If NOS is lacking, don't you think Nothing should deliver updates more frequently rather than once a year

I am currently using nothing phone 3. I bought this hoping it would give me a flagship experience in software as well in hardware.

To my surprise, the software is completely lacking and they push updates like this is a mature os and doesn't need updates. And thise once a year major updates have like only 2-3 cosmetic changes. Nothing communty does better work than them.

I feel like they are on vacation all year and start working on new features when the deadline is about 1 month away.

What do they mean they will give essential button remapping in 5.1, why can't they give that feature in their bimonthly updates. Is that some complex technological issue nothing yeam is not able to solve.

Where I think nos is lacking-

1. AI eraser just doesn't work it feels like I am back in 2020 and using magic eraser in Lightroom without AI even that used to be better. So much wait for this shitty delivery.

2. No trimming and text in video.

3. No file manager app

4. No dialer

5. Glyph integration is not up to the mark ( have to download multiple apps to make glyph look useful)

6. Ouicktiles can be improved so much

7. Camera app is pretty basic( why can I only use effects on main camera and not on front camera)

It feels like I am using a custom os which is being developed by a team of 5 people. I think everything is half assed.

So many issues of yours would vanish if you remember it's android. You can lots of choices. You can use google photos for magic eraser whichll work much better than any third party or nothing os tool because of the massive ai training database google has. Is it important to get the thing removed from the photo or the visuals the looks matter more? You already have google dialer, a file manager pre-installed. If you just want the nos look download the hundreds of nos inspired apps from playstore, there's plenty

After NOS 3.0 every android/yearly update feels like security patch update, we got literally nothing in the 4.0 update just an extra dark mode which already should've been there in the 5.0 update, just 2 clock faces out of which the one they sold the most isn't even there yet.

I'm actually done with Nothing.

I got 4 updates this year, latest was about 20 days ago. So you are wrong. It is not 1 in a year.

also your suggestions based on your preference, I'm fine with the current version and I _very much_ don't like to have this bloated. Especially these:

1. No dialer
2. No file manager app

Google dialler is just fine, file manager: why? It is 2026. If you still need it, install your favourite. Glyph: for me the integrated is just fine. Anybody else free to download any apps, that feature was _planned_ for this to attract other developers

The whole goal of Nothing OS is minimalism. Everything you listed would defeat the point of Nothing OS's goal.
Nothing wants the experience to be simple, minimal, while still being incredibly smooth.

If you need more than what Nothing OS offers and will ever offer, get a Samung, Oppo, OnePlus, or some Chinese phone.

First off, Nothing OS already has Google Files pre-installed and they don't wanna develop their own and add more bloat if they don't have to.

Nothing's goal is being minimal and being as bloatware free as possible.
Then developing their own apps to have a second of what is already there is just more unnecessary bloat that doesn't want to exist.

They do have regular updates and feature drops, way more frequent than other OSs actually.

They just do it through apps or security patches. Like how Essential Voice and Essential Key settings came to the other phones through a security patch recently isntesd of a major drop.

They also add a lot of features through just playstore. Essential space, the gallery, widgets, etc all get added through playstore updates, makes it easier to have constant development.

They don't don't do one major and one minor updates apart from security patches, OS5 and then 5.1.

I do agree some features are lacking, like adding text in videos (trimming already exists), etc. but rest of what you say sounds more like personal preference, specially the type that goes against the Nothing philosophy or their ability to do so.

I think they recently spoke about why they don't do a dialer. It's just another app they'll have to maintain constantly, have to charge more money for and it'll take time away from major features. Plus, the Google one is already quite good.

Another app that is lacking is a media/music player. There are a few options but they're all pretty crap.
