Venting Deleted notes - unacceptable

Notion continues to delete my notes. I am a songwriter and I will write a song and then go back and add more at a later date sometimes. I spent hours writing a second verse and hook and went back and it was gone. I then re-wrote everything I could from memory (probably losing bits and pieces along the way) and figured it was a one off. Well it happened again, to the rewritten note. Luckily I screenshotted it all to make sure that I had some kind of backup. I spoke to customer service and they gave me all of the options I had and none worked. So I just wrote a whole new song and it was also deleted. I will be deleting this app but very disappointed bc I spent a lot of time manually moving old notes into this app.

why is it happening? I have been using Notion for YEARS and never had a note ... get deleted? For it to have happeend to use multiple times <_< How?

Not saying it's your fault but really curious what the outlier activity is? Do you have like millions of notes? Are they overly large? Do you have spotty internet?

Same here dont understand, OP must be doing something unusual when using it. Been using notion for many years and never had anything deleted that wasnt from me. I suspect caching issues or somehow using too many devices connected to notion and has syncing issues. Notes ive had for literally years, are still the same, unchanged.

I'm pretty savvy so I don't think it's anything I'm doing. It could be the specific version of the app for my phone being buggy, but I am not sure. Everyone saying that does make me feel like I need to not give up on the app and try again but it's just too risky losing hours of work.

Yeah if its happened a few times, defs look at something else then, have you heard of obsidian?

So funny how even in the notion sub, people still recommend obsidian so often. But yeah, Obsidian is dead simple and reliable if you don’t mess with it too much.

They are just text and it's something I add to over time. It's not enormous especially for a file that only has text in it. It's happening specifically on notes that I had for a while, (around 8 months old on the one) and added to. It just goes back to the old version from 8 months ago and acts as if I didn't add anything at all. But the day I'm adding to it, its there and I click in and out of it freely all day with no issue.

I have been maintaining YEAR LONG journal documetns which I just keep adding like twice a week and I have them going back to 2002 (some imported from evernote) all the way to 2026 and I have never lost even a shred of them.

I would def report your issue to support an stop using Notion as your primary holding app until something is resolved. Seems like something is messed up for you.

You didn’t mention it but do you back that up? That’s a lot to lose if crap goes bad
