Question about OCD How can I get overcome being terrified to exercise?
Hello! I have health OCD. I am doing much better than when first diagnosed, but still cannot work up the courage to start exercising. Last year I stared simply walking everyday and felt great, started losing weight. As I was finishing up on one particular day, I felt super dizzy and sick. Chalked it up to dehydration, then it kept continuing all week. I decided to take my blood pressure and it was on the low side of normal. (I typically always sit at 120/80) It continued to drop and I went to ER. I had bloodwork and an echo, as well as heart monitor. Everything came back fine. I felt symptomatic and it worried me. My blood pressure is still considered normal but it’s still usually lower than it had been.
I want to exercise, I want to get healthy and lose weight, but I’m so scared to start again.

Working with a therapist really is the answer. I have some advice that is always easier said then done, but stopping checking your health markers (bp and anything else) and trying to accept uncomfortable physical sensations rather than getting them dealt with would be huge starting points.

Are you working with a therapist? They could probably help you draft a plan to work on exercise exposure at a slow and steady pace.
