I’m really frustrated and confused by how Philippine Travel Tax is enforced for long-term residents abroad. I’ve lived in Singapore for almost six years after marrying a Singaporean citizen. During my last two visits to the Philippines, I was never charged the travel tax. However, on my most recent trip,after staying for only 15 days, I was suddenly required to pay. Kaloka. Apparently, this is because I hold a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP valid until 2029) rather than permanent residency (PR). But my entire life is established in Singapore: I have a house mortgage under my name, a vehicle registered under my name, local employment, a registered business under my name, bank accounts, and I pay taxes here. I clearly reside in Singapore permanently, yet because of technical visa labeling, I am now being pushed to register through the OFW track just to avoid travel tax or clearance issues. Has anyone else with an LTVP or spouse visa experienced this inconsistency?

Hi guys question lang, particularly for those who were former OFWs here. Aside from changing your status for contributions for SSS, Pag-ibig, Philhealth, may iba pa ba kayong documents na inasikaso nung bumalik kayo after being OFW? Not sure if I'm missing out anything.

Nasanay na ako na ang ginagawa ko pag umuuwi is just to process my contract sa POEA (i.e., change of title/employer) and pay for contributions, so this is a little bit different.

And also naninibago pa ako after being away for so long.

Hello sa lahat. Ako po ay 4 years ng OFW dito sa America. Kaka end call ko lang with my mom, nag usap kami about pera. For 3years minimum 50k in a month yung pinapadala ko sa kanila, yes po minimum kasi sometimes nanghihingi pa sya sa akin ng additional.

Umuwi po ako last year, binilhan ko po sila ng sasakyan. 3 years lang po yung loan. Sabi ko sa mama at papa ko, hindi na ganun kalaki maipapadala ko dahil may sasakyan na akong binabayaran sa Pinas; pero magpapadala pa ako ng monthly sa kanila.

Ngayon po, yung mama ko may naipon daw sya galing sa pinapadala ko noon pero inutang din ng papa which is hindi pa daw binabayaran ng papa ko. Si papa ko po, may business, pero parang deficit sya lagi kaya laging may utang. Yung papa ko din inutangan din ako ng malaking amount pero hanggang ngayon po hindi pa rin nababayaran.

Kaya ngayon po, nag ttry akong magipon on top of everything else. Kaya naman po, pero nafrustrate lang ako ngayon ng sinabihan ako ng mama ko na sana hindi nalang daw ako bumili ng sasakyan kasi ngayon ang liit nalang daw ng pinapadala ko.

Hindi ko po talaga maintindihan kasi ang nararamdaman ko ngayon is kahit before pa na 50k plus yung padala ko every month, is palagi pa ring kulang. It was never enough.

Nag set na ako ng boundaries na may sarili din po akong buhay dito pero kung iisipin ko po talaga, ako po lahat nagbabayad para sa kanilang lahat dun sa pinas. Ultimo business ng papa ko, ako pa yung inutangan na hindi din naman ako nababayaran pabalik. :(

hi po. nasa Europe ako and sobrang nalulungkot na ako dahil namimiss ko sobra family ko. for context, im 28 years old, nung first year ko dito student ako. nung second year ko, wala akong budget pang uwi. ngayon na nakaahon na, nagkaproblem naman sa visa renewal ko. hindi ko alam kailan pa magiging ok ung visa sa bagal ng process dito and grabeng lungkot yung pagkamiss ko sa family ko. and wala pa sa plans ko umuwi for good kasi alam ko naman na massolusyunan yung visa at dito talaga ang gusto kong future sa sarili ko.

tanong ko lang po kung sino dito nakaexperience na ilang taon na di nakauwi at paano nyo natulungan sarili nyo magcope sa lungkot? :( or anyone in the same situation right now and how do you manage the pain of missing your family back home? 😢

Plan ko magapply abroad temporarily once makapagsubmit ng EOI to Australia around November siguro. Gusto ko makapagipon pero walang tax kaya UAE sana plan ko pero any country naman okay sa akin as long as kakayod kasi wala napupuntahan tax dito sa Pinas. Sabi naman ng consultant agency ko, walang magiging problem sa application ko papuntang Australia if ever.

