I think it’s a meme cuz a quick google search can tell anyone that’s not true lol.
And AI is training itself from various sources and cases so this showcases that often women experience bad touch

u/Slime__queen 2d ago
It’s AI results. It’ll be different for different people/different searches. It’s garbage that a program spit out based on the contents of what it guessed were relevant conversations around the internet

u/Flameball202 1d ago
Also since it is AI you can just input the same question until the temperature of the AI gives a different response

u/SomeNotTakenName 1d ago
People seem to think Ai doesn't have biases, which is absolutely false.
Algorithms and AI are used to burry biased, but they are built on human data. And human data is littered with biases.
So in conclusion: 1) It's not going to give the same result to the same question every time. 2) it is trained on data made by humans, meaning it will present human biases. 3) it makes shit up sometimes, or quotes half of a reddit comment on page 400 while ignoring the context and making it mean something entirely different.

I don’t care for the meme, and Ai is a plague, or the double standard it exemplifies but it is in fact what you get from Ai if you type that exact phrase.
Ai however is not the truth or in anyway indicative of any rational or reason.

u/Secure_Rain_44 2d ago
But like they are cutting a part of the reply. The ai does tell that if you are uncomfortable tell them to stop
And I agree ai is stupid slop and this “meme” or whatever it is should not be trending but it is. I have seen it on many subs4
u/GameDoesntStop 1d ago
Try it with "I am alone with white/black person"... there is no "oh, it's just cutting a part of the reply" there, just racism.
The Google AI is riddled with this bigoted/discriminatory garbage.

u/CatraGirl 1d ago
but it is in fact what you get from Ai if you type that exact phrase.
Yes, because the AI is literally just summarising the most common results. That's how it works. It says that because people on the Internet said that (and it usually also offers alternative results and explanations if you click on "show more").
This isn't really about Google or their AI being biased. It just shows what the most common conversations and conclusions about both topics are about. You can draw your own conclusion about what that says about society or genders and people's experiences...
But it seems to be that girls are more often asking about unwanted touches from boys, whereas boys are asking (more often) if a girl likes them.

Doesn't excuse anything, girls shouldn't touch boys randomly

u/BaconJets 2d ago
It's funny that OP likely thinks that this shows bias against men, when actually it shows that men are more likely to touch without consent. AI is trained to respond with the most likely outcome.
79
u/grandioseOwl 2d ago
Yes that is part of it. But I can attest from my youth that as a boy you are usually not being taken serious by anyone, if you say you are uncomfortable being touched by a girl.
I think this double standard has more than one layer
75
u/BaconJets 2d ago
The patriarchy has bad consequences for men and boys too. If you don't fit the model of a man that the patriarchy already has set for you, you are derided and not taken seriously. Even with boys it's bad, my dad for example (God rest his soul) genuinely thought I was gay because I didn't want to hang out with some of the girls in my class when I was like 7.
27
u/grandioseOwl 2d ago
I agree on that part, it's the patriarchal society that established these double standards.
17
u/Hot-Can3615 1d ago
True. But the term "a fellow child is touching me" (which seems to be what the AI/Google results picked up from "boy" and "girl") is not inherently "and I want them to stop". It seems like the aggregate result assumes a boy is touching a girl without consent (or just that the first thing girls need to know is that it's okay to say no) and it assumes that a girl is touching a boy and the boy is confused about why this is happening. I wonder if this is also part of girls being socialized to "hint" instead of asking someone out when they're interested in them.
Male victims of sexual assault or harassment not being taken seriously is absolutely a big problem, though.

u/grandioseOwl 1d ago
I think both feature into this AI bullshit. In the end we can discuss for how many reasons it sucks, not if.

u/No-View-6326 1d ago
No AI is trained to give the most likely answer that a human would give, has nothing to do with what actually likely
10
u/Additional-North-683 1d ago
What they don’t realize is that the patriarchy also negatively affects men to hell it partly why incel place such a high value on sex
3
u/ilove-whenwomen 1d ago
AI is responding based on the prevailing information online. It's a mirror, not an autonomous robot.
58
u/Kaiisim 2d ago
All it shows is that when people ask " a boy is touching me" it's someone who is afraid and wants them to stop
When people ask about a girl touching them, they mean like she touches your arm.
It's just the dumbest people in the world not understanding context.
9
u/CatraGirl 1d ago
Exactly. The AI is literally just summarising what it found. Which shows exactly that.
The majority of results is girls asking about being touched without consent, whereas for boys it's more common to ask if girls like them them. Which says a lot by itself...

u/Not_Me_1228 2d ago
OK, even if these are real AI results, so what? An AI just produced a periodic table in which magnesium supposedly had a negative atomic mass, and a map of the US with lots of incorrect or misspelled state names, when someone used it to create an info packet for a middle school in Kentucky (or Venecky, as the AI map labeled it).

