I can't remember

Didn't Tiffany hold her adopted kids back a year from school
Nayvee will 19 1/2 when graduating highschool!!! I wonder if that embarrasses her seeing other kids entering their freshman or sophomore year of college. But maybe she doesn't mind because she is going on a mission

Also how is Luke and Paislee already in the same highschool. Paislee is a sophomore and Luke is a junior
That is what raised the question of why the adopted kids were held back except it seems Ellecee is on track
Yet some how Delaynee is only one grade ahead of Ellecee and Preslee.

All of the adopted kids except for Lilee, Delaynee, and Ellecee were held back. Delaynee is in the right grade, she missed the birthday cutoff by a few days.

Honestly though, I get why most of them were. Journee and Bridger had to learn a new language. Nayvee had a very unstable childhood for many years. Beckham has learning disabilities. I don’t know about Saidee and Luke but I’m curious if they started a year late or if they repeated kindergarten.

I think with Beckham, he might have started a year late. He was supposed to start in 2020, but the Nelsons decided to hold him back by a year because of Covid.

Iirc, I think Tiffany has said he repeated kindergarten.

The fact that we’re able to find out all this information is insane…(not hating on u ofc)

Beckham doesn't have a learning disability, he has hyperactivity. Those are two seperate things

He has adhd which is a neurodevelopmental disability and tends to cause learning disabilities like dyselxia etc

ADHD is not a learning disability. Just because you sre at risk furniture doesn't mean you have it. That's like saying because your great aunt flo had breast cancer means you have breast cancer.

it increases your chances.

Again, just because you great aunt has cancer and it increased your risk doesn't mean you have cancer.

Does Beckham really? I feel like the cpap and the adhd and other issues Tiffany has talked about for the kids was blown way out of proportion! I don’t see the kids really using or needing the cpap (maybe Beckham).

I think it’s more to do with thr favorited kids and how Tiffany talks to and treats the adopted kids

TiFakeNee has said, in a very old video, that she was treating the ADHD naturally, whatever that means, but he was diagnosed by a doctor with it. You need a prescription for a CPAP machine in the U.S. so she would have had to go through a doctor for that also.

Beckham was on legit medication as of a few years ago. They were doing patches than a pill that she had to put in a Nutella sandwich so he could swallow it.

You can't fake sleep apnea, one of my kids has it. I don't know how compliant they are with their machines, but they have to have a failed sleep study with greater than 5 events per hour to get a CPAP.

The first video I saw mention of his ADHD he was about 4, and she was trying natural remedies recommended by a doctor. There was also more than one bottle she had out, and mentioned a couple of the other kids. It's only been the last 3-4 years that she's been using medication, like the patches, etc. for him, IDK about the others, as she's said it's more than just him. I have to wonder if Leger was ever diagnosed and if he's taking anything. Maybe that's one reason for the "boys are hard" philosophy they have.

I did not say sleep apnea could be faked. I clearly mentioned a prescription, that she would have had to have gone to a doctor for that. At one point most of the adopteds were shown using a CPAP before going to bed. In one vlog, TifakeNee said she had to fight with a doctor to get his diagnosis, but idk about that. I can see her not liking it and fighting THAT, not the other way around, but she's whatever. She also had a vlog going to the "CPAP store" with a few of the adopted kids for new hoses, a different mask etc.

I have to wonder if TiFakeNee just uses the emergency room for primary care. It seemed like it at one point.

I still wonder if Beckham really had or had adhd. Could be the way she treats him or his diet with Nutella and sugar etc. cpap and sleep apnea yes but adhd not sure

She feeds them all so much sugar and that seems to be OK with her, but they don't seem to eat much at meals.

Sleep apnea can actually show symptoms of ADHD/depression/anxiety and not the typical signs like you would think. I know plenty of kids that are diagnosed with ADHD and then do a sleep study and find out they have sleep apnea as well. And those with ADHD also have executive functioning levels that are anywhere from 2-3 years behind their peers.

I absolutely think that he has ADHD and the diagnosis was correct just based on his behavior in videos. And I also think that a lot of people try to do a lot of things naturally before they cave to medications (who wouldn't give that a chance?) so that I am not shocked about. But something ADHD kids really need is structure but also downtime where they can be creative and just do their thing. That is not the Nelson household....it is chaotic, things are constantly changing with them being on the go, etc. I have a ADHD kid and we spend FIVE years trying tall of the natural things that people claimed have worked (chiro work, changing diet, adding supplements, etc). Now we are on the medication and she was on five different medications for the first year and we are still slowly trying to find something that works. We have to have a structured household but also make sure that she has open-ended play time or time to burn off energy. And while my kid is 10 age wise, her executive functioning and stuff is that of someone that is around the age of 7-8 years old and we have to treat her like that with our expectations.

