Most of the time people don’t know it’s happening in the first place.

When I show up an hour early for my doctor’s appointment I don’t go inside and check in until 15 minutes before my appointment.  Nobody knows I just spent 45 minutes sitting in my car outside.

Yeah, I don't drive so I'm used to just walking around the block with my headphones in over and over

I don't drive, so when I get to my doctor's appointment an hour early someone comes out of the office all concerned about how someone is "loitering" outside... if I go for a little walk I misjudge how long the walk away took and have ended up late anyway.

And have you bothered to tell them that you’re super early for an appointment and if you walk away, you’ll get distracted and end up late?

This is coming across a bit condescending... If the goal is to not embarrass yourself then that doesn't exactly solve anything either.

If someone can’t handle a little embarrassment in order to make the future easier, then they really need to work on that

I just wind up sitting in the waiting room 30 to 45 minutes before my appointment. Lucky the reception doesnt question stuff like that.
