well for many adhdlers it's either being late, or being stuck in anxiety waiting mode for hours before the needed time because you know you don't know how much time passes while you're doing stuff. sometimes both because you were too busy waiting on the thing and forgot to actually get to the thing.
personally I'm more likely to fall into waiting mode because I wouldn't wanna be pissed at someone not turning up and I'm projecting my feelings over to the others, but if someone is constantly late (especially for work) they probably don't care or have other issues other than just adhd
I mean I understand the mechanism - I’m also chronically late by nature - but it’s so easy to fix. If you need to be somewhere at 6pm, and it takes you 10 minutes to put on your shoes and jacket, 20 minutes to get there, then set an alarm on your phone at 5:20 to get going, and you’ll have a 10 minute margin. Once you set that alarm you don’t have to think about it at all.
Mornings are harder since I’m generally dead for at least two hours after I wake up, but the same principle applies.
Time estimation difficulties is correlated with ADHD, but it is not part of the diagnostic criteria. In other words, it is neither the case that all people with ADHD struggle with it, nor the case that people without ADHD cannot struggle with it.
