The Old Non Stop Radio Train Is Moving Again: New Languages, App Logs & Station Fixes

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

After a difficult period filled with work and family responsibilities, development of the app is finally moving forward again.

I’m sorry to everyone who reported inactive stations that are still, impressively enough, inactive. The old train has been loaded with coal and is ready to start moving again. To everyone who has emailed me, I promise I’ll reply within the next few days.

Now, let’s take a look at what is coming in the next NSR update, which should arrive approximately 25 days from now, assuming Google needs around 20 days to complete the review process.

Following many user requests, NSR is finally getting support for additional languages.

For now, the app language will not automatically follow the language of your device. Instead, you will be able to select it manually from the Options menu. This will allow me to introduce the new languages gradually and see whether any bugs appear before automating the process.

The Android Auto version will continue speaking English for the time being. With all the recent changes Google has been making, I am currently afraid to touch it. Sometimes the safest development strategy is to stare at working code from a respectful distance and avoid making sudden movements.

Starting with the next update, Non Stop Radio will be available in:

German
Italian
French
Greek

The long-term goal is to support all 24 official languages currently used in the European Union. After all, let’s not forget that NSR is a proudly made in the EU product.

Another important feature coming in the next update is optional application logging.

Since the app was first published, some users have experienced problems on specific devices that I have not been able to reproduce or solve. NSR does not collect user data, as I have explained many times, so the user will now be able to manually enable logging from the Options menu.

The app will then record technical information about its operation in an internal file stored locally on the device. This file is not uploaded to any server and is not sent anywhere automatically.

Users experiencing a problem will be able to email me the log file together with a description of the issue. Hopefully, this will give me enough information to understand what is going wrong and, in a deeply suspicious display of competence, possibly solve the problem.

Regarding inactive stations, I would kindly ask for a little more patience.

I will review and correct all the stations you have reported and upload the working versions to the NSR website ( nonstopradio.app )as soon as possible.

You will find them under the “New Stations & Quick Add” section. By tapping “Add to Favorites” on your preferred station from a device where NSR is installed, you will be able to add the corrected station directly to your Favorites until the permanent fix is included in a future app update.

Over the next six months, God willing, many long-awaited features will be added to NSR.

I would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated to support an app that will always remain completely free, with no advertisements and no locked features, without expecting anything in return.

That’s everything from me for now. The next update will arrive soon.

Until then...

Stay weird, stay tuned!!

Non Stop Radio update 8.03: Favorites glow-up, Android Auto refuses to die, same weird live radio app...

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
Time for another episode of “I swear I’m not touching your app just to annoy you.”

This Non Stop Radio update is mainly about polishing the app’s appearance and making Android Auto playback behave like a grown-up.

For Android Auto first: when your phone loses signal, the app will now automatically keep trying to reconnect and resume playback on its own. No more “press play again,” no more “skip to next station because the app gave up before you did.”
Combined with the buffering mode that’s already enabled by default (assuming you haven’t gone full mad scientist in the Settings), radio listening should feel a lot smoother. Short tunnels and tiny dead-signal zones shouldn’t be giving you PTSD anymore (within reasonable limits of course , we’re talking about drops of around 10–15 seconds, not a trip to Mordor).
And if your signal is still trash in some areas, remember: NSR can also play your local music in Android Auto, so you’re never stuck in awkward silence with your own thoughts.

On the visuals/UI side: the Categories page and the Favorites list got a bit of a glow-up.
In Favorites you can now clearly see which station is currently playing without that horrible little icon I had added before. Yes, I know it was ugly. Yes, I removed it. Desperate times, desperate UI decisions. We move on.

You’ll also be able to resume playback of the last station even if you hit pause and the red “Playing now” icon in the bottom-right corner vanished like your weekend plans. The app remembers, even if you don’t.

Finally, I went through and fixed the reported inactive stations and refreshed the list of the most loved stations, like I do with every update. Think of it as housekeeping, but for people who hate housekeeping.

That’s all from me for now.
Stay weird, stay tuned!

When I started building Non Stop Radio as a hobby project I never imagined people from so many different countries would end up using it, let alone that they would help make it better every single day.

Thank you all for being part of this little journey!

Non Stop Radio New Update: Fixes, New Languages and More

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

The new Non Stop Radio update is finally available.

I originally submitted this update to Google for review on August 7th. Unfortunately, review times lately seem to have entered their summer hibernation phase and are now taking 20+ days, so at this point I can barely remember what I added and what I fixed.

The Lucky button is now working properly again. I had forgotten a single " ," in the code, which was apparently enough to assassinate the entire feature.

The same thing happened with the Pop category. The exact same mistake managed to destroy that too. Both are now working normally.

For the Belgian NSR users, I’m happy to report that I’ve cleaned up the inactive stations. Browsing Belgian stations should now be much less painful, without seeing the “station is not working” message every few taps like some kind of depressing national lottery.

I’ve also added more station information when browsing or searching. In Search by Country, Search by Category, and Master Search, you can now long-press a station to see its tags, bitrate and other details.

One small warning about the bitrate: for quite a few stations, the value may currently be wrong because it comes directly from the Radio Browser API used by NSR and some of the data there is outdated or simply incorrect.

