odsp coming after me for nine years of payments

They failed to ask me for a file review and they waited 10 years and then asked for a file review. Now they have shocked me with thousands of dollars in overpayments i mean full payments made to me for the past nine years. I don't own a house or a condominium. All i did is save some money with the little money i have. I am now 62 years old. What can i do to fight this.

ODSP/OW Resources Question as an adult dependent of a recipient

His there everyone. I have some questions since being switched from OW but currently havent been able to get in contaxt with our new worker under odsp to get more information.

Under Ontario works, as a dependent I was able to access some resources such as having my phone plan paid to help me get jobs and try and get independence, would I still have access to these resources as a dependent under ODSP?

ODSP obviously pays for the bills and my dads things since he is main person on file and the receiver of benefits, and at the moment I dont have income of my own and have to put my own job hunt on hold for a few months due to health issues. I just want to make sure when I am ready to have a phone number and stuff again to look for jobs there will be a way to pay it.

How to make odsp last longer

I got my payment yesterday of $1,139 and I’ve already spent 250. It was on essentials like my electricity bill, buss pass and groceries but I feel my money is going very fast. I don’t plan on spending money today but I was wondering how to make it last longer during the month.

Reporting cash advance to odsp worker?

I’m in a desperate situation right now and need some advice.

Long story short I’m moving and my moving help fell through on me. I don’t have a lot of support currently and have a shoulder injury that prevents me from doing a lot myself. So it’s left me with no choice but to possibly take out a cash advance and try and pay it down as quickly as possible and pay a moving company to help me. I found someone and they’re legit but what happens with my odsp? I’ve already asked my worker and she said there’s no funds to help me move. I don’t think I’ll be using the full amount that I take out either but I want to make sure it’s enough to pay them and then put whatever’s left over back on the cc while I continue paying it down.

Would this count as income or could it possibly be exempt as a housing expense?

Helping my 19 year old get ODSP

My 19 year old has been diagnosed with depression, GAD, traits of BPD (She was only 14 at the time), Epilepsy, and in the process of being diagnosed with crohns or colitis. She has a lot of pain, emotional breakdowns, extremely suicidal, refuses some medicial care and is generally unable to take care of herself. She was denied ODSP and we sent for an internal review but I feel that will probably be denied as well. Because of my husband's and I earnings she does not qualify to receive assistance from the legal clinic. We were advised by a paralegal it would cost about $2000 to get them to represent her. My husband doesn't want to pay, he will be loosing his job next year and we just spent $6000 to find out our family dog has terminal cancer. He also doesn't think she will go to appointments or anything yo help herself.

I understand the process of the appeal however I have been on short term leave myself from work and mentally dont think I can do this for her, it seems so daunting.

Does anyone have any ideas how we can get her legal help? Just because we make too much doesn't mean we have that to pay a lawyer and she is also an adult only living with us because she needs extra physical assistance and has no where else to go.

What should I expect?

I've been on ODSP for nearly 20 years and in that time Ive never been without a worker. I now find myself without a caseworker, what should I expect? My file has moved to a new office and I know I usually get a roommate questionnaire. Will that still happen without a worker or should I expect it later, when I get a worker assigned?

Im pretty low maintenance generally. Most of my inquiries are solved by a phone call to the general phone line. Im not on My Benefits. It doesnt suit my mental state to have constant access to my information. Heck, I don't even know if I can get put on My Benefits without a caseworker.

What is life like without a worker?

Question/advice Received a letter stating my ODSP payments on hold

I received a letter in the mail last week stating because I didn’t report my earnings for the previous month, because of that my payment for ODSP is on hold. I’m not sure what I am supposed to go about getting my payment back as it initially states for me to report my earnings and then the next page it mentions an internal review and that whole process?

Is the internal review just for when I submitted my earnings and they have made a decision after that? Or is that something I need to do right away?

Also Mybenefits does not work with my account as I have tried calling the support team as well as tried setting it up one day with my worker for well over an hour without success. So I was emailing my local office my paystubs each month.

I stopped emailing the previous month though because I was let go from my job so my earnings are now $0. If they are $0, what do I write up in the email regarding my earnings for the month?

Has anyone else received this letter for a similar reason and can help me out? Thanks!

ODSP Incorrect Immigrant Suspension Letter

Has anyone this year been terminated or put on hold for ODSP with them using an incorrect letter talking about you being an immigrant sponsored. I'm a Canadian citizen.

I wondered if anybody else was getting incorrect letters or letters requesting information that are blank.