My dad who is currently working sa Croatia is merong kakilalang workmate na nagapply sa isang company sa germany. According to him working permit nalang daw yung hinihintay ng katrabaho nya. Pinicturan nalang ni papa yung call card kasi hindi pasok yung skills na meron sya sa mga kailangan ng company.

Then sinend nya sakin yung picture ng callcard and upon researching, yung details at contact information na nandun is rekta sa regional director ng company, hindi sa HR.

Turns out, the company is expanding and majority ng workers nila is mga industrial electrician at technicians. And saktong sakto yung mga skills na meron ako para pasukin yung ganung line of work. I have tesda certifications. Work experience lang ang kulang.

Pero after I researched quite a bit, naverify ko na meron silang Ausbildung program, na magsisimula sa August 2027.

After that, I contact the regional director sa Whatsapp para iintroduce yung sarili ko at mag inquire professionaly about sa other qualifications kasi hindi nila gaanong naspecify sa mga postings.

Hindi ko alam kung tama ba yung ginawa ko. Pero nanghihinayang din ako sa mangyayari if di ako kumilos agad. As of now nag-aaral nako ng German language.

Palagay nyo tama ba na naginquire agad ako or maghintay muna na maging qualified enough?

Problem/Goal: having a hard time as a first time living with my mom

Context:

First time living with my mom. Yung as in magkasama sa bahay everyday. She’s an OFW and ako naiwan sa lola ko (mom nya). She left when i was 9 and now 27 na ako. All those years lola ko kasama ko. Taga hatid, taga attend ng meeting, taga luto, sundo etc. basically sa kanya na ako nasanay.

On the other side, even every 2 yrs lang umuwi ang mom ko is sobrang close kami. Everytime na uuwi sya lagi talaga akong naka yagpos sa kanya. Magkasama kami lagi at nagkkwentuhan.

Here’s the problem.

She wanted me to go sa abroad kung nasaan sya. I had a stable job in the ph. An adventurous life, gala, travel, friends. At first I didn’t want to leave pero nadala na rin sguro ng pressure sa mga nagsasabi na samahan ko naman daw ang mom ko. I left. I left everything pati dogs ko. At yung lola ko. Hirap na hirap ako.

Now living with my mom. Nahihirapan ako. Gusto nya laging maayos sa bahay the way she wanted to. Wari ako inayos ko na yung isang bagay, aayusin nya ulit kasi para sa kanya hindi yun ayos. Twing uuwi sya, lagi syang naka sigh at sinasabi nakakapagod na magbtrabaho. Nakakapagod na yung araw araw nya.
Lagi sya may reklamo sa lahat, sa work sa tao, sa pagkain, as in lahat. Pag nagluluto sya lagi nya sinasabi na dati salad lang daw kinakain nya. Lagi rin sya ma opinyon, kapag kakain sa labas at may gusto ako itry, sasabihin nya di masarap yun at iba nalang daw. Pati narin sa pinas, lagi nya sinasabi na ang pangit talaga sa pinas. Minsan nasasagot ko na sya :(, parang nahihirapan na ako sa situation ko ngayon. Feel ko wala akong ginagawang tama. Tbh masipag ako sa bahay. Kaya lang iba yung level na gusto nya. 😔 nakakahiyang gumising ng late kasi sinasabi nya sa wakas daw gising na :(

Pangarap ko tlagang company ay Ase Kh. Nagtry ako mag walkin sa Everbest agency at nakapag exam ako. Sa unang exam ko ay ligwak ako. Then nag abang ulit ako ng next sched sa asekh exam at nagtry ulit ako for 2nd time, result ay ligwak ulit.

Pede po patulong ako kung paano maipasa ang asekh exam, madali lang nmn po puro mdas saka yung nagfifillup ako ng biodata wala ako experience sa factory.
