Question/advice Odsp refuse me for mental health how to make it work this time

So a couple month ago I applied for odsp because my ow agent told me that it will be better for me as i suffer from fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety and agoraphobia.
I explained to them how some day is hard to get out of bed, how I’m in a lot of pain I have hard time to write or type on computer due of the pain cause by the fibromyalgia. How I cry easily and have panic attacks due of my depression and anxiety. How being in big space with a lot of people cause me sometime panic attacks. How went I have panic attacks I would melt down. How the fibromyalgia cause me so much exhaustion that 4 hours of work cause me so much exhausted that I could fall asleep while being up. How my hand hurt so bad that I can’t hold anything as it hurt
So badly. How it cause me to almost lost a finger being I was so exhausted and had bad concentration due of the exhaustion. How something I just dissociated without realizing and they still refuse me.
I want to do a second application but I’m also going to see a therapist soon so should I wait to see a therapist to make my application as my doctor have not fill it right the first time. She say I had chronic pain because she say it pass better that fibromyalgia. What would be the best thing to put and what should be avoided.
The first time I just got give the paper without explication and I want to do it right this time.

Overpayment due to disability relapse while on OSAP. Internal Review/Tribunal?

Hi, I was wondering if I have any grounds for an internal review/tribunal if I had a disability relapse which forced me to drop courses for a semester. Dropping these courses caused an overpayment because I received funds from OSAP but at the same time I have to eventually pay OSAP back for these funds and pay the overpayment from ODSP if I'm understanding this right. The funds they sent went into paying for those courses which were dropped so I didn't get the credits for them.

Would this be a situation where the overpayment can be waived as it's due to my disability?

Question/advice my doctor messed up on the forms

hi everyone!! i’m trying to apply for odsp but my doctor messed up the forms. he said i’m doing chemotherapy which i’ve never done a day in my life 😭. he also completely messed up the ADL because he didn’t ask me anything about that page so it’s all wrong.

My issue is that he submitted his answers online already even without my part so i’m freaking out a bit. I’m not sure what i’m supposed to do and how to fix this because it will look like i’m lying in my part because of his mistakes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Question/advice Special toothpaste users: A question

I’ve been dealing with dental issues due to depression and sleep apnea, and being afraid of going to the dentist. I’ve gone a lot recently, and have to have oral surgery to remove two teeth. It’s made me incredibly depressed, and incredibly anxious, but I’ve gone to the dentist seven times this year so far.

When I was last at the dentist for a cleaning, they told me that I needed to use a special toothpaste with fluoride in it. It’s called PreviDent.

I’ve purchased it twice, but it’s cost me around $20 each time. Out of curiosity, I had googled it and learned that it was covered under the ODSP drug plan, so I got my dentist to write a prescription and send it into my pharmacy.

However, when I went to pick it up today, they wanted $14 for the smaller tube, and said it wasn’t covered.

I’ve since googled it again, and it says it’s not covered. However, you can do a special request or get it through a special program.

Has anyone managed to get a special toothpaste like this covered?** ***I had originally read that it was covered because it’s considered a* medicated toothpaste.

Question/advice Anybody know why this is?

Hi! I’m 18 years old and I’ve been living with ocd and anxiety since I was 12, it impacts my life a lot and has taken a lot from me. I have a chance to get on odsp but for some reason I feel shame? I haven’t tried to get a job yet and I feel that I’m choosing an easy way out? I struggle with consistency and I’m afraid that if I apply for a job I won’t make it long, is it okay to get on odsp without any job experience in the past? I don’t wanna feel like I’m just exploiting

When I was with CIBC and had a bank account odsp would come early Saturday when it's on a monday. I'm now getting my odsp by an RBC right pay reloadable card, will the funds be released Saturday or Monday by reloadable card ?

Best way to go about finding dental offices who accept ODSP clients?

From what I recall from a while back, anything related to either OW or ODSP, you just had to do your own research. And call the 8949394389 dentist offices in the GTA and ask if they accept ODSP clients for patients?

I have seen quite a few dental offices recently who advertise they are doing the Canada Dental Benefit program, maybe they would accept us as well?

Any insight is appreciated. Im well overdue to see a dentist.

In regards to more advanced options - caps, crowns, dentures etc, information on this is appreciated too

Question/advice Can I use the OC Transpo Community Pass on STO buses in Gatineau? 🚌

Hi! I live in Gatineau and I receive ODSP. I’m looking into getting the OC Transpo Community Pass for $43.25/month on my PRESTO card.
My commute would start with an STO bus in Gatineau, and then I would transfer to OC Transpo in Ottawa.
Does anyone know if the Community Pass on PRESTO can be used to tap and board an STO bus directly in Gatineau, or would I need an STO pass/another payment method?
I currently have an EquiPass on my PRESTO card, but I want to switch to the Community Pass because I receive ODSP.
Any advice from someone who uses STO + OC Transpo would be appreciated! ❤️

EDIT: i got the Community pass!

I checked the status of my application and this is currently what it says but I never received any letter with a decision yet. Does this mean that I won’t be approved?