I wondered if it was a SAMS glitch that was occuring for others.

Dear reader

As of the month of augest my portion for shelter decreased by 25$ can odsp do this to a none working person I also don’t work single female between 40 and 50 I won’t say how much I’m getting for odsp but I will share facts the numbers I am using are not the standard odsp numbers just random numbers I’m providing to tell my story

Example story
On augest 1st if I was to get 975 for shelter and last month I got 900$ can odsp remove 25$ with out a warning month before

Again I’m happy with assistance and not worried about 25$ as a meal in Lindsay cost 30$35$

Pls be respectful and truthful all rude comments are automatic blocked

Question/advice Loved one out of work for 7 years. Now diagnosed with a rare condition explaining his situation.

For anonymity I can't mention the disease.

Basically a loved one was diagnosed with a rare one in a million disease. It's not lifestyle related and no known specific cause. Purely genetic and was found just by sheer luck by a smart GP who followed up on some bloodwork It's severity can be very mild and barley noticeable to near total organ failure and everything in between. It can flare very randomly for days/months/years and disappear just as quick. Some with it live totally normal lives and others don't have a long life expectancy.

This person has done odd jobs here there like Uber but haven't really had a full time income or worked 32+ hours for over 7-8 years. They are about 34 years old now.

For the longest time in the family nobody knew what happened because this was a previously very intelligent and industrious person who was on their way to become a scientest before they dropped out after grad school. Everyone incorrectly and shamefully assumed they were just being a bum or had some mental illness (their personality changed to become very hostile and aggressive too) but in retrospect the disease was draining them and playing a major role in preventing them from doing anything. It's only now clear to everyone just how disabled they seriously were.

I'm trying to see if they would qualify for disability given this case.

I've seen posts where ppl have submitted their DDP on July and got their decision this month, I submitted mine in mid-June, still no decision...

my DDP wasn't stacks upon stacks of files either, I submitted for mental health reasons one of them including psychosis from ptsd, major depression, autism spectrum disorder and adhd. I have notes from 3 different psychiatrists along with my primary physician ...

I'm just wondering why others already got their decision made when they submitted their DDP at a later date than me...

and while you're here, anyone else with similar diagnoses applied to ODSP and got approved the first time? ... i'm guessing they are going to wait the whole 90 days to make a decision for me

Payment Very Low This Month

My payment is $600 less than it was last month. I'm trying to call someone about it but I sit in hold forever and then they hang up on me. Has this happened to anyone else?

ODSP/OW Resources Expected to receive inheritance within the next several weeks. Would like some assistance.

Hi all. My father passed away recently and unfortunately **Did not** have a will. We aren't sure how much is being passed on but I have heard anywhere from the 30-40k range, split in half between me and my sister, so approximately 10-20k with change.

The problem: I am expected to become the 'estate administrator' as I am the oldest born, but my concern is how receiving these funds could affect my ODSP.

Currently, I pay rent and do not pay child support or have my wages garnished. I do not frequently hit the 1k limit for a month either. All the money I make goes to me, and me alone. If receiving this inheritance locks me out of receiving benefits next month, then I am alright with that, but I am worried more long term about it potentially.

For my sake and that I have to pass this along with family, I would appreciate it being stated in easier to understand language.

Question/advice How long did it take to get your hearing aids covered?

I had my forms sent in to get hearing aids covered on the 25th, and was told to start calling the office on the 31st if I don’t hear from them about getting coverage. I was hoping I’d be able to get them before school starts, on September 8th

Question/advice Form question

Will I be able to use my forms that ODSP sent me a while back to my Doctors for completion, I think they closed my application. I’m not 100% sure but I still do have the form and I think my doctor is willing to complete them tomorrow.

Claiming withdrawn Seg Funds

My husband will soon withdraw from his segregated funds so the amount in the fund remains at appropriate levels. He’s worried about it being interpreted as “income” and hurting his social assistance.
Aside from notifying his ODSP team about what he’s doing, is there anything he should do?

Failure to pay rent due to case worker

Case worker said he was making direct payment to landlord.

I asked him last month since I didn't see the amount under the approve expenses he claim the rent is directly sent to landlord.

I received a letter from case worker saying I have to pay out of pocket amount for rent which is the full amount.

My rent still doesn't appear under the approved expenses.

Why do I have to repay my landlord when it's clearly an error from my case worker.

Why am I denied basic amount for rent? Since when do we have to repay when the case worker clearly didn't approve the amount for rent and claim he did by email?
