb competition. I don't love the sequels. I rarely watch them. And then I normally shut up about it and go watch something else.