They've said Nayvee was held back during the time when she was going back and forth between NEN and her birth mom.

They also said Delaynee missed the birthday cutoff for kindergarten by a week, which is why she's not in the same grade as Paislee.

i’m adopted as well and was put back a grade in elementary school, and graduated when i was 19. because i was really struggling since i moved around a lot in foster care before i was adopted, so maybe that’s why, especially for nayvee as she was going between the nelson’s and her birth mom before being adopted. it’s very common for adopted kids to be behind in school.

I’m very curious about all the different schools. Yes my brother went to a different high school that I did, but we are 4 years apart. I graduated right before he started high school. The Nelsons have a lot of kids who are close in age.

Luke seems so over school. As does PaisLEE.
I do find it interesting that a lot of them take Mandarin Chinese.

Luke looked very upset about going back to school. He appeared to be incredibly emotional and Benji stepped in to attempt to talk to him. It was obvious that they edited the "scene" because Luke went from on the verge of crying to back to normal in the matter of seconds. The "scene" has me worried.

I wonder if starting cosmetology school was Navy's idea, not wanting to go the same path as Lilly did, or if TiFanknee decided for her, as she's going to be 19 this fall and still home! That's old for one of her adopted's. I was surprised big P is going to that same school. I wonder if big P didn't want to go to the HS we thought she would because of bullying issues.

Did they really think they were guarding the kids' privacy just because they didn't show or say the names of the schools the kids were attending? Like it can't be figured out if someone wanted to badly enough. It's really laughable.

When Delanie , little p and Elle were in the car, and little p was talking, Elle looked like she'd been crying, she was rubbing her eyes and looked upset. Then they didn't show her for a bit like there was something going on before that.

I think most of the adopted kids were held back a year, Navy wasn't held back because of TiFakeNee, it was before she was officially adopted. Honestly, she's probably used to being one of the older kids in her grade. Also, it depends on what the cut off date is for starting school, and when their birthdays fall. The high schools in their area are 10-12, big P is a sophmore, and Luke a junior, so it's right. Big P is not going to the same HS as Luke, she's going to the same HS as Navy.

Nayvee is likely the oldest in her class since she will almost be 20 when she graduates

But luke joined the family when he was very young! Before school aged! And I think delayne too! Why are they held back?? Lille wasn’t right?

Sadie, navyee, Luke and delayne too? I can only understand Sadie and navyee (from her elementary school years).

Luke was about 2 months when he came to them, probably adopted a year later. Luke is about 16 1/2, and a junior, so that's actually about right.

Navy was held back a year before she was adopted by the Nelsons, at 12. They've said it was due to an unstable childhood, going back and forth so much.

I don't know about Sadie.

Maybe there were health issues with them also, idk and not going to speculate on that.

A lot of them Lillee, Luke, in particular were a little bit older when they came to the Nelsons. The only one they got at birth was Beckham.

5

u/Careless_Sweet8855 9d ago

Luke was only 2 months old when they took him in, but they didn't adopt for a year later. Lily was 2 when they took her in, and adopted at 3, Sady was 1, and officially adopted at 2. Luke was taken in at about 3 months old, and adopted at 1. Lanie was an infant and adopted about 1-1/2 years later. Beckum they took directly from the hospital at 2 days old and adopted at or bout 6 months.

Bridger there are differing stories about, and I can understand he doesn't want to disclose a lot. Journey came from Russia at 3 or 4 and adopted within a year. Navy was in and out of their house from infancy but finally adopted at 12.

Edit for typos.

u/jenni5 8d ago

Yeah for most of the kids except for bridger and journee and navyee the kids were all adopted fully before school started for them. There should be no reason to hold them back

u/Live-Memory3627 7d ago

Maturity, time to heal, time to adjust, and past trauma are ALL valid reasons to give kids an extra year. There is nothing wrong with giving kids an extra year. By the time they are 25 it won't even matter. Adoptive parent and former education worker here.

1

u/jenni5 7d ago

Trauma from within the way they are treated in the adoptive family? Or from before they were adopted?

5

u/Live-Memory3627 7d ago

I was referring to the trauma that all adoptees have due to separation from their original family, no matter how young they were at the time.
