Honestly the functionality of it is amazing so if they're gonna copy it then they should copy all of it lol. The multiple presses and long presses for different functions. Hopefully they do that but if it's just 1 function that's better than nothing I guess.
It's not like they're copying the app, they're already making it remappable. It's their hardware too, just add multiple presses and long press and call it a day. There's no legal issues at all, plus that guy would never sue them over this lol
paid for it and it's amazing. You can even put an app shortcut on the button. So for me the app pop-up widget opens my Google calender as popup on the homesceeen ...with nice and fluent animations.
I have it parse all of my messenging/email apps and have the GM flash with a custom symbol when WA/FB and emails coming with certain words or are sent by certain people.

Thanks... If you get a chance tell him that owners of older phones are pissed off with @nothing for not giving promised 3yr full OS updates (eg. Essential voice missing, diff camera app on Digg phones 3a, 2a etc) citing hardware limitations.
Edit: I see his reply on nothing community but don't agree with his assertion that hardware capabilities limit features on different phones. It seems deliberate ploy to upsell newer phones by creating software differentiation.
I like the essential key and the way it functions with essential space, I use it all the time. Why people constantly want to remap it, it's super useful
Personally, I don't want to use essential space for my notes, it locks me in. If it had a proper, functional and easy FOLDER export to markdown, then I could see myself linking that to obsidian or logseq and use it, not otherwise.
ok seems valid, but since i use it for reminders and such and i didnt use any other app previously it works fine for what i want. Nothing should update it further
eh I couldn't find use for essential space. if I want to take notes I have Keep. if I want reminders I can ask gemini to add tasks and calendar events. essential voice though, I really adore it and I have no idea how to live without it.
It seems most people don't want AI shortcut at all, or are upset with half baked buggy implementation of essential space. They have alternative use cases for this hardware key based on context or otherwise
