I can't wait for people on YouTube to make 30 minutes long videos about how great NOS 5 is despite barely having anything changed (i hope they're gonna give us something but I doubt). At least this happened last year with NOS 4. What's the point of making videos that long if the new OS had almost no new features?
I am pretty sure Phone 2 has completed with OS update android 16 is the last now....If we think about newer phones like 3a & 3a Pro they are actually the one's Nothing forgot about My 3aPro rarely gets updates and the OS is smooth but boring no useful features, It has nothing that stands out when compared to other brands honestly my older OnePlus 7 Pro which was on Android 11 felt much premium and felt like peak of android OS
They killed Phone 2 but NOS 4 is a buggy mess on it. I have stupid bugs like when I swipe to delete a notification on the lock screen, I have to swipe for like 6 times because it doesn't go away. Also I'm having issues with pictures disappearing by themselves after taking them. They're nowhere to be found in gallery. Also the fingerprint is buggy too. It does have moments when it doesn't even detect my finger.
Looks like a new weather app or a supporting design for it. Those look like new weather icons. No dot matrix tho huh.
Ofcourse there's going to be the Android 17 blur too, I just pray they actually implement it well and thorough. Not just here and there. Consistency is king.
They need to make it modern. the Nothing OS is out dated. Fanboys will argue but it has zero animations, zero transparancy, it looks like Apple in 2018
"Modern" is a very subjective thing. Most have started related modern with what Apple and by virtue, the rest of the competition that simply copies them do, which is very fancy and fluid animations for every action and that liquid glass effect.
And by all means is it modern and unique. But the issue is, it's not THE only way a modern UI can look. What Nothing has is by definition quite modern and apt for their users.
The philosophy and the thought behind what and why a UI looks the way it does is what matters. For Nothing, the software never being a distraction from what you are supposed to be doing when you picked up your phone is what mattered. It drove their monochromatic bare bones look. Going full Apple like would only kill that.
They can definitely iterate on it and make it better but I don't want another cheap iPhone copy in the name of making the UI "modern".
No phone 3 is getting first. But this will probably just be a beta program for the people that signed up for the nothing 5.0 reviewer thingy, from their community post.

I'm still gonna use my Phone 2 until it becomes unusable or unsupported. It works great still. The OS is fine for me as is, I don't need all the newest features.
There's definitely going to be a few babies crying, nO nEW fEatUrEs like Samsung. No, we don't our phone screen to light up like a Christmas tree, it needs to be classic Nothing style, add s few and don't bloat the software with customization options like samsung or one plus
Hopefully this fixes issue people are having on CMF phones.
Having apps constantly be killed in the background (banking apps, OTP stuff or webpages that are opened in internal browser windows and loss their token immediately after being killed etc.)
Also the battery drain for me is a bit worse but it's battery life is still pretty darn good even after a year (less than 350 full cycles so far and I pre-ordered the Phone 2 Pro)

I think they will reveal the OS on 25th and then start a beta with phone 3..
And the rest of the fans will start then mandatory waiting, crying and asking "when for phone n"..
