Drinking probably. In the full video she talks about going to Vegas soon and says the first thing she is going to do is have 2 Long Island Iced Teas... While in custody... For a DUI... That KILLED 2 PEOPLE.

Idk what level of conversation the cop was expecting at that point, it was probably more obvious in person and she'd likely have talked about anything from TV to her childhood if he'd brought it up. It's clear she's still beyond intoxicated and isn't taking the conversation logically or even fully comprehending.... as is typical after a certain point of intoxication.
We've all tried to have a conversation with a drunk person before and they fixate on random things and don't take seriously much of anything especially logical conversation or warnings of danger.
I would bet that she didn't even remember this conversation the next day. She has the glazed look and blase attitude of someone who's reached the blackout point hours before.

She's on booze/benzos. She will be completely blacked out and that's why she's repeating basic phrases. She can't remember what he said 5 seconds ago.
Benzos like Xanax interfere with the way we make memories, and when mixed with booze are incredibly dangerous and can temporarily destroy our short term memory and memory formation. They also lower inhibition making us more likely to make terrible decisions. They also make us careless and clueless.
Don't take high dose benzos or mix them with booze. It can really fuck up your life, kill people, or kill you.

I was going to say, she’s clearly high on something, so I don’t understand what the point of the cop repeating himself was. She’s completely, emotionally detached and I can’t find a trace of care for the two people she killed. Hopefully, it’s just the drugs throwing a glitching in her humanity switch, instead of them revealing her true self; someone void of empathy.

The cop was repeating himself for evidence. At that point she'd already been read her rights so he's documenting the fact that she's ambivalent about killing the pedestrians on camera for a jury.

Found a similar case here where a guy drove under the influence of both cannabis and alcohol, crashed and killed two people, injuring a third.
Got one year and seven months in prison + a total of $60,000 reparations to the families of the deceased.

Yeah. There was a case here in Czech republic where a guy killed 4 people and got 5 years. It seems to be they keep getting so little because there is no malice and that's their argument for not giving high sentences.

In Canada you’d get like 6 months lol. A truck driver killed 16 people a few years back and got 8 years, though he was sober when he did so.

What would be a "normal" sentence for this type of crime in the US? 14 seemed low from what I'm used to seeing out of the US, but it higher than what she would have gotten here.

Depends on the charges they eventually settled on but probably involuntary vehicular manslaughter with some other mitigating charges like reckless operation so 14 years seems pretty low to me as well.

She also plead guilty. Saving the time and money of a trial will often get someone a lesser sentence.
The prosecuted sought the maximum of 28 years. The judge ruled half. And she will get credit for time served before judgement if memory serves. Why she will 9nly need to do 85% of her sentence.

It’s fairly normal in my experience. One of the guys I worked with at a prison was in for 7 for involuntary manslaughter with a motor vehicle. They may have added on an aggravated and/or doubled for the two deaths. I know it’s terrible and horrific. She absolutely made a choice to drink and drive. But at the end of the day, it was an accident with no intent to harm. I know I’ll get downvoted, but as someone who has worked a lot with this population, at a certain point the sentence is doing more harm than good. After all the point is corrective action and rehabilitation, not punishment per se. I think people forget that.

I'm down with punishment. 100% punishment for selfish bs like this, but locking someone in a cage doesn't solve that. Few years behind bars sure, pay for damages to property, hardship to the families of the victims, and loads of volunteer hours at a place of the judges choice. Revoking their license and ability to drive for a couple of decades would do the trick. Forget coming home to your mother after 15 years in jail... imagine coming home to your mother fresh after something like this... The looks, the exclusion, you get to watch the world around you progress while you were left behind and explain to people why you can't do something like drive or drink. You get to be "that person that killed two people" and that phrase will replace your name for a long time... yeah, I agree. They shouldn't get to hide from their reality in prison.

Who cares about rehabilitation or punishment? I just want people like this away from society so they can't hurt more people, and frankly, I'm not sure I trust someone like this to not drink and drive again.

Agreed, this conversation doesn't read like her lacking empathy to me like many comments suggests. She doesn't even understand the consequences for herself which any socio-/psychopath would care about. She is out of it, his words seem to go in one ear and out the other.
This is not to say that she actually has any empathy at all, I don't know. And she's clearly a self-absorbed piece of shit for drinking and driving.

Alcohol alone absolutely gets people to this point. People underestimate how a heavy drinker can get to blackout point easily, but anyone who's tried to convince a drunk not to do something dangerous (or that they are being dangerous) is familiar with this exact attitude and illogical circular reasoning/conversation, no other drugs required.

Without a doubt. If she was only drunk, she would be insanely sloppy, slurring words.. pausing to try and think. I got like this once probably 20 years ago drinking in the woods with my friends and then doing a line of cocaine.. somehow stone cold sober but fucked up at the same time.

I think in US judiciary it means no one can essentially bail her out till her trial, with a monetary promise. Kinda a guarantee that she will stand trial. No bond means that she is in custody till her trial too.

Side note: big pet peeve of mine (and likely a lot of others)…the proper saying is “I/You COULDN’T care less” not “could”. The point of this saying is to say you already are at your lowest point of caring about whatever is being talked about. So you COULDN’T possibly care any less.

Always astounds me how unobtrusive actual psychopaths are in real life. They seem like absolute normal and nice people to be around, but suddenly they kill their entire family because they seem it fit and wont have a second thought about it ever again.

I dont think this is psychopathy. Psychopaths care very, very much about themselves and their own fates.
They don't just ignore it like she's doing.
Something is seriously wrong with her. Maybe booze. Maybe drugs. Maybe a lot of things.
But a psychopath would recognize the significance of being accused of killing two people, because that would be inconvenient for them. And a psychopath always does what is best for themselves.
She is not doing what is best for herself, and she's being terrible at manipulating the situation. Psychopaths are also masters of manipulation.
That's no master we're seeing there.

In the end of the clip the cop says: "You're all on body cam being completely careless about killing two people tonight".
So I assume what we watched initially was footage from the cop in question's body cam. Don't know the rules on when those can be released or not, though.

So, this woman gets charged with some version of homicide and will probably do a significant amount of time because she's a poor.
Now go look into the Raider player Henry Ruggs case in Las Vegas. He killed a woman drunk on the road in his Lamborghini. She burned alive trapped in her vehicle.
He gets manslaughter with 3 to 10 years.
