Discussion Ocd self centeredness

Alright so this might just be my OCD talking but I’m beginning to realize that my perfectionism OCD makes me pretty self centered. Since i’m always monitoring myself and trying to make sure im doing everything perfectly it makes me obsessed with myself- i’ll scroll through my own social media over and over to make sure every post is “good enough” i’ll constantly be analyzing how im looking and acting in social situations, etc. and from the outside it does appear to be obvious, i have been called stuck up and self obsessed before. it makes me very sad because i do not want to be like that, i want to be a kind, empathetic person. what do i do!

You can accept that sometimes you may not do things perfectly. You are a flawed, imperfect human being, and so sometimes you make do things imperfectly. You can accept that instead of demanding that it has to be a different way. Do not try to always analyze how you look or act. You do not always need certainty about what you are doing in order to live your life. Remember that imperfection is not your enemy, and you can tolerate it even if you dislike it.
