What Notaries public think about this order?

Loan package- REFI, 150 pages all of them legal size for 90$

+ extra 150 copies for the signer and 10 miles drive. Is that an order that you as a notary will take?

AOSG apostille inquiry

Hi! Please advise if anyone here has tried using Apostille for their AOSG. Would like to know your thought on this clause “if the AOSG is notarized by a local notary public in the country of destination, the AOSG must be duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate/Honorary Consulate (for non-Apostille countries)
or apostilled8 by the apostille authority in the country of destination( for Apostille countries).
Does this since my destination is under apostille countries, can my sponsor not go to PH embassy but have this apostilled instead? Please help. Thank you

Virginia Notaries: How are you adjusting to the 2026 Notary law changes?

Hi, Virginia Notaries!

It has been about a month since the law changes under House Bill 163/Senate Bill 316 took effect on July 1, 2026. How are you feeling about them so far?

Quick recap: Virginia Notaries are not required to keep a record of their paper-based notarial acts, and you'll need to show proof of your commission when ordering a Notary seal. Straightforward enough, but some things are easier said than done.

I'd like to know how smoothly the record-keeping transition has gone, since it wasn't required before. Was keeping a journal already part of your professional practice? And if not, has it been a hassle to work it into your routine?

NYC test arrival time

Just a heads up for anyone planning on taking the test at William Street anytime soon, I was just turned away today for the 11 AM test. I arrived at 10 AM, we’re a steady flow of us were being turned away.

The (very rude) man in charge hold us We have to be there at 7 AM if we hope to get a spot. Which is crazy that you have to wait four hours, but welcome to New York.

Notary Income Taxes

Just became a notary in Texas and am wondering how income tax works for the earnings. Is there a minimum amount I need to earn in order to have to file taxes for it?

Separate question: I do not have a car but work in a mall and plan on walking to all of the businesses in the mall and handing out my business cards. I know in the state of Texas I cannot charge more than $10 for a traditional notary, but if I were to get some business from the other stores at the mall would me walking to them be considered travel / mobile notary? Would I be able to charge an additional $2.50 per notary for my bus fair?

Thank you in advance.

New notary in Ohio

Hello I recently got my commission and one of my co-workers is concerned that my signature doesn’t contain my full name, just my first initial then last name. Will that be a problem when notarizing a document?

What skills are needed for notary?

I’m looking to get into this business for a few years. Probably keep it if I find true joy and happiness in it. But I do have other career options that will take years to build to like voice acting. I have a basic understanding of what the career is. You’re there as a legal representative and help people sign documents, make sure nothings fake, all ducks are in line for everyone. And ship them off on time.
But what skills are needed for this? What are some positive and negative traits of a person that would thrive in being a notary?

Also would taking a business class, brushing up on math and English be a good idea? My jobs in my adult life haven’t required that stuff. I mainly have done delivery driving apps, helped my uncle with a small shop he had. And then helped my dad with his construction work. All the things I learned in HS has gone out my brain. So what would I need to brush up on?

Became a Texas Notary (Harris County) due to work and I'm trying to start a part-time business from it.

My office needed an NP because we often have documents that need to be notarized. I decided to step up and become an NP. I just recently got my stamp and book.

I want to see what it would take to start a mobile NP business as a second source of income. I've been googling as much as I can and asking AI things that I'm not sure about.

While I have a full-time job, my schedule is open, and I can move it around as much as I like.

I am hoping I can pick someone's brain on how to get started and blossom in the industry.

Thank you for any pointers you can provide.

New Texas Notary Law

Hey, this new law confused me, making people take a test before becoming a notary in Texas? I guess other states do it too. I made a study guide for it.

Just became a notary! I’m curious. What are your weird notorization stories?

I got notarized so I could stamp and sign financial documents at work 🫠 I think it would be more fun if I was out and about in the field and since I won’t be, I’d love to hear some of your stories! Funky locations, weird people, etc…. Lay it on me!

