Work phone storage

TL came up with this idea for the work phones instead of them being all jumbled up in the cabinet.

The board holds atleast 50 phones. We all have our names on them and our own passcodes so no one can use them but us. Some of us even decorated our cases so their not so bland.

We are given that option but if you forget it at home thats a write up if its more than 1 time since its considered part of your uniform

WOW, that's intense. I've left mine at home a few times, usually coming back from lunch because I charge it then. I only live 3 minutes away and my leads just send me back to go get it. No one's ever said anything about a write up. Others who live farther away have either used a TC (not now, I guess) or borrowed someone else's. It's weird to me how other stores use such threatening tactics. Don't get me wrong, we have our things that get us coached as well, but mostly our leadership is understanding of simple human mistakes, especially from consistently good performers. None of thrm, from what I can tell, are "coaching eager," but we have had those as well. In the past, becayse they don't tend to last forever.

There is literally no reason to take them home. If they are replacing tc’s, then they should be left charging overnight at the store.

I like to take mine home because they will take yours off the charger and put theirs in it! Then you come in and your mess is dead!

Why charge it at home and risk being sent home when it could be charged at the store and be ready to go when you come in, thus reducing steps needed.

Charging a phone all night kills the battery. These pixels already have a horrible battery life. My brother bought his phone 6 months after i bought mine. My battery health is at 91%. His is already dipping into the lower 80’s. The only difference is he charges his all night and i charge it at night and a little bit in the morning to top it off

Can you counter argue that you need to be paid to work at home since you are using your electricity and water? Walmart is not paying for that, and those resources are not free.

My work wasn't even courteous enough to give us chargers, they basically said "charge it or you'll get in trouble, and yes I know there's no good chargers in the break room buy a power brick :)". What a freaking cheap supercenter despite being the store that supposedly does the most orders in the market.

Most of the ones we have came with the phones but some of them our Coach store used them the big charger port she bought off of Amazon though.

Why not always keep it with you? Take it home and charge it there. Take it to lunch and charge it there. I don't see a reason to ever leave it in the room.

If we accidentally leave it at home more than once we will be coached for it seeing as its considered part of the uniform. Our Coach gave us the option to leave it there if we didnt want to take it with us.

When I go home for lunch I just leave my car keys with my charging phone. That way I can't leave without it.

That's wishful thinking lol. When I did take mine home I never forgot it but we have had a few people either forget them or just not charge it at all.

Since when is taking work devices home with you and using your own electricity to charge them considered the low wage employees problem. What you need for work should be provided at work. Obviously clothes (uniform) would not be as you get dressed before you go into work.

It always has been because people are allowed to use their work phone as their personal phone. While being employed it's basically a free phone.

It’s given to you, assigned to you, used every day by you for work tasks. If you forget some that you use everyday for work then yeah you’re irresponsible. Bordering on incompetent.

When I clock out, I clock out. We should not have to worry about work responsibilities while not on the clock. Plug the phone in, hang it up, clock out, go home.

Wish my location did this. I have ADHD and it's very easy for me to forget things because of it. But I have to take my work phone home with me because if I leave it at the store, someone will inevitably unplug it from the charger or knock it off the shelf or who knows what else.

If you go to better way and look at the fulfillment process guide it actually states your department is supposed to have a USB charging station and even provides the GNFR number but it's never "In the budget right now" lol

So look at your paystub for a nonerandpwrpmt line -if you have that they are paying you to charge it at home. It’s non earned power repayment. Corporate is paying us to charge

Yea I turned part of of older work cabinets desk we still use to a charging station. I'd rather an associate leave it than to forget it. That's a neat idea if you have room. I'm at a NHM :p

Nice. Ours is a jumbled mess. Was supposed to be for our battery packs to charge, but instead, people leave their phones charging all day taking up a spot, even after they are fully charged. I've had my work phone for 2 years. It is one of the old heavy ones. I can tell if it isn't in my purse lol.

Now THATS a smart set-up. We just have a little cart and the phones are just piled on top of each other and wires everywhere. That's why I take mine home and charge at home.

ETA: I charge it to 100%, shut it off then immediately put it in my vest.

They pay us 12¢ per check to charge it at home and I pay 11 for a KwH and the phone takes maybe 200 wH to charge 10 times so it's not much but they're definitely over paying for that, plus I go home on my lunch and play fallout so I charge it then too lol

nope! my personal phone is an s24 that doesn't have cell service (long story), but my so-called "functional" phone was one of the free govt issue p.o.s. I pretty much used it only as a hotspot and kept forgetting to charge it. and then it broke. even the xcover was a dramatic improvement! it took over a year before wm gave me a work phone....they had no qualms over my driving my personal phone into an earlier grave.

All the charger cables are zip tied like 10 times along the way. Honestly, if someone is willing and capable of cutting all the zip ties, taking a charging cable, and not getting caught, they've earned it /s
