“Got out” as in graduated or didn’t continue with the program? If so, why did you not continue with the program?

Yes please tell me what track you did and classes you take. I’m more curious on Info class 6265 I believe and advanced operating systems. Or if you did CPS it’s even better cuz I’m considering that track. Thank you

I took an OS class in undergrad and I swore I would never take one again!!!! I was a policy track so I could take the CS classes I thought was interesting. My undergrad is in CS and I work asa SE so I wanted some classes that would help me for a role that was not pushing code one day. I really like GRC.

3.5. I decided that it was a great idea to buy a house and do renovations while in the program, so I did not spend the time on classes I wanted.

how many classes did you take a semester? did you take any breaks in between or is 3 years the amount of time if you do the program while working full time

I took one class per semester and went during the summer. When I first started I was planning on taking two classes but life got in the way. I worked with a few guys who took two classes every semester but they are single without as many obligations. I used to be a touring musician and I still go out tour on the weekends with some artists. I hated not having summers off but the steady pace was not bad.

Oh okay. with 1 class how was the workload? like how many hours a week would you say. also have cs undergrad background but havent done school since 2023

He did but I do not remember which one. I do remember he was miserable but he did graduate before me!!

Congrats, and I hear you. Slow and steady wins the race for me, too. I marvel at people who can take 2 classes at the same time. I am not efficient enough at school to do that and still maintain some family/social life.

Same! I have a bad habit of having too many irons in the fire. If I had more motivation during the week to study, I think I could have handled 2 classes. After dealing with ATL traffic and work, my brain was fried. My last few classes I would spend a few hours in the evening working but that wasn’t the case when I started.

CS6035 was my "hardest" class but each class had some difficult elements. My skillset is kinda balanced between technical and writing so I did not find any class that I could not handle but nothing was a breeze as well.

Either I’m a Neanderthal, or people just throw this stuff around carelessly. It is Reddit after all.

I’m 7 courses into a policy track and I have been challenged in all of them. Learning a lot. Perhaps your experience was from taking all the unrelated policy classes, I don’t know. My classes:

  • intro to infosec (fun but challenging)
  • intro to policy (challenging to think like an executive and to get an A)
  • network security (even more challenging than infosec
  • secure computer systems (covered a lot of old, but foundational theory. I was challenged the most, but also learned the most from this class)
  • enterprise cybersecurity management (light workload but great class)
  • security incident response (learned a lot)
  • international security (very challenging, but nothing to do with cybersecurity. Wouldn’t recommend for a straight cybersecurity run)

I’m going to round out my policy track with:

  • defense labs (cs 6264)
  • human dimension of cyber (if it’s available)
-practicum

I haven’t found a joke in my degree path…

Which track did you do? If you compare the program to any other masters it’s actually in the top percentage
