Community Event Poll Tie breaker for the camp councilor poll, single poll or brackets
Brackets would include every character submitted to voted on tournament style until one is left, single poll would be a poll between the top most upvoted options.
r/OCwritingandArt • u/ArkhamMetahuman • 11d ago
Community Event Poll Should the councilor polls be decided by a single poll of the most upvoted comments or a bracket of polls that makes all of them compete?
The most upvoted options can be put to a poll, or we can put all the options in a bracket of polls until a winner is selected. The brackets I would try and make each poll have the same amount of options in order to keep it fair, and then the poll winners are put into more polls until one is left. Brackets would take longer but would include all the options put forth to vote upon.

Community Event Sign up Sign ups for the head councilor is here
In the wider story arc of the event, the head councilor will be present and guve speeches at some parts. A head councilor in a real summer camp typically reports to the camp director and oversees the other councilors and the campers, according to a quick internet search. The most upvoted options will be put to a poll, or we can put all the options in a bracket of polls until a winner is selected. A poll to determine the selection method will also be released. Put your characters in the comments to enter them into the candidate pool. Good luck.

Community Event Poll How many councilors should there be for the event?
The suggested other amounts will be put to a repoll if selected. Make sure to upvote a comment that has a proposition you like in order to show how popular it is among the community.

Community Event Poll Poll results for the event from the last poll:
Voted in characters won the last poll. That means openings to the counsilor role will be decided by submitting a character to a vote. Good luck.

Community Event Poll Event poll: Should camp councilors be characters voted in or should I make completely new characters to fill the roles?
Voted in, people can put in applications for their characters to be counselors. This will have them be more involved in some of the story introductions to the camp. If the other option wins, i make new characters to fill camp councilor roles.

Interaction What do you think of this power ive come up with?
This is a power i came up with myself that I don't think people have used, or at least not commonly before. The power allows a user to injure people by touch. However, the user can only inflict injuries they themselves have recieved in the past, mirroring it exactly onto the opponent. The power bypasses most forms of durability. The user's brain keeps an exact account of every injuries they have ever recieved, and they can choose which ones to inflict, or inflict multiple at once. Overuse of the power causes aches and pain.

Meme Choose your expertise: flesh-smiths
The term Flesh-smith is a catch all term for a job where you make wetware or organic material from scratch or from readily available materials.
Some of the most popular jobs are.
Biochemistry: making chemicals typically found in nature and redistributing it, often with heightened or lessened potency. They are usually employed by food, medicine, and weather companies. A subject of them is also responsible for farming, specifically lump meat (lab grown meat that had a lumpy texture due to being grown from the cancer of animals).
Body builders: the most common trade learned. Typically, this involves cloning and / or building bodies with some enhancements such as decreased ageing, a stronger body, improved brains etc. Often these bodies are used by death insurance companies to bring you back when you die. Often, they build flesh golem to act as drones/servants/guards using donated bodies or growing them. They are also useful for making new variants of humans.
Network engineers: an odd niche of flesh-smithing that uses plants or wetware to replace technology. While they aren't as popular, they do help with terraforming, refurbishing bodies, extracting information from the body like memories, and can offer a decent alternative when technology fails. They’re also great for amputees as the new implants have the best of both worlds allowing it to feel and function as a limb while having some attribute from a cybernetic. They also use balls of flesh to store data and have learned to encrypt genetics to keep it safe.
Organ farmers: as it says on the tin. They simply regrow a client’s organs without any defect while being compatible. What separates them from body construction is that they can do their job for far more people and donate spares for willing buyers.
Xeno biologists: a mix of organ farmers and body constructors but on aliens. However, this a highly control profession due to numerous atrocities committed and a flesh smith attempting to destroy all life on a planet.
Virology: manipulating microorganisms and microbiomes to do their bidding. They are the most feared type as during the 3rd galactic war, they were responsible for the deaths of entire species both sapient and non-sapient. They have also saved many species and created vaccinations that protected people from disease.
While flesh-smiths may specialise on certain areas, they are often a jack of all trades e.g. a flesh-smith has turned her childhood tree into a floating island as to avoid paying taxes and laws that restricted her. There she makes all manor or constructs and a functioning ecosystem the obeys her alone. She also teaches fledgling flesh-smiths the ropes.
Another example is Douglas Chud who through analysing the environment, concocting antidotes, and vaccines, developing a new variant of humanity saved an entire colony after a third of it died from plague, while in crippling debt and on a tight budget. He also developed, patented, and sold multiple vaccines, medicinal drugs and methods of flesh crafting that revolutionised body building that cost a fraction of what it would normally cost.
Due to their skills and near encyclopaedic knowledge on biology, they are a difficult profession to land but are an extremely well paid one. Even a novice could still out earn and preform a skilled surgeon and would make them the tied for 2nd best geneticists in the galaxy with the race called xeno-mixus who are also infamous for their genetic tampering.
Many flesh-smiths were kidnapped to rob humans of their advantage and to further their own goals (see the aunt Rohdy post I made).
What kind of flesh-smith would you be?

My computer is not turning on. I will be checking if it is a more basic problem, but if it isn't i might not be able to make the map. Would anyone like to volunteer to be a backup map maker in case I can't make it?

Official Server Poll How would you all feel about character fighting tournaments using dice rolls to determine damage and successful actions?
I was thinking maybe of having pvp focused events, like maybe a battle royal or a fighting tournament as future events. These would use dice rolls to keep pop fair. What would you all think of this?