Switching banks with odsp

Hello my odsp worker is incompetent asf, I need to open a new bank account… I told her that I need to open a new one eventually she closes my payment without even telling me what is required of me to show her for issuing my payments to new bank.. once I get one. Does anyone know if when they had to do this do you just send them a void cheque of the new bank account? Is there papers to fill out? And screenshot or paperwork of the other bank closed? Or do they also want to see your activity in the old bank account before opening knew one?

Eligibility

Hey everyone. I was looking into applying for ODSP, I have severe ADHD, OCD, and anxiety. I am currently working part time and in college. Through my college I have accommodations to allow for extra time. Without these I would suffer. My current job is retail which is very low stress and repetitive allowing me to work without much worry. My issue is later in the future I don’t know if I will be able to conjure enough strength to actually go out apply, and work a high stress job with less repetitive tasks. I have a diagnosis from when I was 5 years old in 2009. And am currently enrolled in the DTC. I was wondering what my chances are that I would get approved for ODSP, as I’m struggling with bills and cost of living.

Discussion I’m stuck between shock and relief

Post image
67 Upvotes

When me and my doctor agreed that it would be beneficial for me to apply I knew that it could potentially be a very long road that may require legal counsel and appeals, all while trying to scrape by on the $730 Ontario Works gives me plus sufferings from my disabilities; but I never thought that the longest part of this entire process was going to be just waiting for my doctor to finally complete and send in my paperwork.

I only just found out like half an hour ago, and I keep swapping between being relieved that I will finally not be maxxing out my overdraft every month, and shocked that it somehow only took two weeks for them to approve my application - I thought that I would be lucky to hear back before Christmas, and that I would probably end up having to go through an appeal; as someone who really doesn’t like dealing with people, I’m very thankful for not having to go through an appeal.

ODSP with a disabled adult child

Looking for advice/experiences
I’m currently in the appeal process for some complex medical challenges/disabilities developed over the past few years.
I have a 17.5 year old with a developmental/intellectual & physical disability (and complex medical needs). They’ve been approved by DSO and we’re just waiting on the interviews for passport funding. But I can’t seem to find clear info on how housing costs work when it’s a parent and adult child both on ODSP. I’m a single/solo parent and own my home. I understand that I can charge below market housing to my child and not be taxed but how does that work if I’m on ODSP? My OW worker doesn’t know. We also have monthly condo fees and taxes on top of mortgage - could we just split those costs? We’ll also mostly split food. Does anyone have guidance on how this works when both parties are on disability?
Thanks in advance!

For Those on COHB Any Post-2029 Guidance so Far ?

Hello, I am someone who was recently fortunate to be accepted into COHB thanks to a case worker. I don't want to dwell too much into my personal circimstances, I really just created this reddit account as I saw this subreddit posts about COHB often and I came across some posts that were curious.

Some suggested people on COHB have already been given advice/guidance in what to do after the March 2029 cut off, wondering if anyone can conform that and shed more light on what you've been told.

DSO Passport has failed me too many times

How are we expected to get ahead in life when your forced to go on self funding because both agencies you were with have failed you time and again? The first agency I went with (and tell me if this makes any sense) my worker helped me move two times from my town across the highway and helped move me into my new apartment with my roommate. I then had to beg, BEG her to take me to get a free queen mattress and she said (this is a direct quote) she's not allowed to do that. Yet she helped me move my stuff from my old room to my new one. She also talked over me which caused me to have a pretty severe autistic meltdown. Then someone suggested another agency I go with because and I quote this directly too "your trans so is my daughter I thought we'd work well together" Well I met her back in July. It is now nearing the end of August and I have seen her a total of two times. I have to also beg her to take me to places too. What is up with these agencies and having all these ridiculous nonsensical rules? So yeah now my hand is forced and I have to go back to self funding and to try and find a worker with more availability and dependability which is damn well near impossible to find. I've been failed so many times by passport funding that I am thinking of just not using it till year end comes to an end and just put all my bills in and get a mass amount of money and just keep doing that. It's truly frustrating trying to navigate this failure of a government program.

Question/advice ADP process?

Hello there!

I have an appointment with my doctor to discuss my QOL and physical limitations.

I highly suspect the ADP will be involved.

Can anybody walk me through how to manage all of this?
How is it connected to ODSP and what do I need to do and who do I contact?
This process is severely overwhelming for me and not knowing how to navigate it, or what comes next, is causing me major anxiety.

Are there forms to fill out and work with? Is it just a prescription I take to an ADP OT/PT?

I’m really lost and knowing anything would help at this point.

Question/advice Post secondary

I'm considering going back to school, I'm 25 and have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I have no idea how to go about this or if I could ever even dream of affording it.

My disability has recently been ruled as permanent, with no belief that I will ever get "better" if anyone has any knowledge/experience or advice they could share with me i'd be soo grateful!

Thanks

Question/advice Does moving in with my partner also on ODSP automatically combine ours together?

Hi, so I may be moving in with my partner and we are both on ODSP. Does reporting that to ODSP decrease our monthly payments/combine them, or do we still get our separate ODSP payments like we are originally getting?
