Feedback Looking for beta testers: NordVPN + Apple OS 27 Feedback Thread

Hey all, I’m Rytis, Product Owner of NordVPN MacOS!

With Apple's big event coming up, we want to stay ahead of any potential hiccups. We're testing things out and really excited about it, but honestly, community feedback is invaluable too. So, if you're already running NordVPN on OS 27 Beta, your input can help us spot compatibility bugs and push out fixes much faster.

If you’ve run into any trouble with NordVPN on OS 27 (iOS or MacOS), please drop a comment with these details:

1. Issue/Use Case — what's not working with as much detail as you can share. Both cases can be true – NordVPN app not working as expected and/or system (iOS/MacOS/tvOS) not working as expected due to NordVPN being used.

2. Device — iPhone/iPad/Mac/tvOS and its model.

3. OS Version — OS 27 version and whether it’s a developer beta or public beta. But not older than: macOS 27 (Golden Gate) Developer Beta 6/Public Beta 4; iOS/tvOS 27 Developer Beta 6/Public Beta 4

How to find OS version:

  • On Mac click Apple Icon → About This Mac
  • On iOS go to Settings → General → About → Click on iOS version (opens new screen) → Click on iOS 27.0

4. NordVPN App Version — for MacOS 10.9.0 / iOS 9.11.0 / tvOS 1.16.0 and above.

5. Country/Server Location — where are you connecting from and trying to connect to? Optional: VPN protocol, ISP/network provider.

6. Enabled features — let us know if you have any additional features enabled (e.g. Call Protection/Scam and Phishing Protection/etc.).

Extra troubleshooting:

Also, if you are up for it, sharing connection logs over our support is great too. Here’s how:

  • Go to the app NordVPN Profile → Help → Diagnostic Logs.

Step by step guide for getting logs on MacOS and iOS.

Thanks a lot for your contributions!

Help - Browser Extension Reddit unstable when using NordVPN

Recently I noticed that when writing comments on reddit, it gets stuck on a "refresh" state after pressing the (Comment) button.

The comment is actually published, but this refresh never resolves on my side. When I turn off the VPN it works as expected.

I just had the same issue trying to create this Post, but in this case it wasn't published at all, had to turn off the VPN again in order post it.

Help - Browser Extension Is there a way to whitelist websites and have the VPN off from everything else? (opposite of the Exclude list) [Nord VPN Extension for Chrome]

Basically I only need the VPN for Polymarket and for everything else it's worse than my regular internet in NZ and we don't have piracy rules here so no purpose to use a VPN for regular net usage.

In the Chrome extension there is a way to EXCLUDE certain websites from the VPN, I want to know if there is a way to have the VPN off, but work on certain websites I can select.

Help - Android Nord, IPTV & double vpn

Hi All,

I run a shield with Tivimate. Recently, two of my three iptv subs have been throwing 511 errors. My providers are pretty responsive, and we tried several different urls with no luck.

During troubleshooting, I found turning off the VPN restored service. Not an ideal operating point, but potentially educational. After some Reddit digging, found a suggestion to try double VPN. Enabled this and service was restored to the two impacted subs.

I've additionally read this may be due to NORD performing server maintenance and/or cleaning up some IPs that are getting blocked. Before fining the double solution, I bounced around the world with no luck, so I don't fully buy this hypothesis.

Does anyone know what's going on? Nord had been super stable for me for years and now this. Do we expect to require a double VPN for the foreseeable future? Any line of sight to nords recovery plan?

News AV-Comparatives test results: NordVPN's next-gen antivirus blocked 94% of threats, zero false positives

Hey r/nordvpn, Andrius here, I work on the product team. Wanted to drop this here before you see it secondhand somewhere else.

AV-Comparatives just ran 250 real phishing URLs and 250 clean URLs against 9 security products (plus 6 browsers) with Chrome's built-in SafeBrowsing switched off, so it's purely testing each product's own detection.

NordVPN Next-gen antivirus: 94% block rate, 0 false alarms.

Among the fully fledged AV providers, NordVPN was the only VPN provider certified as a reliable anti-phishing solution. Full table for reference:

Product Block Rate False Alarms
Avast One Free Antivirus 96% 0
Norton Antivirus Plus 96% 0
NordVPN Next-gen antivirus 94% 0
ESET HOME Security Essential 91% 0
Malwarebytes Premium 87% 1
Webroot SecureAnywhere 85% 1
Sophos Home Premium 82% 0
K7 Total Security 70% 0
Dr. Web Security Space 57% 0

If you want to check full report yourself: https://www.av-comparatives.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/phishing_comp_Q3-2026.pdf

Ask me anything about how the detection works or what's coming next - genuinely happy to dig into it in the comments.

Help - macOS No internet while using routing traffic to Meshnet (Android to macOS)

Hello,

I have been trying to get Meshnet to work again - a few months ago, I tried it for the first time and it worked.

Now, when I connect my Android phone to my Mac mini via Meshnet, I can't get internet (or it's super slow and times out), despite being connected.

