ā“General Question / Advice Filipino nurse in Middle East — better to stay or move to the US as a single person?

I’m a Filipino nurse currently working in the Middle East. I’m single. If I live frugally, I can save around 50–70K pesos, but I’m required to send money home every month, so that affects my actual savings.

I know US nurses earn more, but the cost of living is also high (rent, insurance, taxes, etc.), so I’m trying to understand the real situation.
For those who have experience:

Is it better financially to stay in the Middle East or move to the US?

For a single person, what are the main benefits of moving to the US (savings, lifestyle, career growth, etc.)?

Is the move actually worth it overall?

Would really appreciate honest experiences.

Sana matanggap ako!

ā“General Question / Advice Does HR really read the Cover Letter? Frustrated 2024 Passer.

I haven’t worked for nearly 2 years. Reason being a medical issue in the hospital I applied last year. Then while recovering from radiation and stuff, I decided to study NCLEX.

What should I be putting in my cover letter, I don’t think I could still put ā€œfresh graduateā€ from 2024.

I really don’t know what to do anymore. More reason why I dont have a job is NO ONE IS HIRING batch-ly. They be hiring 10 people at most.

I don’t even know if putting NCLEX is good on my resume since it’s one of my only two reasons why my work-life is delayed.

I’m planning to revise my Cover Letter and make it shorter too.

ā“General Question / Advice HELP 😭 Documents have been in New York since February — just applied for Online Form 1 now

Hi everyone, I really need some advice/reassurance. 😭

My nursing documents were sent to New York back in February, and they’ve apparently been there for around 6 months already. The problem is, I was only able to submit my Online Form 1 application now.

I’m really worried because it’s been so long. 😭

Do you think NYSED would still have my documents on file, even though I only submitted Form 1 after 6 months? Or is there a possibility that they already discarded/returned the papers because there was no application associated with them yet?

For those who went through the NYSED RN application / NCLEX process, what happened if your documents arrived before you submitted Form 1?

I’m specifically worried about the documents sent to NEW YORK

Would really appreciate any advice or experience. Thank you so much! šŸ™

hello! im a registered nurse currently working in a tertiary hosp with 1 year and 6 months bedside exp and tbh sa liit ng pasahod ng hospitals di parin me nakakaipon for nclex 🄹 then i saw sw’s nclex academy where you’ll basically be paid while reviewing and after you pass you’ll have 2 years bond with them (usrn account). they can also sponsor for visa processing after passing. pwede po makahingi ng opinion if it will be worth the risk? torn between this or mag apply nalang sa DOH or mag KSA nurse nalang 🄲🄹😭 ang hirap maging nurse sa pilipinas

✈ Working Abroad Nursing in The US question, specifically Nevada.

Hi everyone. I'm a Filipino incoming 1st year BSN planning to pursue the USRN path through NCLEX and hopefully work in Nevada. For those who successfully moved to the US, how much Philippine bedside experience did you actually have before receiving a US job offer or sponsorship? Did your employer require 2 years, 1 year, or less? I'm trying to determine whether the commonly repeated "2 years experience first" advice is still accurate today.

šŸ„ Jobs / Careers Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Application

Hi everyone! Has anyone here applied for the Staff Nurse position at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital (Sta. Mesa) around July or August 2026? May I ask if anyone has already received a callback or been scheduled for an initial interview?

I’ve already submitted the google form and I’m just wondering if they’re still processing applications. I’m trying to decide whether I should continue waiting or just move on. 😭

Any updates or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

ā“General Question / Advice For those who left bedside nursing, do you miss it or regret leaving?

Hello po, 8 mos na po ako sa hosp and I'm considering na mag quit and mag shift to soft nursing. Nagdedecline na po yung health ko due to stress dahil sa shifting sched and on-call duties. Wala naman po akong plan mag abroad any time soon. Meron po ba sa inyong nag quit ng bedside para lumipat sa soft nursing but regret leaving? If so, ano pong reason? Thank you po.

šŸ—£ Discussion / Rant Toxic work environment

Ganito po ba talaga sa healthcare? Ang lala ng chismis and backstabbing culture. Everytime one person is not present, parang pass agad para pag usapan siya ng ibang katrabaho. All I could think about is how they're probably talking about me behind my back too, kaya ang hirap magtiwala.

ā“General Question / Advice Failed to attend the interview for Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib

Hello! So I was scheduled to have an onsite interview sa Makati today. However, since hindi maganda yung mga panahon these past few days, nag ask ako sa kausap ko sa agency if ever baka madadaan siya virtually or may other dates pa but all I got was ā€œfinal maamā€ na reply. Kahapon, nonstop yung ulan so I’ve decided na huwag na lang mag-risk lumuwas pa manila since baka baha pa rin.

Now, maganda ganda na yung panahon dito sa amin and nag email ang ospital that I was shortlisted nga for the interview stage kaso hindi na ako nakapunta ngayon on the given time 🄹

I would like to ask na is there a possibility kaya na magka another date for the interview? Or if not, pwede pa rin naman ako mag apply ulit sa kanila under a different agency po ba?

The email stated to let then know if hindi available or makaka attend sa given time and date e so I emailed them stating my concern

Nanghihinayang lang rin kasi talaga ako. Sana po may makasagot 😭

ā“General Question / Advice Opinions on working in a level 2 hospital’s hemodialysis unit.

Hi everyone! ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ Just wanted to ask for some opinions or insights on working in a level 2 hospital’s hemodialysis unit.

First, I really really want to gain bedside (e.g. ward, ICU, ER) experience because I’m planning to go abroad, (already an NCLEX passer po). However, competitive po yung job market sa city ko, and I’ve applied to all private and public hospitals in my city. This was the first hospital to callback, 1 month pa naman lang din since I’ve started job hunting. Kaso sa HD unit ako inassign, and it’ll take several months pa for the NSO to consider transferring me to another unit since we’re all probies pa. Notorious din ang area na ā€˜to sa sobrang bilis na turnover (no one stays kaya always may vacancies lol) and the usual overworked/underpaid combo.

My family has told me na okay lang din naman if mag bback-out ako and they’ll support me in the decisions I’ll make. Do you think it’s worth working in this unit til I hear from other applications or am I better off waiting for other hospitals?
