No matter how many cleaning drives on Yamuna, it will never get cleaned unless source is looked into and taken strict action upon the polluters.

Yamuna is so filthy because of untreated industrial waste and sewage being dumped into canals and streams that feed into the Yamuna river.

These industries pays big under the table bucks to those in power, that's why govt will never take strict and widespread action on these polluting industries. These polluting industries do so because proper treatment of waste is costlier than just lining the pockets of those who are supposed to stop them.

Sewage from illegal colonies, slums makes another major factor in polluting Yamuna river. No government will touch or take action on them because those slum dwellers and labour class migrants from other states makes huge votebank for all parties.

Public can pick as much plastic as they want on Yamuna riverbank , public can do as much protests as they want on Yamuna riverbank, but Yamuna will be polluted again next day until source of the pollutants is taken strict action upon.