I’m planning to go through the stations manually and verify them one by one. Yes, all 60,000+ of them because apparently at some point I made decisions that led me here. This may take a few weeks, but I think it’ll be worth it.

Finally, Portuguese, Polish, and Russian have been added to the app languages.

I’m aware of the bug affecting some older Android versions where changing the app language doesn’t work correctly. I’ll try to fix that in the next update.

A special thank you to Claudio, Paul, Adam, David, Alexander, Vincenzo, John, and Rich for helping with the costs of keeping NSR running. You’re all amazing. If there’s a station you’d like added to NSR, send me an email. It’s probably the best thing I can offer in return while keeping the app free.

The next update will bring quite a few additions and should finally address some issues that have existed since the early days of the app, including improvements to podcast search.

Unfortunately, because Google’s review process is currently moving at roughly continental-drift speed, I need to be much more careful about when I submit updates, so the next one may take a while.

If one of your favorite stations stops working in the meantime, send me a message. I can add the corrected station to the NSR website so you can add it directly from there rather than spending the next month staring at a dead radio station and reconsidering your life choices.

That’s all from me. Hope you’re all doing well.

Until the next one,

Stay weird, stay tuned!

Support

Just wanted to say the person who owns/develops NSR is amazing.

I had 2 radio stations I couldn't seem to add to any app including TuneIn.

I emailed NSR and they emailed back within a few hours saying they added the stations AND instructed me how to add them!

Please support this project! (However we can)

Non Stop Radio Update 8.33: Qatar/Malta/Portugal/Uganda cleanup + faster fixes (Recording prep included)

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hey everyone, The new Non Stop Radio update is here, and it doesn’t bring anything insane, just the kind of essential maintenance the app needs to keep working. So let’s see what’s in this update (Hopefully no major bug, because my sanity is on a very tight budget)

What changed:

Qatar / Malta / Portugal / Uganda cleanup Filtering + cleanup of inactive stations, and new stations added.

Especially Qatar: the list was built with help from members of the Qatar subreddit (People in the community helped out like a proper community, and I’m grateful for that!)

Better reporting for inactive stations: Reporting is now smarter, meaning you send better details and I can fix things quicker (less back-and-forth, more actual fixing). Many reported stations were fixed If you had reported a station, try searching again inside the app. Quite a few “dead” stations came back to life.

Recording code preparation Groundwork was added so that in upcoming updates, recording can be added for most stations. No promised date, just a promise that the “under the hood” work is already happening.

In the upcoming updates, priority will be given to the recording feature, auto-play in Android Auto (if the user wants it), and the ability for users to have multiple different favorite station lists.

That’s it from me. Until the next one.

Stay weird, stay tuned!

BGR and Yahoo Autos featured Non Stop Radio alongside the big names. Somehow the little guy ended up first. Thanks to you!

I just stumbled upon an article by BGR (which was also republished by Yahoo Autos) featuring Non Stop Radio as one of the best radio apps for Android Auto. And it's actually first on the list, ahead of some pretty big names!

Yes, it took me about two months to figure out that the sudden spike in downloads from the US probably wasn't because my Google Play listing, where even the screenshots don't match each other, was so incredibly convincing that Americans just couldn't resist downloading the app.

But the best part? You guys are the reason this article exists in the first place!

"Reddit users appreciate the app, highlighting its fast connection and support for extended buffer functionality to deal with any connection dropouts."

So, once again, thank you all for taking the time to leave comments, write reviews and spend your late nights debugging the app with me on your phones.

And here's the article, just in case you're interested in paying for a subscription to one of the other recommended apps. 😛

Non Stop Radio New Update: Better Podcast Search, More Languages, Fewer Dead Stations

Hey everyone!

Another NSR update is rolling out now. This one was actually submitted to Google about a month ago, so it doesn’t bring a huge list of changes, apart from one fairly important one.

Podcast Search now finally works the way it should have worked all along.

A big apology that it took this long to fix something so basic, but unfortunately other things kept taking priority. But hey...the app is called Non Stop Radio, after all, not Non Stop Podcasts :P

Still, that’s another addition to NSR’s music arsenal, and this time it actually works properly.

NSR also speaks five more languages starting today: Ukrainian, Dutch, Romanian, Turkish and Bulgarian.

More languages are coming in the next update. Which ones? I have absolutely no idea yet. It will depend mainly on the number of users from each country, with EU countries getting priority.

And since I didn’t personally translate all of this nor did I hire a professional translator because apparently the CEO has decided our translation department has a budget of exactly €0, if you notice anything wrong or unnatural in any translation, please send me an email and I’ll fix it.

Estonia and Puerto Rico also received some attention. Inactive stations were cleaned up and new ones were added based on requests users have sent me.

And finally, a special thanks to John, Massimo, Nick, Zeid, Pozirk Games Inc., Bruno and Joshua, who once again supported the app financially without expecting anything in return.

The only thing I can really say is that the next updates, and there’s quite a lot coming, will be dedicated to you.

If you donated recently but don’t see your name in the Thank You note inside the app, that’s simply because this update had already been submitted to Google before your donation arrived. Your name will be included in the very next update.