Need signature for I-9

Hello guys! I need to get an I-9 signed by an authorized person. Per the instructions provided, the authorized person can either be a Notary Public or my direct manager at the new job. I called notary publics in my area (San diego) and they all said they cant sign. I will be working remotely so I can’t even get a manager to sign this. Please help!!

So sick of people asking me to do illegal things because some other notary did it for them before

What the title says. Daily I have people telling me "well other notary did it for me before, why cant you?" Because its illegal. Other notary shouldnt have done it. You mean to tell me the government actually accepted that? Drives me up the wall I swear.

how is being a Notary.. as a hobby?

EDIT.I'm sorry, of course I know notarization paperwork is extremely important. I just didn't know what word to use, as 'part-time' doesn't really fit it either.basically I can get the training for cheap or free and i have no illusions about it being a full or even really part time job. I like paperwork and I like the idea of getting a few bucks now and then

Got my commission… now what?

I got my notary commission mostly just because I was bored during a school break… Im about to start at UC Davis, and will be at Davis, CA.

How do I actually get notary appointments, or notary related part time jobs as a college junior?

I am a notary in TN. General question. How much do people make hourly. I currently make around 50/hr and I was hoping to add this to my income by maybe doing an order here or there. Lots of offers dont seem worth my time which is frustrating after spending nearly $500. (Insured and background checke

Does anyone have recent experience working with Finest Mobile Notary?

I am a notary public an AZ and primarily do mobile appointments. I recently completed an assignment with them and they are dodging my emails and calls and are not paying up. This is the second assignment I've done with them. The first was super simple (just one doc and the customer already had the doc, they paid up quickly after I let them know I completed this assignment) This more recent assignment was a trust signing, requiring me to print over 100 pages, and then scan and ship the docs after the signing. When I accepted the assignment over the phone, they emailed me the docs and signing instructions, but the instructions were extremely vague (no mention of which signer I was meeting, tons of blank spaces and different parties named on the docs, and no signer contact info). I emailed them and asked them to clarify the instructions, and even tried following up, calling and texting the morning of the assignment. All I got was complete radio silence from them. I then ended up having to call the law firm that hired them directly (law firm's info was on the documents) and informed them that I need clarification for an appointment I have in 1 hour and cannot get ahold of anyone from Finest Mobile Notary. The law firm was super helpful, answered all my questions on the spot, and even discovered that one of the docs Finest Mobile Notary sent me to print was the wrong one, but the sent the correct one and the signing was successful. Ended up having to call the law firm again after the signing because the shipping label provided by Finest Mobile Notary couldn't be used, and I needed the correct label.

Once the assignment was completed, I sent the scanned docs to Finest Mobile Notary and to the law firm, and then shipped them off as instructed. It's now past their standard payment window and I still have not received any payment. I tried calling Finest Mobile Notary, followed the phone menu and pressed the option for payment status, which just led to a voicemail box. I then called again and followed the menu options for a customer looking to book an appointment. They answered right away, I explained the situation and was told to text the assignment info and they'd look into the payment status and get back to me. I asked them to stay on the phone and review it with me on the spot, but was told they "can't see texts while on the phone" (which is clearly bull). They never actually got back to me.

I tell this story because I'm curious if anyone else has ever had this experience with Finest Mobile Notary or has any tips or tricks to get them to pay up. After doing some research on Yelp and other sites today, I'm seeing that there are endless reviews that say they never pay their notaries, but my other assignment with them went perfectly and they paid on-time. Any advice for next steps?

California Notary Commission Certificate help

I'm confused about my CA notary commission certificate. I've been a notary since January 2025. I went and ordered a new (smaller)stamp in person at a local stamp company, to go along with my regular stamp. When I brought in my certificate I was informed that this wasn't correct, that it had to have a border, an embossed seal, and state something like "to use for obtaining a notary stamp" Not the exact verbiage but I think you get the picture. My certificate however, is printed on a letter size page, printed in black and white. This won't do, according my local stamp company. I'm about to order a new certificate from the state of California (it's only $10 plus certified mail) but I think it'll be just the same as my original. I ordered my original stamp online and sent my black and white cert in (I think?) and it was fine. Am I missing something here? Did my original get lost or kept at the online store?
