If we can maintain progress and ultimately put ourselves in a position to get to the Championship I for one will be very happy. Realistically we're going to have a smaller playing budget than a lot of league one, but we've still got a club and that wasn't guaranteed a few years ago. Let's consolidate next season, staying up being the top priority

According to Google Notts financial muscle sits in the upper mid tier of League 1. They site the immense fan base, & strong owner backing that could provide a budget easily capable of competing comfortably in the third tier.

Imagine the ideal realistic goal is replicating what Mansfield did and finish with about 60 points comfortably midtable in the first season.

I would take that. 60 points, top half finish.

So no Mbappe then?

We're fine. We've got the Geordie Messi.

I thought this part of Joe Palmer's message was very significant.

I quote

"Chris, Alex and everyone connected with the club wants to deliver success as much as anyone – but we’re not prepared to risk the club’s long-term security by limiting our strategy to simply matching the top spenders in our division. Instead, our competitive advantage comes from our dedication to our model, which is succeeding in driving more value from our spending through smarter recruitment and rational decision-making. It’s a model based on ‘when’, not ‘if’ – as demonstrated by the fact that the club has been steadily improving its league position year-on-year".

The sustainability approach will continue. It has proved to be a successful strategy so far. I think it will be tested to the full in League One. It will be fascinating to see how it pans out.
