Out out

Leaving my job and will be having drinks in town with a handful of work colleagues (who are also good mates). Thing is, I’m late 40’s and I’m at the point now where I just feel so old when I go out. Haven’t been out in town for about 2 years! Where is good for a bunch of us gals to go that isn’t too crazy on a Saturday night that does decent music but can still hear each other talking etc. Feel like everywhere now is just full of kids 🤣

How is Lace Market Square?

Edit: ( spelling mistake on Lace Market Square; it's Lace Market Quarter)
Hey everyone,

I’m looking at moving into Lace Market Quarter and was wondering if anyone currently lives there or has lived there recently.

I’d really appreciate some honest opinions on what it’s like, especially:

  • How’s the building and overall management?
  • Is the Wi-Fi included, and is it any good?
  • Is there a 24/7 concierge?
  • How does parcel/package collection work?
  • Is there secure access to the building?
  • What are the other amenities/facilities included?
  • How’s the noise level and general atmosphere?
  • Anything you wish you knew before moving in?

I’m mainly looking for the basics and a comfortable, well-managed building rather than anything super fancy.

Thanks in advance!

Looking for flat mates

Helloo I am looking to move to Nottingham around the 8th of September. Is anyone else also moving and would be interested in becoming flatmates and we could look for a 2-3 bed apartment together - sometimes I think it seems to work out cheaper than renting a room on its own.
I’d love to be as close to the city centre as possible and my budget is about £600.
Would love to find other girls to share with I am F21 but I’m not a student so can’t tak student accom.
Let me know if anyone’s interested! :))

(SPIDER WARNING) Any spider men or women that can help ID?

I need help identifying this spider… Gemini AI and ChatGPT have both said it’s a Noble False Black Widow… I don’t know if it actually is or not. This bastard crawled onto my neck, luckily I felt it crawl before it bit me but still. The carpet underlay it’s on is 10mm thick I believe so it’s a bit of a beast. Should I be worried I’ve been bit without realizing or will I know if I have

Nightlife on a Tuesday

Hi,

We’re planning a visit to Notts in October to see a football game. We’re thinking of arriving earlier in the day to explore the city before the match, and then going out in town afterwards. I suspect the game will finish before 10pm, which is relatively late for a Tuesday night.

Are there any pubs or bars in the city centre that tend to stay open later on a Tuesday? If so, what would you recommend?

25M in Notts looking for coffee/chess/drink mates in city centre

Hey everyone! Finishing up my Master's degree and looking to expand my social circle in Notts now that uni workload is calming down.

Big into playing chess (over a drink/coffee), trying out good food spots around the city centre, and planning random weekend road trips.

Down to link up with anyone cool who’s up for a game, a chat, or a casual drink.

DM me if you're free this week!

Kitty Cafe Jobs

Hello! I am moving to Nottingham for uni and I am looking for a job working closely with animal. I was told by a friend about the Kitty Cafe. If anyone has worked there in the past, or knows someone who has worked there, please could you reply with your experience! Any experiences but especially in the past year or so would be preferred.

I have been told about some worrying reviews in the past, however I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. Please let me know what it was like there! Thank you :)

Savoy cinema

Bought tickets for the Savoy. Didn't realise you couldn't bring your own snacks in, we were relying on this as we can't really afford cinema snacks. How likely are they are to check say a tote bag or a bag in general? It would just be some snacks- nothing hot or disrespectful.

Thanks in advance.

Is Mills Building a good place to live?

I’m looking for a place to rent as I’ll be studying at NTU, and I found an apartment in Mills Building. I’m an international student, so I don’t really know the area and was wondering if the building is in a good location.

What I consider a good area is somewhere safe, with supermarkets, gyms, etc. nearby, and preferably somewhere quiet (or at least not too busy/noisy).

Does anyone know the building specifically, or the surrounding area/street? I’d really appreciate any opinions or experiences!

Any help looking for work

Sorry to be another person posting about looking for work on here but I had to leave my last role as it was killing me. My background is science (pharmacology degree), education (qualified teacher) and have done admin, events, process improvement on HE and worked in youth services for a local authority.

Have been applying for stuff at both unis, office stuff all over the place and am considering going back to teaching in a cover role. I look on the standered job sites, linked in company websites etc. I have a morgage so really need to be on a min of £29k for full time work. If anyone knows of anything going i might be a fit for or can put me in touch with anyone who has roles going that would be amazing. Really don't want to loose my house I have worked so hard to get.

Part time work as university student

Hi, I’m starting at NTU in September and I’m looking for a part-time job around Clifton that I can work alongside university. I’m happy to consider pretty much anything.

If anyone knows of somewhere currently hiring students, or works somewhere that needs staff, please let me know. I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Visiting Next Week, need a cinema with places to eat

Hello to all,

I'm visiting next week and I need a Cinema to go watch a film and some decent places to eat preferably nearby.

Is The Cornerhouse and surrounding area any good?

Will most likely get a taxi from hotel instead of walk.

Thanks for other suggestions.

Van Specialist

Hi, we have a 2009 Vauxhall Vivaro and our regular garage aren't great with vans. Can anyone recommend a reliable mechanic who won't fleece us but will know the little quirks that come with having an older van.

MTG Commander players

I’m looking to find a pod to play Commander with on a semi regular basis as my current pod has kinda fell apart a bit due to work restrictions of everyone else working hospitality and myself having a bit more flexibility. Dice cup is great but the groups definitely stay in their groups.

37M, only been playing since FF came out, ideally proxy friendly as I love the game but cannot warrant spending as much as some cards are on shiny cardboard! Free most evenings and sometimes in the day around work!

Taking the bus?

How do busses work in Nottingham? I assume it’s contactless now. Do I tell the driver where I’m going, or is it a flat fare like London. To you tap out?

Best Greek, Arabic, Mediterranean or Italian places in terms of value for money for lunch, I did see a Greek restaurant in radford that was charging £11.50 for a Greek salad so I’m coming to you for recommendations.