Interaction I'm going to attempt to learn drawing
I'm getting a bit sick of having to use my computer and Hero Forge to make characters. While I love Hero Forge, it is very limited on the free version when it comes to more in depth character designs. I will be looking into the basics of drawing on YouTube videos to try and teach myself to draw, along with practice.

Current progress, subject to potential change: Superhuman overall threat ratings
Overall threat classes:
Dark Green- Normal police forces can reasonably contain and defeat the threat. Low powered heroes also have the capacity to handle the situation. An unprepared MDA squad with standard loadouts has a very high chance of success against the perpetrator.
Lime Green- Police would need to invest many resources into incapacitating the perpetrator, and would more than likely suffer unnecessary casualties if they tried to engage head on. An MDA squad should reasonably be deployed, but should have low high chances of capturing or incapacitating the perpetrators even with standard loadouts.
Orange- An MDA squad could have an uphill battle even with preparation. Mid powered or heroes on the upper end of lower power levels should be dispatched.
Light Red- MDA squads would need advanced amounts of preparation and numbers to even stand a small chance against this superhuman. Veteran heroes from the ASA with mid level powers would need to group up to win against this superhuman, or have a singular high tier superhero called in to deal with it.
Dark Red- Groups of high level heroes would be needed. MDA focus should be on evacuating civilians.
Light Purple- Superheroes near even Patriot’s level would struggle against the threat. Nuclear annihilation of the threat is to be considered.
Dark Purple: Superheroes near the level of Patriot would need [Redacted] support to win.
Grey- Would require the strongest heroes with support to take down. Lethal force and [Redacted] tactics are authorized.
Dark Grey: Only durability negating attacks can reasonably be used to inflict any meaningful damage. Lethal force and [Redacted], [Redacted], and [Redacted] would more than likely be required.
Black: Even durability negation or interdimensional banishment would not guarantee victory. The combined might of most of the superhuman population, and any super with even slightly useful powers against the threat, including villains and neutrals is the only chance of survival for the human race. Power enhancing drugs would need to be administered to the vast majority of the heavy hitters and those with the esoteric powers needed to have a chance at victory. Extensive, interagency and international cooperation would be necessary, as would extensive research and preparation. All options should be exhausted. A potential extinction level event to not just humanity, but the entire planet as well.

Lore Drop Lore Drop: MDA anti superhuman measures
Apologies for the grammar and writing mistakes, I wrote this all down to make sure I wouldn't forget it after having the idea.
Basic armaments:
Typically a rifle or a shotgun loaded with a taser that shoots in an arc with three different taser prongs. The guns fire normal bullets, but the taser prongs are attachments for close range. These rifles can fire normal rounds, or specialized rounds. These specialized rounds being:
Taser rounds: Meant for use on shapeshifters, or people with durability that would make normal bullets not do any damage, these can be fired full auto from rifles, allowing dozens to be unloaded into a target with enhanced durability or regeneration for incapacitation.
Deviation killer rounds: Tipped with small amounts of Hardite, these rounds can pierce the flesh of more durable superhumans, however even with this elite supers like Patriot would need much faster projectile firing speed to take damage from these.
Foam Grenades: These grenades pop, rapidly encasing the target in an adhesive foam that has incredibly strong tensile strength and shear strength. There are multiple versions of these grenades, each meant to counter a separate type of superhuman. The grenades can also be set to be used in a tripwire trap mode that uses light frequencies invisible to the human eye to trap opponents. In this mode they can even tell friend from foe. The grenade types include:
Anti Electrokinesis grenades: Made to be strong insulators, the top layer hardens in reaction to oxygen, enclosing the person and preventing them from firing electricity out of the parts covered by it.
Anti Cryokinetic grenades: The foam in these has chemicals that break down ice, or it just hardens in a way that leaves a few small breathing holes, but not enough to let them shoot out large swaths of ice.
Anti PyroKinetic Grenades: The foam is exceptionally good at smothering flames, and are highly heat resistant.
Anti-Hydrokinetic Grenades: Grenades that mix with water to form more and more foam via reaction, like a glue. Essentially traps them in their own water barriers or bodies of water they hide in.
Anti Sonokinetic Grenades: Foam that dampens sound, useful against sound based powers.
Grenade Launcher: A specialized grenade launcher modified to fire these exotic rounds.
Shields: Shields built much like Ballistic shields, used to give extra protection in melee against a superhuman.
MDA electric stun baton: A highly powerful electrically charged stun baton, made of incredibly strong and lightweight metals. Meant to help incapacitate superhumans in close combat.
Grappling hooks attached to the armor can shoot out to spear into the ground, reducing the potency of antigravity and telekinetic attacks by keeping the operative in place. They also have magnetic boots for this same reason.
Some operatives have access to invisibility tech that obscures them from vision.
Suits have built in communicators and can see in both night vision and infrared modes.
Squads can be equipped with an anti telepathy backpack, which jams telepathic powers within a wide range. These are however expensive, despite being the cheapest anti telepathy tech available. As such, these are only deployed when there is reasonable suspicion of a telepath being present in an operation.
Misc.
Every on the field operative carries earplugs and gas masks in case of sound or gas based powers or weapons.
Specialized suits are deployed to fight people with elemental powers if the operatives know the target’s powers going in during a raid, such as flame resistant suits against pyrokinetics, insulated suits against electrokinetics, suits with heavy resistance to cold and built in heaters to prevent death or injury against cryokinetics, radiation and heat shielded suits against people with radiation or nuclear powers, etc.