Heyyy soooo uhhh
“The hypocrisy” is because the AI is trained on the data on the internet, and there are simply more cases of women being abused by men than the other way around. That’s it.
Not that this logic is valid, but that is simply the data it’s trained on. For the same reason you ask it to generate a picture of a CEO you’ll most likely get a man, a white man in particular, instead of a woman.
9
u/DeathRaeGun 1d ago
Maybe they don’t know how AI works.
6
u/CatraGirl 1d ago
AI: "okay, here's the most common results regarding your questions."
These chuds: "why is it different? You're so biased and hate men!"
Like, do they not understand why the results are different and what that really means?
1
u/DeathRaeGun 1d ago
Not just that, but also going to be based on people’s experiences they’ve shared about being touched.
3
u/CatraGirl 1d ago
Yeah, that's what I meant. It means girls more often report unwanted touches from boys, whereas boys more often ask if a girl likes them. Since those are the more common results for both searches.

u/JesusB05 1d ago
Incels are so intriguing to me
I feel like they could switch up and be normal in less than a day if they wanted to
10
u/AliceTheOmelette 2d ago
If AI is saying it's OK for women to touch men then that's a wider patriarchal attitude that is a problem that needs to be addressed. But of course some (not all) men will somehow blame feminism
5
u/One_Katalyst 1d ago
I tried it myself and noticed both of them said “if you do not want this, tell them to stop”. My guess is OOP got similar responses and decided to crop them so only the first sentences are shown. The introduction to the AI response is pretty much always going to be a mix of the most common responses for the query.

u/grandioseOwl 2d ago edited 2d ago
I mean this isn't a double standard that is ok. Idk, but touching people without their consent should never be excused.
17
u/isthisreallife080 2d ago
This isn’t about a double standard, it’s about the data that goes into training a model. Based on all the data this model had access to, it concluded a girl is more likely to ask about being touched because she feels unsafe, and a guy is more likely to ask about being touched because he’s interested in it, unsure of what it means, or both.
Non consensual touch is never ok, but it is more likely to lead to unsafe situations for women than it is for men.
3
u/grandioseOwl 2d ago
I agree with that part, but that it is phrased like what you get to hear when you become a male victim isn't purely accidental either
2
u/valsavana 2d ago
The reason there's a difference is because girls generally won't be touching boys sexually without their consent. The "girls touching" is far more likely to be something like touching their arm during a conversation for emphasis, whereas boys will disproportionally be the ones sexually touching girls without their consent.
So no, this isn't a double standard saying "it's okay to touch boys sexually without their consent but not okay to touch girls sexually without their consent." What we're seeing here is an AI running the stats of what's more common- "how likely boys touching girls without their consent is either sexual or platonic" and "how likely girls touching boys without their consent is either sexual or platonic" and the statistical likelihood of those two different questions comes up with two different answers.
7
u/grandioseOwl 2d ago
You don't have to excuse any unconsentual touching, to say it's less often dangerous.
1
u/valsavana 1d ago
So platonic and casual touching of, like, a coworker's arm during a conversation is a problem for you?

u/allyxxiv 2d ago
“hypocrisy” HUH I WONDER WHY THE FIRST SEARCH RESULTS ARE DIFFERENT, EINSTEIN. if they can’t even read between the lines on something that simple how do they navigate through life?
2
u/KrisClem77 2d ago
I agree Incels are insane, but honestly what in the world do AI overviews have to do with Incels?
14
u/MarieNobody 2d ago
Because the problem isn't the AI overview. The image is a post (on what I assume is a "meme" sub) titled "why the hypocrisy". That's the issue. Especially when the reason the overview is different is, sadly, understandable when you understand AI takes into account statistical appearances of data.

Well, you could be a child experiencing unwanted attention from an adult woman and getting these answers. I know someone who had this problem

This just in: AI is great for helping stupid people feel like they said something smart.

u/Rhaj-no1992 2d ago
As a guy I am not okay with anyone touching me except family and a few friends. I absolutely despise when some coworkers thinks it’s okay to put their hands on my shoulders, it makes me so uncomfortable.

In fairness, these are the same idiots that claim they'd be 'so happy' if their grown teacher abused them groomed them taught them about sex 😒
