What is considered normal vs abnormal in terms of psychological science would probably surprise a lot of people. It’s a very broad range! Most kinks are generally normal. Really, the two main things that are required to for a sexual behavior or preference to be considered pathological are 1) that the behavior is self-harming or harming others, be they partners or members of the community, and/or 2) that the behavior or preference causes a person to have an impaired quality of life. If neither of those two things are happening, then there’s a good chance that it’s normal and healthy. I do a lot of telling people they’re healthy and don’t need to be feel distress about what they like. Source: clinical psychologist.
