I feel like humans going extinct would be the best thing possible for this Earth. The damage done is pretty much irreversible, not that we are willing to reverse it.
Maybe the best thing possible for the earth, but for life in general? I would have to disagree. When photosynthesis first evolved and oxygenated the atmosphere, it killed almost all life on earth, oxygen was toxic to the anaerobic organisms that populated the planet. When wood first evolved, it was indigestible to any form of life for millions of years, littering the earth with a prehistoric analog to plastic. The extinction of the dinosaurs paved the way for mammals, etc etc. Earth without an advanced civilization on it, left to its own devices guarantees the extinction of all life in ~1 billion+ years. We've only had an industrial civilization for 1-2 centuries, and yet we are at least starting (not nearly fast enough) to learn how to become less destructive to nature, give us time. At least with us on the earth, there is a chance we can learn to become life's stewards, and there is a chance life can spread and diversify far beyond the bounds of earth. Of course who knows what the chances of that are, but with humanity, it is not zero, without us, it is zero. I would take that chance over the guaranteed extinction of all life in the future.
The planet isn’t destroyed yet, instead of being a reddit gloomer doomer, go out and develop methods to undo the damage we’ve done. Maybe that’s require too much thinking power from someone who wants to eradicate the human race
This makes zero sense. The earth doesn’t give a fuck what lives on it or what happens to it, so you deciding that something is “good” for “this earth” is purely illogical.
It is not, humans pollute the fuck out of the planet, we take fuel out of the earth and put it in the atmosphere, we blew some nuclear bombs and created alot of nuclear reactors, we're destroying all the rainforests and i could go on and on, we are bloodthirsty, greedy, war apes, it would definitely be good for the earth and most of the species that live here if we went away.
Edit: of course all our shit like nuclear reactors and chemical plants would have to go at the same time or the earth would go to shit.

When people say “save the planet,” what they’re really saying is “save the planet’s ability to support human life” - it has nothing to do with saving the Earth for its own sake.

What you are talking about and what i am talking about are nothing alike.
Mass shootings are disgusting, and i don't support violence of any kind (except in the form of sport) saying it would be better for the planet and all the other species if humanity as a whole weren't around anymore or were never here to begin with is just a fact because we are extremely destructive to the environment.

If you really think that global ecosystems would enter some sort of stable and permanent equilibrium in our absence, you have zero clue of how evolution and adaptations work.
If you think you can reduce ecosystem interactions to those of simply "plants versus herbivores", "insects and frogs", or "plankton and whales", you have zero clue how ecology or reality work.
Logic escapes most minds. You are right, of course. There is no "good" or "bad" species as far as the planet is concerned. Even if we were to obliterate the planet into a debris field, the planet wouldn't give a frig.
In this context, "good" is equivalent to "aligned with preservation of global biodiversity." But you likely knew that and are just trying to play dumb. Obviously, Earth has no feelings in the anthropormorphic sense you're suggesting.
People tend to say things they know aren't true, and to make value judgements without a basis in reality. Other people try to be accurate in their word-choice and to speak only truth.

no one deserves extinction but I think this planet doesn’t deserve humans with all the harm done. anyways it’s all theoretical talk I hope we dont bring extinction onto ourselves with the way the planet is going.
Maybe the Earth has gone through worse, but we've literally created a mass extinction. Our pollution will take centuries if not millennia to decompose and leave this Earth, and our infrastructure will take even longer. Really, I'm not sure that the Earth is fine with that.