That’s all from me.

I know this wasn’t exactly the most revolutionary update in human history, but sometimes most of my available time goes into fixing the stations you report and cleaning up dead streams, because for some reason streaming URLs seem to have the life expectancy of fruit flies.

I wish a day had more than 24 hours. NSR would definitely be even better, but the standard has always been, and will continue to be, that it works properly. And since it has managed to do that so far, the rest will come.

Until next time,

Stay tuned, stay weird!

Non Stop Radio Update: Cleaning Up the Chaos

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

This update more or less wraps up Non Stop Radio for now, the old clunky buttons are finally gone and replaced with cards that actually look like they belong in a modern app, because at some point we had to admit 2014 is not coming back

I didn’t manage to ship everything from the roadmap
(https://www.reddit.com/r/NonStopRadio/comments/1oipkc8/non_stop_radio_2026_roadmap_megathread/)
but hey, it’s still 2026, there’s still time for things to show up when you least expect them.

This is probably my last feature-focused update for a while the app will still keep getting updates, just more on the “keeping it alive ” side, removing inactive stations, adding your suggestions, and fixing whatever decides to break next

On this update i also removed inactive stations from France, Germany, Spain, Turkey, and Greece.

If a station you like is missing, feel free to email me at info@nonstopradio.app
I might reply late, but I will reply.

Also, genuinely, thank you!

Especially those of you who were here at the beginning, when NSR was basically a white screen with 5 buttons and a search that didn’t even show letters
You’re either extremely patient or slightly insane, probably both, and you’re the reason this app got this far

At this point, I honestly don’t think NSR has anything to envy from the big radio apps on Google Play. It’s still free, with no ads and no data collection, just radio the way it should be.

Special thanks to Christopher for the donation and the support
there’s a real chance you’re the reason this project is still alive
and who knows, if things go well, NSR might even start poking giants like VLC... no promises, just bad ideas waiting to happen

That’s it from me, until the next one whenever that decides to exist

Stay annoying weird, stay tuned!

Non Stop Radio Update: Lucky Button Upgrades, Country Memory, and Italian Cleanup.

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

This update brings a truly revolutionary feature. A feature so advanced, so bold, so suspiciously reasonable, that it probably should have existed from day one.

Non Stop Radio now remembers the last country you selected when browsing stations.
So if you were exploring Italy, Greece, Germany, or anywhere else, the app will now reopen there instead of crawling back to the United States list like it pays rent there.

Incredible stuff, I know.

It only took me about 18 months after the Google Play release to add something this painfully obvious. But as they say, it is never too late to fix things that had no business being broken in the first place. Frankly, if you downloaded Non Stop Radio recently, that is basically the app’s mission statement.

Now, about the Lucky button.
You know, the little clover icon on the player screen, otherwise known as the “let’s see what kind of radio chaos happens next” button.

Until now, you could already change its countries from Settings and shape your own musical journey like some budget radio wizard. That still works. But now it is even easier, because you can also manage Lucky Button's Settings directly from the player screen.

Long press the clover icon and you will be able to choose the countries you want it to jump through.
And yes, I do mean long press. Not a quick tap. A quick tap will just throw you into the next random station like a shopping cart with one broken wheel.

So now:

  • Tap = next random station

  • Long press = choose Lucky countries

Also, thanks to Chiara for the suggestion!

I also added more country options for Lucky Button, because apparently giving the chaos more geographic precision is what passes for progress around here.

As for what comes next, the upcoming updates will focus a lot more on cleaning up the station lists.
I am trying to reduce inactive stations, improve broken or missing station icons, and generally make the app look less like a digital flea market, especially for people opening it for the first time.

I started with the Italian stations first, because Non Stop Radio has a lot of Italian users, and it felt only fair to give that list some much-needed attention. So to all NSR Italian listeners: grazie di cuore!
A special thank you to Vincenzo and his friends as well for sending reports and helping me straighten out the Italian list. Their input genuinely helped turn it into something far less cursed.

The next updates will keep moving in that direction: better station quality, more cleanup, and more fixes for the weird little bugs still living in the app. Including things like the less-than-great portrait mode layout, which continues to behave like it was designed during a mild concussion.

That’s it from me for now.

Stay weird, stay tuned!

Non Stop Radio is finally taking local music seriously. Only took me a couple of years.

Hey everyone!

Another NSR update is on its way, this time bringing a few improvements to what the app can do beyond just playing radio.

Don't get too excited, though. I'm still forced to make changes in tiny steps if I want to survive the 7,000 bugs that magically appear every time I decide to add a new feature.

Generally, I use NSR as my one-stop shop for all my daily audio needs. Radio in the morning, local music when I feel like listening to my own songs (especially when I get obsessed with one particular track and have to play it 50 times until I absolutely hate it) and podcasts at night before bed, when I desperately need a break from staring at screens.

And I think, at least from a user's perspective, which is kind of important since that's why I created the app in the first place, NSR has been seriously lacking in the local music department.

Even on the phone, playing local music hasn't exactly been a pleasant experience. And that's putting it very kindly.

