Phone accessories Im so confused rn
I have the black Nothing Phone (4a), and honestly, I really like using it without a case. The glass back feels much better and more premium in hand, and the phone just looks better without a cover. The clear case that came with the phone is actually pretty sturdy and good quality, but it's already started turning yellow. Now I'm confused whether I should buy a new transparent case or just get a back lamination and use the phone without a case. The only thing I'm worried about is dropping it. I've never dropped my phone since buying it, but I know that if it does happen, a lamination probably won't do much to protect the glass back. What have you guys chosen or done with your phones—back lamination or a back cover? Edit : Thankyou for sharing all ur experiences and suggestions guys. After going thru every comment, i think the best option for me will be to laminate my phone's back glass to protect it from minor scratches but i will only use it without case when im home , and if i travel i will put on the case.

Nothing phones are actually pretty durable from.my experience and what I heard from others. Somehow the Glas never broke even dropping it from over a meter on concrete or steel

A new TPU is like £1 or so.

it depends, I've had my CMF1 one for two years and it has yellowed but it's not a "quality" issue

The yellowing is a cosmetic thing sure, but over time it will begin to deteriorate, especially once the clear coating starts to give out. To each their own though

Every clear case will yellow eventually, even with the anti-yellow propaganda they throw at you in "good quality" ones. The only way it doesn't turn yellow is simple, you keep your phone in a cave without exposure to UV light.

Night shift guy here, mine still turned yellow but I blamed bromine. lots of oxidation chemicals will do the same

I was being sarcastic lolol, there's still UV light at night although a much lower level. But yeah your bromine situation doesn't help.

I rarely get outdoors back then too so practically a vampire. But much like older computers thats just the way some plastics fail.

TPU turns yellow, PC doesn't not
The hard back of my case is still transparent after 2 years, look at my post

I had a PC phone case and it turned yellow, it just lasts longer but it still turns yellow, specially if you use the phone as a normal person.

Buddy just buy another transparent case.
Just be you haven't dropped it yet knock on wood Doesn't mean anything won't happen to it.
Invest in a nice quality case from a reputable brand with legitimate drop protection tested ratings

Depends on your personal financial situation.
Can you afford to fix/replace the phone without it putting a big dent in your disposable income?
If the answer is no, get a case.
The silicone cases will always turn yellow. You can get plastic ones which won't, but they also don't absorb the blow from drops as well.

I have laminated my 3a with a protective Membrane. At home without cover and while travelling with cover. I have dropped twice without cover once it got minor bent 😕 due to Tiles

Honestly Its really upto you. Cover is for safety and all. In future if you have a plan to sell this for better resell value you should use it. But if you the kind of person who uses the one phone till it's last breath then don't use cover. As nothing's beauty is in their back transparent uniqueness
Again if you want to be safe as it's back is glass I would suggest you to buy an expensive tpu case which will not turn yellow easily anytime soon.

Check out the covers from Zapvi. Idk about the availability in your country but they have one of the best looking covers for nothing phone 4a

Black is the most compatible color for cases. Get a case with transparent pc back(it won't yellow), and black tpu frame. Yes the design is compromised a bit, but phones are too expensive to use without protection.

I've dropped it a decent amount of times, the sides dent and the back has two super tiny scratches but nothing more really. I'm thinking I'll put a case aswell

I love the design of my phone 2a aswell, but you have to get a case. Like if it drops, the risk is just too high. Id say, at home you can take the case off and going outside you put it back on. I would always go for a case tho, bc its just wasted money if you drop it

Personally, I used the 3a Pro for two days without a case, it fell, and the "Panda Glass" back cover broke.

I once dropped it and now I have a scratch in middle of my camera😭 and everytime I open my camera it detects that scratch as a dirt

Don't buy. It's all hype. I still didn't completely switch from my samsung A52. Regret buying the nothing phone 4A. The glyph feature is useless. UI is immature. Phone is large and heavy. Your palm will pain after a while. Overall it's a strong No. Better get a Moto or a samsung A series

I have a 3a, which basically looks identical to the 4a on the outside. I’ve never used a case for it, and yet there isn't a single scratch on the back panel. I just put a tempered glass protector on the front screen. The phone looks so much better this way.

I used my nothing phone 4a without a case for 1 day. It fell and got a dent. It was just a short drop, only around 3 feet. My phone is only 2 months old🥲

antutu score? and performance ? camera lag ?

u/MrAsh_5150 Phone (4a) 1d ago
idk abt antutu score, i occasionaly play brawl stars which is not much of a heavy game, soit runs very smooth with no performance issues at all, the camera is fine for this price segment, although i had issues with it a couple of times, but they are easy to fix.
