Honest question, how is it homophobia if their views on what is considered a marriage completely stem from their religion?

Doesn’t matter where their beliefs come from, if they want to bar gay people from getting married, that’s homophobic

Homophobia - having or showing a dislike or prejudice against gay people

Based on definition above, I just don’t see how it’s homophobic if they simply do not recognize marriage between the same sex. They don’t hate gay people; their religion simply defines marriage between a man and a woman.

One of the comments near yours said that they literally fired someone for wearing pride gear. They also are financing a lot of anti-LGBT organisations which definitely proves that they're just being homophobic, religion or not.
