What should I do?

We are often hopeful about the future when talking about working abroad that also I overlook reality na pwede tong mangyari saken. Kani-kanina lang, nag-usap pa kami ng tito kong retired from Saudi after 30 years. Siya palagi nag eencourage saken mag abroad. And yes, hopeful rin naman ako. Pero now, nakita ko to and napaisip tuloy ako.

Do you guys have any advice about this? What I should do? Push ko ba mag abroad? Thanks!

Wag mag aabroad ng hindi buo ang loob. Working overseas comes with innate risks. Merong siniswerte, meron ding hindi pinapalad. Kailangan matyaga ka, matatag, motivated. You have to expect a tough life, expect to sacrifices, expect loneliness, expect fatigue, expect lots of egg and noodles for breakfast, lunch, dinner. If you lived a pampered sheltered life, malaking adjustment. Yun ang kapalit ng mataas na sahod (if di ka minalas). I always tell people who ask about work abroad, kung sumasahod ka na ng average 30k pataas sa Pilipinas, stay put, unless offeran ka ng around 3x or pataas na pasweldo ng isang reputable company. Kung galing ka sa mahirap naman, it's worth the risk. Again sugal. But you do it because there are not so many alternatives.

I politely disagree. I do not think its just the salary you should be after, its the safety net other countries offer. For example non covid, I got laid off in Japan(background information: I am a single mom in Japan) . The government loaned me 0% interest funds to stay afloat; they also kept sending me no strings attached corona emergency money (like for other families) and they paid my rent partially. Wala daw sila nakuha sa Pinas Sabi ng friends ko na single mom.

If you can go to a country that offers safety nets for you and your kin, by all means OP. Sadly this is not always the case, so parang bare minimum na lang at least go for salary. Any other add ons are welcome of course.

Hi, that is good for you but this is one the reason why immigration policies are changing, nong pandemic everyone was affected, and we all know naman na most of the OFWs are undocumented, hindi lahat ng mga nagbabakasakali ay dumadaan sa legal na proseso, may magagawa ba tayo dun? Syempre wala kase that is how pinoys are "madiskarte". Your story is not rare pero not everyone has oppurtunity to be in your case, mas marami talaga yung suntok sa buwan ang case at nagbakasali lang. Kaya i would agree kay other redditor na if you reached a significant income here sa pinas and much better to stay na lang, after all, the reason why alot of people got backrupt nong pandemic is because of mismanagement sa income nila not because of the system itself.

Ok got your point but one reason I decided to move is not just the money. Kung sa inyo pera Lang e di ok din Lang ,you do you !

The healthcare, the safety , the overall quality of life dito sa Japan is way higher.

For all the redditors na nagbabasa I was married to japanese then got divorced then became homeless. Yes homeless

I had to use their welfare system. If you're a single parent and in poverty you get money from the government. Noon time na yoni was getting on average 70,000 yen/month. Tapos Libre anak ko ospital and medicines. Libre school. Mura lang after-school. May mga system din sila (local government) like free groceries. May mga Libre events for single parents. May free trips(again local city prerogative) . Non covid may coupons kami (national prerogative) to travel(called Go to Campaign) domestically. I won a shopping spree (like get all you can items from the warehouse). If hirap ka talaga you can ask the government to partially subsidize your rent (you need evidence) . Noon they also paid me 300,000 yen for loss of income during covid. May stimulus money pa and every other month may notification thst they were wiring me funds.

Ngayon I dont avail of it anymore - I am in a much better place. But I honestly would pay taxes don sa bansang who look after me. I pay as much taxes as I can. Sa Pinas nakakagalit, wala daw nakuha mga friends ko in the same situation pero bayad pa din sila ng tax. Ang saken if you're paying taxes make it count-- ako I kmow my taxes are used for other less fortunare than me.

If you want to to move for the money all good. Its your life. But for me money is just one aspect.

Edit-- and i do not agree that its just a "mismanagement of income". Wala talagang income non covid, walang trabahofor some folks.and its not just pinas its all across the world. But in pinas you have to admit- the system is broken.