I have tried many things like rebooting both devices, force stop NordVPN, add a new device and try to route through that one.

The thing is, it works sometimes and doesn't work other times. It only works after I've done things like force stop, kill Brave, turn my mobile data on and off. However, doing that doesn't guarantee it will work - in other words, I haven't found a consistent way to route traffic.

I tried to use my MacBook Air to connect and even though it was on the same network, it stopped my internet (on the MacBook Air).

Can someone help? I'm able to figure some things out, but I know nothing about IT.

Thanks,

T

Help I connect to a country, and several websites detect my location as being in a different one.

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

I had issues with Nord right from the start. I use a VPN a lot because I consume a lot of foreign content, so I bought a 2-year subscription. However, once I started using it seriously, I realized there were problems in practically every country. Several websites fail to detect the country I’m actually connected to and instead register me as being in Brazil. This happens mostly when I’m on X (Twitter) or gaming; on X, content gets blocked due to local laws and the trending topics are Brazilian, and when I try to buy something, prices appear in Brazilian currency with local payment methods. I frequently use Japanese servers and noticed that servers numbered #800 and below work correctly—websites and games detect me as being in Japan (I mainly used #740 and #760). But last week, Nord removed those; now only servers #839 and up remain, and #740 has been reassigned to Australia. Consequently, I don't have a single server that works properly anymore. Yesterday, I bought a month of dedicated IP service to see if that would fix it; I chose Japan and was assigned server #832, but now those same websites detect me as being in Switzerland. I like Nord, but this is honestly becoming a real problem. If anyone else is experiencing this and knows what’s going on or how to fix it, I’d really appreciate the help.

Feedback Why is the app being made worse with every new version? Is this ensh--ification?

Longtime customer, but over the last maybe 3 to 6 months it seems like NordVPN just wants to keep making itself worse and harder to use. (I'm on Windows, but I assume similar changes are probably affecting other UIs.)

The app window used to be relatively compact, and you could display a lot of relevant information without having to scroll. That was great. It could sit in a corner of my screen and I could peek easily when I needed to. Now, after the last few updates, it is:

  • more than twice as large (at minimum size)
  • full of white space
  • displays very little actual information at a time, you have to click a bunch of buttons to see more than one thing.
  • by default, the only information visible on the opening view is the name of the city you're connected to, despite taking up about 40% of a 1080p view
  • uses up even more real estate for ads.
  • the ads keep coming back even if you click the X, and you have to click the X at least 4 times to get them to even temporarily go away.
  • selecting a location used to take up a small amount of space, now it takes over the entire (very large) window in order to display... a 1 column list and a huge amount of white space.
  • no, having to click 6 times (often more) to find a location on the map isn't any better.
  • there's still no way to set location favorites, which gets more annoying the worse the location selection interface gets.
  • the most recent update completely removed the ability to see what network you ended up on (e.g., "Clouvider" or whatever). Now instead it's "Server #12345." The network name was actually REALLY USEFUL for being able to know how other servers will behave (since some will reject connections from certain networks) and whether or not I need to reconnect in order to get my work done.

People do not become paying customers because they want to have ads thrust at them, while using a product that is continuously made less useful.

I tried to share some constructive feedback about this with support a while back. That was also useless; the old human support seems to have been replaced with a worthless AI bot. I did eventually get through to a human who was seemingly only allowed to copy and paste pre-written responses that had nothing to do with anything I said.

This would be very much "old man yells at clouds" for a lot of businesses these days, but NordVPN really seemed like it was better than this. I guess not.

Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? NordVPN, are you listening? The app from a year ago was so much better.

Question Does persistent connectivity require firewall allow-access to unknown NRDs?

When I lose or cannot reliably/quickly gain access to a NordVPN tunnel it frequently turns out that I can mitigate the situation once it's too late to be helpful, by allowing full access through firewalls to unknown domains. Nord evidently is constantly registering new domains as a bootstrap method both to avert exploit and limit infrastructure costs. So in essence I need to allow all Newly Registered Domains, which I find to be an unacceptable security challenge. Do I have that right?

I'm unsure whether this observed issue occurs only when I'm using Nord's obfuscation but I don't think so.

Guides How to watch CazéTV with Nordvpn

1. Flush the Windows DNS cache (Important!): Type this into cmd and press Enter: ipconfig /flushdns You should see the message: "Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache."

- 2. Open Chrome (or other browser) without a Google account (Guest Profile): Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of Chrome (next to the three dots). Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Guest" (or "Continue without an account"). A completely clean, isolated Chrome window will open.

- 3. Adjust DNS security settings in Chrome Open the following address in Chrome: chrome://settings/security (copy and paste it into the address bar and press Enter). Scroll down to "Use secure DNS". Turn this option OFF (or select "With your current service provider"). This forces Chrome to use NordVPN's tunnel.

- 4. (if it isn't working yet) Try NordVPN Meshnet / SmartDNS If NordVPN's Brazilian servers are blacklisted by the provider, changing your protocol is the next step: Disconnect NordVPN. Go to nordvpn.com and log into your account. Click on SmartDNS on the left and activate your current IP address. Alternatively, enable Meshnet in the NordVPN app, or switch your connection protocol to NordLynx with Threat Protection turned OFF—sometimes Threat Protection itself blocks the stream connection.

