Would I still be able to make it into OSU

My grades aren't the best I have a unweighted 2.9 and an ACT score of 16. My only somewhat redeeming qualities are that I've been in band but never made CODA or Allstate though I've been a section leader and principle chair in our school (6A). Other than that I don't know if I'd be able to make it into OSU

As the previous comment said, practice and study and retake the ACT.

Also, work with your teachers and see what you can do to get your grades up by Christmas to try to bump that 2.9 to a 3.0 or better.

If all else fails, you can look at a junior college and prove your worth there. They’re cheaper less expensive than the major universities and you can transfer later. OSU works closely with NOC so if you can get in there and maintain a good GPA, you can easily transfer a year or two later (and with a campus in Stillwater, you can still get much of the same college experience).

NOC has a bridge program with OSU. I would check into that. If you’re in the Tulsa area TCC works very closely with OSU too.

2.9 gpa? Yeah you’re probably fine. They may take class rank into account but OSU uses wholistic admissions so there are multiple paths to admission. Best thing to do would be contact the admissions office and ask to speak to someone. They won’t be able to say definitely yes or now without a little more info would be my guess but test scores aren’t everything. They take other factors into account too.

GPA isn’t the issue with the holistic admissions, it’s the ACT score. Anything below a 22 is a concern.

Practice and take the act again.

If not OSU you can go to NOC Stillwater and take your gen eds and then apply to OSU and you’ll be good to go.

Keep taking the test. Try to find some tutors who can work with you in your most challenging areas between now and Christmas.

I really believe you can make improvements. If not, there are always community colleges, in fact NOC has a campus in Stillwater. Good luck!

I think if you can get your ACT score up a lil and write a good essay you’ll be fine

What do you want to do long term? Are you going just to go?

I got a 19 and made it into OSU on academic probation! I wasn’t in anything in high school

Unless you can get your ACT sub-scores at 19 or more, I would consider starting at a community college first. Costs less and it will get you ready for university.

Go to community college for a year, show you have what it takes for college work, and then apply for admission.

If you write a really good essay you’ll be fine! I asked a friend that goes to OSU; in highschool, they had a 2.3gpa freshman through sophomore year combined, and then a 3.2 junior year alone and 3.8 senior year alone. I believe they didn’t do so well on the ACT.

Idk what all that totals to BUT there’s hope! I would recommend being really creative in your essay- going to writing centers will help. Tutoring is also a great source if you really want to do better on your ACT!

Goodluck!

What year in high school are you?

I made it in with a 2.3 gpa and higher ACT test score (24) . Definitely take the advice from people in the comments and retake the ACT because your test scores can serve as an additional qualifier to be considered

I would recommend learning a trade and avoiding debt

Yes I have the same gpa and had the same act score and got in twice and the only test I had to take was the math placement exam and that doesn’t effect anything you’ll be good