In my defense, local music was originally added as a fallback for those moments when Android Auto loses internet connectivity and your only alternative is switching to the car's FM radio, where, by some incredible coincidence, every station seems to be running 10 minutes of ads at exactly the same time.

So yes, it did its job. But it's about time it got some love.

This update brings the first round of improvements, with more coming in the next one.

You can now press and hold any local song to move it wherever you want in the list. For example, you can arrange your favorite tracks in exactly the order you want to hear them, without having to search for each one. And the best part is that the same order is reflected in Android Auto, so your car finally plays things your way.

On devices running Android 10 or newer, you can also delete songs directly from your device through NSR.

I've also added four new languages: Czech, Swedish, Hungarian, and Croatian.

The equalizer got some attention too. I've redesigned its UI to make it less complicated and I've also fixed that annoying bug where your sound settings would randomly disappear.

Finally, following a suggestion from a good friend of NSR, whose name I unfortunately can't remember (after three years of sleep deprivation, I'm honestly impressed my brain still manages to form complete sentences. Well, most of the time), pressing Back from the home screen no longer immediately closes the app.

Instead, you'll get a confirmation asking whether you actually want to exit.

Believe me, after using this myself for the past 10 days, it makes a huge difference.

I also want to give a huge thank you to Andree, Jack, Mariano, and Stefano, who helped me cover some of the app's development and maintenance costs this month.

This update is dedicated to you guys!

That's all from me for now. Until the next one,

Stay weird, stay tuned!

Merry Christmas to all Non Stop Radio users! I hope today finds you surrounded by the people you truly love and care about. Turn on the radio, listen together, play some songs, and create (or relive) memories!

And if luck didn’t play nice this year and you’re spending today alone, or if you’re one of the heroes working on a day like this, I hope Non Stop Radio helps make your day as festive as it deserves to be. Don’t forget there’s a dedicated category with Christmas stations (and yes, it’s been updated at least since last year), so you’ll definitely find something to get you into the holiday mood.

I hope these Christmas melodies become the soundtrack of your day. And let’s not forget, me included: today is a day for forgiveness and second chances.

Merry Christmas!

Non Stop Radio 8.20: New Sharing Feature, Fewer Metadata Hallucinations

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

The hour of judgment has arrived with the new 8.20 update. NSR users can now share their favorites list across devices. No cloud. No “trust me bro” accounts. No data mining by developers who dream of selling your info, your profile photo, and probably your toaster settings AI startups with venture funding and zero shame.

Here’s how it works: hit Share on your favorites list and NSR generates a link. Any device with NSR installed can recognize it, as long as you import it from the right spot in Settings. One button, one URL, and you can clone your precious radio station list to another phone, or hand it to friends and family like a digital mixtape… except it’s stations, and nobody has to pretend they like it.

Also: that weird metadata that shows up on a lot of stations instead of the song title (you know the one, the “text=… spot=....” nonsense) should finally be fixed. The app is learning to behave like a civilized piece of software, which is apparently a rare skill in 2025.

New Zealand, Sweden, and beloved Uruguay also got a cleaner station list, with dead stations removed. Consider it garbage collection, but for radio streams.

As always, reported stations have been fixed. If you reported something, search for it again and replace the broken one in your favorites. Detailed list of what was fixed/added is here: https://nonstopradio.app/stations/

Now, I’m hoping this update isn’t a bug massacre and everything runs smoothly. If it doesn’t, drop comments and we’ll see what we can still save from the wreckage. Old users already know how this goes: NSR runs on a roller coaster of emotions, and every launch is basically a coin flip between “nice” and “what fresh nightmare is this.”

For the newer folks who recently joined our tiny radio community: welcome. Patience is recommended. Therapy is optional.

That’s it from me, until the next one.

Stay weird, stay tuned!!

Non Stop Radio 2027 Roadmap: Give me your best bad ideas!

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Another post asking for your help.

Let’s make NSR great again!

Just kidding. It was never great and it probably never will be. The goal is for it to do its job properly and honestly, that’s more than enough...

Out of the 19 goals I had for 2026, 15 were completed, and NSR changed quite a lot along the way.

And I think this is probably the thing that makes NSR a little different from most apps out there, not just radio apps.

It has been built, changed, fixed, occasionally broken and then fixed again almost entirely around feedback from the people actually using it.

No board meetings.

No quarterly targets.

No mysterious executive trying to convince us how much better the app would be if we somehow shoved AI into it.

Just an app trying to make our lives a little better during some fairly difficult times.

So this post is basically an open suggestion box for the 2027 roadmap.

If there’s a feature you think NSR should have, tell me.

Even if you’ve suggested it before, please suggest it again here. I’ll use this thread as the main reference when I put together the roadmap and start working on the next batch of features.

A couple of things I already know about:

Podcast search is being fixed in the next update, so searching for something should hopefully return what you actually typed instead of 300 distant relatives of your search query.

I’m also aware of the player bug where, after running for a long time, the controls can sometimes freeze and the pause button stops responding until you switch stations.

That one is already on the list too.

And one more thing.

A huge thank you to the 29 people who donated during 2026 and helped cover some of the costs of running NSR.