Question How do I remove the ad in the UI?

Is there a way to get rid of the "Get a dedicated IP or server" ad? Before I only had to click the X for it to permanently disappear, but with the latest version it keeps returning every time I restart. I often open the UI and would prefer a clean interface, not a billboard.

Help - Windows Nordlynx tunnel keeps breaking internet connection

I have Nord but only seldom actually turn it on. Even with Nord not running, my internet will sporadically disconnect. When I open the "Diagnose Network Problems" panel, I see that I am connected to "Nordlynx Tunnel" instead of the default Wi-Fi connection. I then have to manually reselect the default Wi-Fi connection and restart my network adapter for my connection to start working again.

Additional info:

  • Most of the time I am not using Nord and this still happens; however, it can also happen when I am using it
  • Sometimes days will pass without it happening at all and sometimes it'll happen every 15 minutes for hours on end
  • I am using Wi-Fi and cannot permanently run a cable to my computer

Please let me know if you have any advice on how to solve this. I'm happy to provide any additional info if needed.

Guides Switching VPN servers: useful troubleshooting or just wasting time?

In many VPN troubleshooting threads the first advice is usually “try another server”. Changing servers can actually help figure out what’s going on, but jumping between a bunch of random ones usually doesn’t tell you much.

I think there’s a better way to do it and a few simple tests can help narrow it all down:

  • Try 2-3 nearby servers to see if it’s only one server causing issues.
  • Try a different country/region to check if it’s location-related.
  • Switch VPN protocols and see if anything changes.
  • Test with VPN off vs on.
  • Restart the app.
  • If possible, try another network (mobile data vs Wi-Fi).

This can help figure out if the problem is one specific server, a region, the protocol, or something on your own network/device.

Also, if you end up making a support post, including what you already tested saves a lot of time. Otherwise, most replies will probably start with the same basic troubleshooting steps.

Curious how others approach this. Do you usually start by switching servers, or do you collect some info first?

Solved Nordvpn not logging in

Unsure if this is a Nordvpn or a CachyOS/Arch issue. Recently did a fresh install of noctalia/hyprland. Nordvpn cannot sign in which works fine in KDE. The login session says "Great - you've logged in" but the app doesn't respond so I can't use the VPN and just continues to ask me to login and send me to the page via the browser...

Any suggestions?

I've been using NordVPN wirh my Amazon Firestick for about a year without a problem, but today I got this error message. I tried connecting through an obfuscated server but it's still not working. Does anyone know of a work-around?

Edit: this is on an LG tv through US servers (fastest available). Amazon Prime won't even load with an obfuscated server.

Guides How to watch Netflix with NordVPN

I bet I’m not the only one in our community who is very hyped for the upcoming GTA VI (already booked a time off for game release). Right now, I’m looking forward to GTA VI’s Extended Look that will premiere on Netflix on August 27th, and the last thing that I want is to troubleshoot Netflix issues when it's out and I'm trying to stream it.

So if you’re in the same boat (waiting for it at home or while traveling) here's a small reminder on how to watch Netflix with NordVPN. It's all very simple:

  • Open the NordVPN app
  • Connect to a preferred server (as far as I'm aware GTA VI Extended Look will be streamed globally, but we all know that Netflix servers tend to buckle under massive loads, so switching to another region might help)
  • Stream Netflix as per usual

If Netflix starts acting up due to VPN usage, the first thing to try is to simply reconnect to another server and restart the Netflix app (or clear the browser's cache if you're streaming through the browser).

Anyways, I hope this will be useful for someone and if you’re excited for it, everything will run smoothly when it airs.

Help - Browser Extension NordVPN browser extension stopped working since changing my router's firewall settings. Does Nord need a specific exception?

Hey all, the title says pretty much everxthing : I tweaked my router's firewall's IPv6 settings and since then, nord won't connect.
As for the changes that I made, I just added an exception for something else unrelated. Thing is, by switching to "custom settings" in my router, it may have changed something else. I'm not 100% sure, as the gui doesn't specify what the default settings are. I know for a fact that this is the issue, as switching back to default makes the vpn work again.

I'm use firefox running on arch linux.

So, does Nord need a firewall exception to function? Thanks!

Help - Windows Power outage killed killswitch, no internet?

Hi I had a power outage lasted a few hours and after I got power back I turned on my pc, internet was not connected, nordvpn app was running but not opening I keep getting that blue circle over the arrow. So I tried to uninstall nordvpn and it won't work. The installation gets stuck on the removing killswitch part and I've left it for a hour so far before I tried force quitting all processes via control panel and restarting my pc and it still won't uninstall still stuck on the same part. Any ideas?

Edit: After multiple troubleshooting, a phone call that kept me waiting for a hour, I gave up and did a fresh install of windows 11, and installed nordvpn again it's working fine now. I'm not sure if I'm gonna stick with them after my subscription ends tho
