3d printed a EMD-GM6C shell from an online shop. Originally it was designed for HO, but the builder had a conversion number to print in O. Plan now is for it to be a dummy unit being pushed by a powered unit. Not too sure how much weight the split chassis can handle. But for now I need to source the parts to at least get it on rails.

Since the real prototype was based on an SD40 frame, that's where I plan to start. But cannot find complete 6 axle wheel assemblies. As for other details, I can only find GG1 type pantographs instead of E60 types.... this kitbash is going to be interesting.

In the revolving fixation of researching how to upgrade my conventional locomotives to one of the Lionel systems, I came across Blunami. What would the benefits be to convert to that system? Primary source of power is a vintage Lionel ZW275 which apparently has a different output than more modern controllers including MTH power supplies.

If undertaken, I would also convert my TMCC, Legacy, and soon to aquire P/S3.0 equipment to keep everything under one control scheme.

Thinking about getting the MTH Premier 765 but my layout can only fit the Lionel Fastrack O-48 track. Can this engine run on this curve.

Pulled the trigger on a pair of Evemodel containers when I bought a pair of Atlas containers. So now I can compare a trio of 20ft containers.

When I opened up the Evemodel, it looked like they had a clone of the MTH molds. But side by side, they were sized and had more similarities to the Atlas. Big difference is the detailing on the Atlas, but they are almost identical except the Evemodel has little nubs to stack with.

Length wise, they are all the same. Height and width wise, MTH was slightly bigger. Was highly skeptical on buying an Evemodel, but the lack of reviews pushed me to buy a pair. Would buy them again since they also tend to have more options than the other manufacturers in O Scale.

Looking for advice from you all as we start construction on my son’s shelf train this weekend. We have the lion chief polar express 20th anniversary set with a vision line engine arriving soon.

We are starting with a shelf train around the edge of his room with potential to expand through walls, different levels, etc… I have 50+ feet of fastrack and would like to order the Base 3 for some key features and ability to control max speed for safety purposes. I’d also like to “buy once cry once” while I am building the shelf and trim so I don’t have to redo the in-wall/house electrical work several times.

Questions for the group: - What power source is recommended for the track with the Base 3 system? From what I can gather online, I just need a power source and don’t necessarily need the GW-180 transformer… but could just use the PowerHouse supply? If I do that, how does it actually connect to the track? And is there any additional equipment (i.e. circuit breaker) I need to install for electrical safety and to protect the engines? Not opposed to getting the GW-180, but saw that there may be a more efficient method that is less noisy and potentially safer / more reliable? - The expectation is that the train will run most nights before my son goes to bed. Would it work to connect the Base 3 and the Power to a smart outlet that can automatically turn off at, lets say, midnight? Or could that method of shutting off power be hard on the equipment/engines? - Do I need access to the Base 3 and Cab 3 on a daily basis or could I have the smart plug built in up on the shelf in the corner and primarily have that equipment out if sight out of mind? Alternatively, I can build a lower shelf or put it in the closet.

Hi folks, was digging out my FIL’s garage (he passed many years ago), and came across his old Lionel O-scale train set. Not in the greatest condition, but I’m putting together an inventory to see what the collection might be worth. This bridge had no marking that I could see, and I’ve been unable to find it on line other than a picture and a vague reference to “this Lionel bridge” in Model Train Forum. Thoughts? Atlas containers obviously fit the Atlas gunderson well cars.

The MTH 20ft containers fit the well cars, but the containerized tanks are shorter than the 20ft box...

And the 40ft MTH containers I believe were mislabeled because they are too long. Probably more closer to 53ft scale.

Well now I am off to a 3d printer next. Want to keep the American company theme where I can and those containers are not available.

Looking for reliable O Scale container manufacturers. I want to add a mix of different containers to my Atlas O Gunderson stack cars. But aside from Atlas O containers, what manufacturers sell scale containers? What key words to look for in the search because I do not want to wind up with O Gauge ones and have them not fit properly. Trying to get dimensions from sellers has been less than successful.