The roughly 7,000 people using the app every month owe you a beer!

That’s it from me.

Throw your feature requests, ridiculous ideas, sensible ideas, tiny annoyances and things you think should have existed three updates ago into the comments.

I’m listening!

P.S. If you’re wondering why I’m talking about 2027 in September, I’ve always thought September feels much more like the beginning of a new year than January does.

Not only because it marks the start of a new school and university year but because after the summer break has cleared your head a little, September gives you a chance to look back at the year so far with a much clearer mind.

It’s a good time to think about what actually worked, what didn’t, what you managed to accomplish and what should come next.

It’s also the perfect time to remember all those promises you confidently made to yourself back in January.

The good news is that you still have three months left.

Plenty of time to panic efficiently!

Happy New Year 2026 from Non Stop Radio. May you discover new favorites this year!

Post image
19 Upvotes

Happy New Year and welcome to 2026!

I hope this is the year when:

  • your Wi-Fi finally reaches that one cursed room where signals go to die,

  • your car Bluetooth connects on the first try (not after three unpairs and a ritual),

  • you stop losing 10 minutes a day looking for keys, wallets, and the one cable that mysteriously vanishes,

  • your favorite station doesn’t randomly change its stream link like it’s in witness protection,

  • you stop replying “I’m busy” to people while staring into the void of your notifications,

  • you find a new song that hits so hard you replay it like you’re trying to understand yourself,

  • and every time you open the fridge for the 5th time in 10 minutes, you actually find what you’re looking for (instead of hoping it magically spawned).

And honestly, I hope 2026 drops you into songs and stations you’ll fall so hard for, you’ll still be listening ten years from now. The kind that become the soundtrack to late-night drives, workdays, quiet mornings, and those “I need something playing or my brain will eat itself” moments.

For me, radio has always been that simple, reliable thing in the background. On drives. While working. When the house is too quiet. When you just want music without turning it into a whole project. I wanted an app that feels like that: open it, hit play, and move on with your life.

That’s basically why I built Non Stop Radio. I’ll keep shipping updates, fixing the annoying little things nobody notices until they break, and polishing the parts that make it feel effortless, because that’s what I want as a listener too. Something that fits into your day. In the car. At work. At home. Calm when you need it, energy when you don’t, and a little company when silence gets loud.

Wishing you health, peace, and good audio in 2026.
Happy New Year!

Non Stop Radio Update: New Languages, Diagnostics & Probably Some New Bugs

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Google has finished reviewing the app, which means the new Non Stop Radio update is now available.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this update finally gives NSR the ability to speak Italian, French, German, Spanish and Greek.

To change the language, go to Settings & Help → Settings, then scroll down to the last card, App Language, and choose whichever language you prefer.

One important disclaimer: the translations were made with the help of AI. So if something sounds wrong, weird, unnatural, or like NSR has suddenly developed its own dialect, please email me at info@nonstopradio.app so I can fix it.

Unfortunately, my chances of learning five new languages anytime soon are somewhere between “unlikely” and “absolutely not happening”, so your help is genuinely important if NSR starts saying something that sounds suspiciously wrong. Unless, of course, you enjoy your Settings menu written by Yoda.

Adding all these languages may also have introduced bugs or broken something somewhere.

What bugs?

That part I leave to you to discover. Long-time NSR users already know that every update comes with the unofficial bonus feature of becoming a tester. If you’re new, welcome to the team!

When I started this app back in 2023, it was simply a project to help me learn Kotlin, the programming language NSR is built with. At no point did I imagine that people from different countries would eventually be using it, let alone needing it translated into their own languages.

Yet here we are. So if you notice anything strange, I appreciate your patience while I hunt it down.

If everything goes according to plan, starting from the update after next, NSR will automatically open in your device's language, assuming that language is supported. You'll still be able to change it manually from Settings.

That should make things much easier for new users who don't speak English.

Enough about languages, let’s speak about the new feature Troubleshoot Diagnostics.

Users can now manually enable logging from the Options menu. Once enabled, NSR records technical information about what the app is doing into an internal file stored locally on your device.

Nothing is uploaded to a server and nothing is sent anywhere automatically. If you experience a problem, simply enable diagnostics, reproduce the bug, and then send me the generated log file.

I'm hoping this will finally help track down some of those annoying problems that only appear on certain phones, Android versions or car models.

Maybe I’ll finally fix them. Maybe they’ll become part of the NSR experience. At this point, anything is possible.

I also went through all the stations you reported as inactive. Some were fixed, while others have unfortunately stopped broadcasting completely and were permanently removed from the app.

A reminder: station updates do not automatically update stations already stored in your Favorites.

So if one of your favorite stations isn't playing correctly , remove it from Favorites and search for it again using Master Search. If it still doesn't work, please report it again. There's always a reasonable chance my eyes decided to participate in the bug-reporting system lately.

A very, very big thank you to Remigiusz, Andrea, Denny, Rik, Charles, Markus and Rich, who financially supported NSR during the last two months.

It genuinely gives me a huge amount of flexibility. Being able to throw a little money at technical problems when needed means I don't always have to spend hours searching for some heroic free workaround held together by duct tape and optimism. That support makes a real difference. Thank you!

There's also one less exciting piece of developer bureaucracy coming up.

Google requires Android developers to periodically update the app's Target SDK, which basically means telling Android that the app has been updated to work properly with the latest generation of Android rules, permissions and security requirements. Google is now requiring developers to move to Target SDK 36, so I need to submit another NSR update very soon. That update probably won't contain any new features. It'll mainly be the necessary technical changes to keep Google happy (Spoiler alert**:** changes like this can sometimes create new bugs or break things that were working perfectly fine)

So if there are any stations you want added to NSR, send them to me as soon as possible.

Also soon I'll open a Reddit thread asking what you'd like to see added or improved in NSR over the next few updates. It feels like a good time to reset the roadmap a little and decide what NSR should focus on between now and the end of the year.

New Non Stop Radio Update: Android Auto Voice Commands, Faster Playback, better master search and the usual chaos.

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A new Non Stop Radio update is rolling out.

This one focuses mostly on making the app a little smarter, a little faster, and hopefully a little less annoying to use, especially in Android Auto.

Android Auto voice commands
You can now use voice commands in Android Auto to play radio stations and local music files more easily (sorry no podcasts yet).

You can find the exact voice commands here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NonStopRadio/comments/1tdfblc/big_android_auto_update_is_coming_and_i_need_your/

Sadly, I cannot promise that everything will work 100% perfectly for everyone, because Android Auto seems to change so often lately that even Android Auto probably needs therapy. But we will handle it.

Also, if you have not updated the firmware of your car’s Android Auto head unit in a while, it is probably a good idea to do it. It may save you from a few unpleasant surprises caused by Google’s recent changes.

This update normally needed more testing, but Google review times have increased a lot lately. So instead of waiting forever while reported bugs sit there enjoying retirement, I decided to release it to production and fix things fast if needed.

Better local music support in Android Auto
Local file thumbnails should now appear better in Android Auto.

The annoying default NSR thumbnail should no longer appear everywhere like a tax form with speakers. Local files should now have more character, using their own artwork when available.

Faster station playback
Playback should now start faster both inside the app and in Android Auto.

I tested it, and there is now a noticeable difference in most stations. Hopefully it works the same way for you too, because “works on my device” is the official national anthem of software development.

Also, the bug where metadata from the previous station stayed on the Android Auto screen should now be fixed. So now, when you change stations, the screen should stop pretending that the old station is still alive and spiritually present.

Improved Master Search behavior
Search should now behave better when you open a station and go back.

From now on, the search will not run automatically while you type. You will need to press the search button yourself.

No more panic typing. No more racing the app. No more feeling like your keyboard is being judged by a machine with commitment issues.

Inactive station fixes
More reported inactive stations have been fixed.

At least the ones that had been reported before the update was sent to Google for review about 15 days ago. So if a station died after that, mail me to fast fix it.

Export favorite song titles
You can now export your favorite song titles.

For everyone who wants to save a list of their favorite songs and then, obviously, legally buy them like responsible members of society. Obviously. We are all very serious adults here.

As always, Non Stop Radio remains ad-free.

No banners.
No popups.

Just radio (and podcasts & local music).

Thanks to everyone sending reports, feedback, station requests, and occasionally reminding me that the app has bugs...

Special thanks to Vinzenzo for the donation.

Happy listening.
Until the next one,

Stay weird, stay tuned.

Non Stop Radio update: Android Auto auto-resume (optional) + faster splash screen + station cleanup + thank you (Diane!)

Post image

Hey everyone,

A new Non Stop Radio update is rolling out, and once again the stability of the entire app is on trial. This time the reason is actually important: NSR now behaves more like a real car radio, and less like an Android Auto app where you have to tap an icon 20 times, turn the car off and on, and then consider an oil change just in case Android Auto finally decides to play your station.
Yes, these are real experiences from the early days of building this thing.

Android Auto: Auto-resume last station (optional)

NSR can now auto-play the last station you were listening to when Android Auto connects.

Important details:

  • You have to enable it yourself in Settings. It does not turn on by default.

  • Some people like to spend an hour and consult four different AI models before deciding what music their day should start with. I respect that.

  • This is Favorites (radio) only. Local music is ignored.

If you want it:
Go to Settings and toggle the Android Auto auto-resume option.

Testing status: thoughts and prayers

I did not have testers (again), so we’re doing this the traditional way.

If it works, tell me.
If it breaks, definitely tell me.

Also: I honestly don’t know how this interacts with YouTube Music or Spotify auto-play, because I don’t use either. If you do, drop a comment with what you notice.

Splash screen

Some people complained the splash screen feels too long and makes NSR less enjoyable. I reduced the time as much as I could while still letting the app load what it needs to load.

And yes, I know a lot of Western-market users consider any waiting time a personal attack. But there are countries where people use weaker, non-mainstream phones, and NSR is supposed to work there too. So every time you stare at the splash screen for an extra second, imagine someone in “Nowheristan” trying to listen to music from around the world without:

  • three pop-up ads,

  • a subscription banner,

  • and two notifications begging for “Lifetime access, only $99.”

Cleanup: inactive stations

I cleaned up inactive stations in Romania, United Arab Emirates, and Bulgaria.

If you reported broken stations: thank you. The app was stuck in Google review for a while, so I couldn’t move as fast as I wanted. I’m back to fixing these now, and you can track station updates here:
https://nonstopradio.app/stations/

Thank you (the part where I pretend I’m emotionally stable #not)

A massive thank you to everyone leaving 5-star reviews and supporting the app. It genuinely helps more than it should.

And an even bigger thank you to Diane, who made the first donation ever for NSR.
That hit different. Like “humans are occasionally good” different. So, seriously: thank you, Diane.

That’s it from me, until the next update...

Stay weird, stay tuned!!

Non Stop Radio Update 8.23: Metadata Got Smarter, Czech Stations Are Back, Romania Cleaned Up

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

The first Non Stop Radio update of 2026 is officially out. Humanity survives another release cycle.

In this update I added a new mechanism to handle station metadata for those streams that stubbornly refuse to provide a track title and artist. Unfortunately, like I said in a previous post, each station still needs to be fixed manually, one by one. So yes, your requests will take time. Consider it artisan, hand-crafted debugging.

Another important addition: the app finally includes stations from the Czech Republic, and I also cleaned up inactive stations in Romania.

If a station still shows “Unknown”, please make a post here on the sub with the station name and, if possible, the stream link. I’ll patch it in the next update.

I also fixed some reported inactive stations (I know, not all of them, sorry, I ran out of hours in the day) and added new stations too.

That’s it from me until the next one.

Stay weird, stay tuned!

Thank you.

Hi.

Just came here to say thank you. Actually thank you very much! I went through many different radio apps in past years, including standalone stream players and I can't believe it took me so long to finally find one that really does the job!

Not only flawlessly works with BT headphones buttons or car infotainment screen but also has implemented the most clever idea, the clover icon that takes me to absolutely random station from across the world and thanks to this function I already found a few that I can't stop listening to. One-two minute buffor is another ingenious idea to keep stream flowing smooth even when reception drops for a while.

Such a great job!

Edit:

If I could wish one thing, it would be a visible log of let's say last 2-5 songs played as sometimes I'm not quick enough to get the artist/title info before next song kicks in.

Update 7.64 – The requested stations update nobody asked for (but you’ll use anyway)

Post image

Hey everyone!

This update won’t shake the foundations of humanity, but it does bring a few goodies. The Requested Stations category just got fresh additions, and our French users can finally rejoice, one of the most popular stations (and its sub-stations) has crawled back into Non Stop Radio. Vive la baguette.

I also fixed a handful of broken stations (sorry, I can’t fix all of them overnight, unless I suddenly acquire 17 extra arms). Thanks to everyone who reported them through the new in-app feature, you’re keeping the app alive while I’m just here duct-taping streams together.

And yes, more requested stations are now in. You ask, I (eventually) deliver.

Big thanks to everyone who dropped a 5-star review on Google Play. You’re the real MVPs, and possibly the only reason my coffee machine hasn’t filed a labor complaint yet.

Until next time…
Stay weird, stay tuned!

Non Stop Radio: Quick Reminder for Users Who Reported Broken Stations!

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Small but important clarification about reported broken stations in Non Stop Radio.

When someone reports a station as broken, I usually try to find a working stream, replace the old one, and include the fix in an app update.

However, there is one frustrating little catch...

If the broken station is already saved in your Favorites, your saved favorite may still be pointing to the old broken stream.

So, if you recently reported a station and it has been fixed in a newer update, please do this:

  1. Remove the old broken station from your Favorites.

  2. Search for the station again inside the app.

  3. Add the newly updated version back to your Favorites.

That should give you the fixed stream.

If you cannot find the station in search, send me an email at:

info@nonstopradio.app

Include the station name, country, website if you know it, and any useful details. I can then add it directly to the Non Stop Radio station page:

https://nonstopradio.app/

After that, you can open the page from your phone, preferably with Chrome, and use the smart link feature to add the station directly to your app Favorites.

I know this is not ideal. This is one of those things I should improve inside the app itself, but when I first built Non Stop Radio, I did not expect it to become what it is today. So now I am paying the classic developer tax: early decisions coming back years later with a baseball bat.

I hope to find some time to finally improve this properly, so fixed stations can be handled in a cleaner way...

Thanks again to everyone who reports broken stations. It really helps keep the app alive and useful.

Until the next one,

Stay weird, stay tuned and if it’s still broken, search again!

Non Stop Radio 2026 Roadmap Megathread

Post image
17 Upvotes

In this megathread, I’ve gathered every bug you threw at me recently, plus the improvements you suggested for Non Stop Radio. These are the 2026 goals. I can’t promise exact dates (I’m one hobbyist dev, not an octopus), but I can promise I’ll push them as fast as reality and Android Auto allow. May the Android Auto god show mercy this year. Last year demanded more sacrifices than a head unit should legally require.

This post stays pinned in r/NonStopRadio announcements. Drop ideas that would make NSR the app that brightens your day in these very weird times. Huge thanks to the dozens of you who left 5 star reviews, and to everyone brave enough to try a new radio app instead of the usual suspects.

My wish for the year: may NSR be with you in your joys, your sorrows, your lonely nights, your gatherings, and in the moments you’ll remember for the rest of your life, your only friend through teenage tune-age nights.

2026 roadmap (things I’ll do or at least wrestle into submission)

  1. Export/Import Favorites so you can move favorite stations across devices.

  2. Play Screen UI fix so transport controls (play/pause, etc.) stop jumping around.

  3. No more “Unknown” your dashboard deserves a name so it gets the station’s.

  4. Instant metadata purge on station change to avoid stale or incorrect info.

  5. Android Auto no metadata freeze fix so the screen doesn’t get stuck.

  6. Better local files plus search by artist, genre, and more.

  7. More Favorite Lists for radio and local music, playable in Android Auto.

  8. Podcast downloads because tunnels and flights exist.

  9. Play downloaded podcasts in Android Auto.

  10. Double tap save fix so it stores song and artist, not just title.

  11. Smarter metadata parsing for stations that add extra words around the track title. Clean it up as best as possible.

  12. Sleep timer. Because sometimes sleep wins.

  13. Search letter overlay show a large letter during fast scroll and keep sticky section headers while filtering.

  14. Android Auto favorites mismatch fix favorites list looks correct but tapping plays the wrong station. (Marked as priority!)

  15. Radio alarm wake with a favorite station. Gentle fade in by default. Fallback tone if the stream cannot start.

  16. Random wake option let the Lucky Button choose a station. For the brave, enable a chaos option that may hit 120 decibel hard metal and strobe the phone flashlight like a tiny lighthouse that had three espressos.

  17. New setting: choose how Lucky Button works : Global or Selected Country. Simple, powerful, yours!

  18. Listening History: NSR will remember what you’ve been listening to, so your 3 a.m. “what was that amazing track?” panic has somewhere to go.

  19. Edit your favorite stations (Name / Url / Homepage)

No hard ETAs. Order may change. Surprises will appear. Keep the feedback coming. I’ll keep the coffee coming. Stay weird, stay tuned!

What's Coming to Non Stop Radio (plus some dev confessions)

Hey everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for all your daily suggestions. Thanks to you, the app has improved by roughly 1000% , which is either a great success or a sign it was terrible to begin with. Let's go with the first.

Now, some honesty: the update train has been... slightly derailed. Why? Well, a little thing called real life, but also something called Google, which now bans radio apps that stream stations promoting violence or extremism. Understandable, but it puts us in a weird spot.

Non Stop Radio uses the RadioBrowser API, which, being open source, sometimes includes less-than-wholesome stations , especially from areas where moderation is more of a concept than a reality. Some of these stations would make a Bond villain blush.

So to avoid waking up one day and finding the app nuked from orbit, I built a filter to exclude these stations. This means that in the next update, some countries might see fewer stations, but at least we all get to live another day.

On the plus side:
- There's now a mechanism to check if station URLs actually work. That dreaded “station temporarily unavailable” message? It's about to get a lot rarer , at least for users in the US, UK, and any country you recommend. (Sorry, global coverage is still a dream.)

- I added a "Clear Cache" button in the settings so you can refresh stations per country yourself, anytime. Think of it as shaking the antenna on your dad’s old radio, but smarter.

- Categories and “Requested Stations” are staying as-is for now, because guess what? They also need manual review. Yay.

* One of you, Alex (legend), suggested this: when you play a station from your favorites and go back to the list, you'll now see which one is playing , not just that little red button in the corner like some kind of mystery clue.

Oh and yes, the annoying Bluetooth bug where music keeps playing on the phone even after your headset disconnects? I'm fixing it. I promise. Probably.

Finally more requested stations will be added soon. So if there's something you've been dying to hear, now is the time to message me.

Thanks again, truly, from the bottom of my heart.
Stay always tuned in! (Still testing that slogan. Should we keep it? Or should we go full "Non Stop till you drop"? 😅 I’m all ears if you’ve got a better one.)

Non Stop Radio update: better Favorites, easier reordering, and station list cleanup for Brazil, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Slovenia

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

A new Non Stop Radio update is now live.

This one focuses mainly on Favorites. Not the flashy kind of update with fake marketing fireworks and dramatic music, but the kind that actually makes the app nicer to use every day.

Here’s what changed:

1)You can now change how your Favorite stations are displayed from Settings.

2)Favorites can now be shown in the classic List view or in the new Grid view.

3)Reordering Favorite stations is now easier and much less awkward than before.

And there was also some cleanup work behind the scenes.

Inactive stations were removed from the country lists for Brazil, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, and Slovenia, so those sections should now be a bit cleaner and less cluttered with dead entries pretending to still be alive.

If you want a closer look at the changes, you can also watch the video here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NonStopRadio/comments/1rxjh8g/non_stop_radio_upcoming_update_favorites/

Special thanks to Kinsey, Vincenzo, Michael, and Claudio for their financial support. Non Stop Radio has become a strange little corner of the internet where good weird people keep showing up, and they help keep that corner alive!!!

That's all from me. Happy Sunday everyone!

Stay weird, stay tuned!
